I never said he didn't make any plays. If you play the qb position for as long as he did at ND, you'll make plays. But even the games u cited, we were either awful for stretches and/or played against inept defenses like Michigan that year. And, against Michigan that year, he inexplicable dropped the ball on one play and had multiple turnovers that put us in the hole we were in to begin w/. We were awful on offense in the Stanford game and iirc, crist was the catalyst on that drive until the fumbled snap. You can prop his play up all you want, I watched, and saw that he held that team back. If u don't agree, we'll agree to disagree.
Funny thing about Crist's fumble that nobody talked about is the fact that it looks like the snap didn't come close to hitting him in the hands and back towards his elbows .... which is why the fumble took such a weird bounce backwards .... you never see a snap hit the QB in the hands and when fumbled bounces straight back behind the QB by almost 5 yds ..... likely not his fault but all the excuse Kelly needed to play Tommy Turnover .... Crist fumbled once and gets benched for the season ..... Tommy TO does it all day every day but gets the special treatment
Kelly calls QB competition up for grabs but looks for an out to play who he really wants .... not a QB competiton at all ..... same with Kizer/Zaire
