That seems like a bad play design. Your running play action which puts the DB’ first step to the line and then throwing a quick out.

You lose the 2-3 yards as the DB is moving in. Should just get that out immediately

They may not be big, but they’re quick and they move a lot before, during and after the snap. Makes them hard to block.
