Halftime outlook:
Amidst the idiotic bickering that continues showing up on this board Notre Dame has managed to put together a fine first 2 quarters. A slow start made it difficult to get any rhythm early, but establishment of offensive line has put us in a great position to wear down this young Trojan defense. Trojans have a true freshman corner out there so I am assuming we will attack.
Offensively:
We have established the run, with 196 yards on 17 attempts 1 TD. 10-19 passing with 93 yards 1 TD. 3-7 on third down efficiency and unfortunately penalties still hurting us, 4 for 30. A lot to build off of. I hate these slow starts as much as the rest of you, but we are in good shape. We need to continue to roll out that 12 personnel and use PA to take deep shots. Feed Claypool, it's our best mismatch on the outside. Kmet looks strong so use him to open up lanes in middle, I like him going from on the line to off. Attack middle of SC run D, use guards to pull and get second level blocking against SC's LBs they are over matched at POA.
Defensively:
Love seeing the 4-2-5 and variations of what seems like the 4-2-5. Safety help over the top is scaring alibis to throw the 9 route to Pittman jr. we are baiting him to take that shot, I surmise he will and we will get a pick. Need to be better with tackling at second level, too many YAC for SC. I'd like to see use bring pressure every down. We get hurt when we do that 3-3-5 stuff or 6 DB look, it's not our strength. Let the front 7 set the tone by getting in the QBs grill forcing him to step up in pocket and make throws, and quick decisions.
Overall: Slow start has not killed us. Let's go out and score to start the 3rd and put the hammer down!
go Irish!!
