Markus Burton wrapped up the regular season for Notre Dame men's basketball with his first ACC Player of the Week honor.
Burton, who was ACC Rookie of the Week four times in his freshman season, had never been named ACC Player of the Week. The honor came well earned after helping the Irish beat Stanford and Cal in the final home games of the season.
Burton scored 24 points in Wednesday's 56-54 win over Stanford and a career-high 43 points in Saturday's 112-110 win over Cal after four overtimes. His 43 points were the most by an ACC player in a game this season and the most by a Notre Dame player in any game since Adrian Dantley's 49-point performance against Air Force in 1975.
Burton shot 45.7% from the field, 53.8% from 3 and 78.3% from the free throw line. He also averaged five rebounds, three assists and two steals for the week.
The ACC will announce its all-conference honors for the season later today.
