Angeli to portal

Three months ago there was a title game on the line and we saw Steve Angeli. Now three months later it’s Kenny Minchey. You have said you have coached FB a lot of years. Simply curious as to your insights.
I think everyone liked Angeli. It sucks to see him leave. But at least he can have a chance to start somewhere. I will be rooting for him wherever he goes.
Why would an Angeli upgrade portal in to sit the bench.

I am curious after Carr is named the starter why Kenny Minchey would stay and sit the bench for a third straight season.
He's not going to be named starter. They will compete until August and if Minchey loses the job he will be the backup. He can't transfer at that point and play anywhere else.

It's no longer the case...Minchey although unproven is simply more talented than Steve and that's great news cause Carr is even more talented than Minchey! Time to step up CJ and win a title 🍀
Because we are one play away from needing that caliber of QB to win a championship . A jack Coan type would be a need at this point. Especially if Michey transfers out like you’re insinuating he should.
It would seem that Minchey passed Angeli by in spring practice. Happens all the time.
Because obviously the coaching staff decided that going forward with a younger player with better skills and a higher ceiling is a better option for the 2025 season.
A starter won't be named until mid August at least. Where do you suggest he could go then ?
The players, IMO, know now. So do the coaches. Kenny Minchey has been in South Bend over two years, and CJ Carr over a year. Nothing will change in 4 months.
Marcus Freeman can say there is a competition, there isn’t. CJ Carr will be the starter, IMO. The only reason a starter won’t be named now is because the coaches do not want another QB to portal.
HCs don't operate that way if they plan on staying a HC long. Your word means everything and once you lose credibility with prospects it's game over on your career

Huh? He could have told them that the 2 man battle was between Carr and Angeli. He was honest and said it was Carr and Minchey.

I agree 100 percent. This transfer is going to bite us if Carr goes down.
Can't expect a kid to stay based on "if".
They could have paid Angeli more, just to stay and be #2, make it worth his while. Then transfer to the MAC as a senior. The NFL pays their back up QBs well. It's a critical position. But then Minchey might transfer.
I just said he could transfer and start next year, you bimbo. I was looking at it from ND's point of view, and they don't want to lose him, because they want the depth, and they want him as a veteran #2. And maybe they could pay him extra, enough so that he might stay. Because you can do that now. And he would still have one year left to transfer. Does that compute in your mongoloid brain?
I believe that is the sole reason Steve left. Steve Angeli also graduates in May with his Notre Dame degree, with two seasons to play. Kenny Minchey has not graduated from Notre Dame, still has three seasons to play if he chooses to, and it is far easier for Coach Freeman to keep Kenny Minchey.

Oh, I get it, in your lust to see these players play for free, and not take any money and just be slaves because that turns you on for some morbid reason, you're saying that the chance to start somewhere else means more to him than any extra money ND might give him which they probably didn't offer him in any case, and if anything he stands to make more money somewhere else if he becomes the starter, a lot more, totally obliterating your whole point. If anything, it may be accurate to say that Angeli left precisely because of the money. He'll get a better deal straightaway, right off the bat, depending on where he lands, and if he wins the starting job with whoever he lands with get a nice pay bump, which is what I suggesting ND might do which presumably they did not.
Only if ND offered him a significant pay raise, and made their case to match anything he might get on the open market, and he declined because he wants to play more than he wants to get paid, and will deliberately make less in order to start somewhere else, would your point mean a damn thing. And that's almost certainly not the case.
