ND Next Opponet Cotton Bowl UT v. OSU Game Thread

Would ND go with Angeli if RL can't move the offense? Its a tough call when you consider how you get to this point in the season. I would hope that the answer is yes...because you have to put your team in the best position to score....but also have to assume your coaches know what they are doing.

If RL can’t move the team, the problem isn’t RL. It’s the OLine !

First Korean to win a NC too ?

Newsflash: it would also be a 1st that...Marcus Freeman won a NC!!!

;)

I'm all for celebrating any kind of identity or heritage in good spirit.

But for me, it's primarily about the individuals in the team...especially this particular coach. He's got what it takes. And only will get better.

He will have ND as ready as can be. Greater than sum of the parts. We will see if it is enough beat Ohio State, who admittedly has more talent.

What happened there on the goal was like what happened in the super bowl where Pete Carrol let his ego make the call and lost a SB.

First and goal at the two you pound it in.
Easier said than done and a lot has to do with the opposing DL

I absolutely would , but our coaches won’t.
Just the way it is this season.

Manning has played more than Angelli. He filled in earlier this year when Ewers was injured.

I was all for having BG Angeli starting the 2nd half the other night.

Speaking of talent, they were saying yesterday that Ohio State currently has 15 five star players on their team, while ND has only one.

That’s like blood in the water for Chase type number crunching F+ sharks !

He marched the offense down the field in his one series netting 3 points. If it went for that high snap they maybe could have gotten a TD.

It really amazes me how so many fans and even talking heads like Driskell don't give Angeli the credit he deserves. The kid has done nothing but produce when called upon. 6-7 for 44 yards vs a defense that was dominating the ND offense up until that point.

I heard Driskell on his podcast and he did give Steve credit

Than that's a first.
Everyone on that podcast have a lot of credit to Steve. He doesn't dislike Steve. He says he's a great backup and a guy who could win 10 games a year if he was the starter here (high praise). He just doesn't think he's good enough to win against the best and lacks that high upside. I think he's right about that. I think a lot have that opinion. Really solid good QB, just not talented enough to be a difference maker, I don't see why saying that is so bad

I could not care less what Bryan Driskell thinks, FWIW. Driskell, as far as human beings are concerned, is low budget, IMO.

That said, based on my observations, including Penn State, Steve Angeli, IMO, has a damn good shot to start at Miami in game 1 next season.

Yet Angeli literally showed he was a difference maker in the game vs Penn State. PSU had the ND offense shut down, dominating them, and Angeli comes in cold, drives the offense down the field, gets 3 points, and provides a spark for the team before half. If that's not making a difference, than I don't know what is.

That's 1 possession and he had 32 yards of offense. Awesome job. He was a key factor in ND winning.

Big difference when you are the QB for 15 games, every team is preparing for you and have a ton of film on you and you have to do it week after week.

Apples and oranges.

He's a Christian man and a former child pastor.

But who cares if he was the worst man in the world. Does he know football, does he provide his content and does he offer ND people anything of substance.

That's what should matter. I could care less if he is a nice guy or he hurts your little feelings type of man

I can tell you are from Cali

Doesn't matter he came in cold went 6-7 for 44 yards. Not many college QB's can do that.
Let's be honest he's a much better passer than Leonard. It's simply reality.

And he's not close to as good of a QB. That's also simple reality. There is more to being a college QB than one thing.

Pocket presence, athletic ability and running ability, avoiding sacks, protecting the football, leadership toughness (physical and mental)

and you know none of whether or not Angeli has those abilities or not. It's been the defense carrying this team all year. The offense has been one dimensional all year, and if it wasn't for the elite play ND got from RB's, this team wouldn't be where it is today. RL is a very good runner, but he can't make throws beyond 10 yards consistently.

Wasn't it you who said Leonard has 1st round talent? He wont even be drafted in the 1st 3 rounds. You clearly can't evaluate talent.

Belichick drafted Mac Jones in the 1st rd. He clearly can't evaluate talent. He also drafted Nkeal Harry. Clearly he can't evaluate, right? You go to that when you have no response. It's old and makes you look weak

Now back to the point at hand here. RL has 35 touchdowns on the year. Without him, along with many other players we wouldn't be here. But he's the most valuable player on the team. Do you know who think RL is the best option for the team, the coaches.

We know that Steve has been beaten out by Tylwr Buchner Drew Pyne Sam Hartman and Riley Leonard in his 3 years as a college QB

He'll be in a battle for starting QB next year as a senior and we'll see what happens

Why didn't you mention that Bill Belichik drafted Tom Brady?

Why didn't CJ Carr enter the game against Penn St. after Riley Leonard got hurt?

Do you honestly think they're going to make a QB switch, at this point in the season, national championship game? I definitely don't think they will, nor should they. I don't know how bad things would have to be. Only that they would have to be bad enough that they were too bad for Angeli to get us back into the game, and so why bother?

And that would be a rather surreal way to end the season, even if we won the championship. To pull our starting QB, who's been terrific all season notwithstanding his passing limitations, and replace him not with a superrecruit like Arch Manning, but just some pretty no-name three star dude, and then he ends up, in realistic fashion, and that's important, somehow getting us the win. Meaning he doesn't pass for like, 400 yards like he's Tom Brady or something out of nowhere. And the reason RL was pulled was for being too ineffective, and not an injury. And it's Steve Angeli's who carried off the field, who hasn't done shit all year, and not RL. And everybody loves RL, he's popular, almost as popular as MF. That would be bittersweet I think, for a lot of fans. And just weird....

So now you're comparing yourself to Belichick? ROFLMFAO!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Belichick's bowel movement can evaluate talent better than you can.

I knew that's what you would take from that comment

Trying to have a football conversation and you had nothing so you go to an old stupid argument about RL to avoid the topic. Then you take something completely out of context to deflect from the point again 🤣🤣 Hilarious stuff

So since you wanted Fickell and Deboer over MF, never speak on coaching decision again. At ND or any program. You simply cannot evaluate coaches while I guess because I got this one right I can. So you cannot evaluate coaches ever again. And a know nothing like me was right and you were wrong.

Also, you aren't allowed to talk about basketball because you tried saying Kobe dominated Lebron head to head 🤣🤣🤣.

So no coaching or basketball evaluations from you please 🤣🤣

At least i'm man enough to admit i'm wrong, unlike you who clearly lacks self confidence and self esteem. You have to try to be the always right fool on an anonymous message board. It's quite hilarious actually.

No. We were having a football conversation and have for a little while. You got in your feelings and tried bringing up RL and 1st round again 🤣🤣. Why does someone have a differing opinion on Steve Angeli and not even a negative get you so in your feelings that you have to try to talk shit. It's weird. Are you related?

We could have continued to talk about Steve or just ended it but you get so upset that you try to talk shit

But you've been wrong so much and it's hilarious all you have is Riley Leonard 1st round 🤣🤣. Fickell Deboer Kobe Lebron. I remember how you thought Auburn had such a great offense and better than ours lol. But I know, I know. Riley Leonard 1st rd 🤣🤣

Talk about embarrassing

I'm not upset, I'm just letting you know that in the limited live game action Angeli has seen, he's done nothing but produce. that's FACT.

You aren't interested in conversations. All you care about is telling the other person they are wrong, and you are right.

This is true. Usually those types have low self esteem and lack confidence.
