Kelly to the Giants?

I'm sure the Giants are talking to Kelly and Kelly is listening. I don't think Kelly has the Defensive chops for the Giants, but I'm convinced he has the managerial skills of some of the best in the game. (Look how he turned a program that was in a shambles routinely getting crushed by Michigan and USC and having losing seasons into a top ten program.)

That said, my feeling is Sean Peyton will probably be the Giants first choice.

But if he does go, am I crazy for thinking: lets not make the same mistake we made when we bypassed Urban in his early 30s. Is there any indication (if he got a solid D-coordinator) that Sanford is ready. Let youth be served!

Just spitballing guys.

Sanford doesn't even call the plays with Kelly in charge. I'd rather hire Rocky Long if he'd keep Sanford on staff to groom him for the future.

Okay, strike my Sanford suggestions, it's late -- just did my due diligence on Tom Herman. Wow. Like Kelly he is all about the O but wow. We'd be increasing his salary by at least two mil. The brains behind OSU's 12-0 offense (and they haven't been that good since.)

Bonus: We'd definitely get a new D coordinator!

Bingo! He can bring his DC.

Why is anyone giving the OP the time of day? Appears to the a classic I know someone who knows someone but I can't tell you who that someone is...post that we see on occasion.

you can't send NFL players home early because they miss curfew. The era of Lombardi is well behind us.

The tail wags the dog.

And further, Kelly is no Vince Lombardi!

ND does not have the best QB situation in the country!

1. ND has an incumbant starter (Kizer) for whom there is a thread discussion of converting him to TE!
2. the next man in MZ, has 2 starts in his career and was injured for the season in the second one; with his team behind an struggling offensively!
3. the next guy has not even played the equivalent of a Qtr!

WTH!

Actually Perse -- we have a nearly full season, first year starter Kizer who finished the season ranked the 15th in the country. Several ahead of him are going pro this year. (So he will be top ten.) Pundits were calling him one of the best in the country mid-season.

Malik Z was ranked #2 in the nation after the Texas game and before his injury and has won all three games he has started. Including a dominating performance vs. LSU in his first game!

Wimbaugh (who only played due to MZ's injury) was the #4 ranked QB in the country coming out of high school.

For me that is real depth. Yes, Clemson has the best QB but we have real depth and finally, all three QB's fit Kelly's system.

And ALL THREE HAVE 3 YEARS OF ELIGIBILITY LEFT! What coach wouldn't like that?

You really need to look on the sunny side of things one and a while Perse.

By the way if you are basing your opinions on 'thread discussions' you have lost it, man. (Kizer a TE???!!!) Ssheesh. I'm out.

not agreeing that the ND QB situation is not the "best" QB situation is not critical - just not sunshine pumping!

hypothetical: (and you guys know how high I am on Kizer)

Rosen or the 3 ND QB's?

I was stunned reading the Kizer to TE proposal! ND fans can really be bizarre!

I've also heard these rumors about Brian Kelly going to the NY Giants. I certainly hope this won't occur, cause unlike some others, I think he's a terrific coach for ND, and would hate to see him leave. ND's many rallies over the years show that his teams never quit! I suppose that those who dislike Kelly would prefer we revert back to the Davie/ Willingham/ Weis years? Not me.....I'm tired of ND being eliminated from the NC hunt before the end of September year after year!

Any good coach worth his salt would have sent Redfield and Tillery home for being @sshats.

I don't usually start threads, and especially don't start rumors, but I've heard someone that has ties to ND, that I would not like to elaborate because I got in a heap of trouble when I leaked about Aaron Lynch coming to ND. But it seems that Kelly has gotten a lot of interest from the Giants, and it has been reciprocated. Who knows how it will work out, but this has been a fairly reliable source. I hope this person is wrong this time.

I have a few questions.... You ding dongs are the audience.... give it a couple of minutes....

Do you honestly think he'd leave Stanford, his alma mater, to come to ND? I seriously doubt it.

I spoke with Shaw at length this past summer at a Stanford fundraiser. He is very happy as are his wife and children. He is not going anywhere. You're looking at a lifer imo...... He's going to continue to be nails tough and only get tougher from here on out.....

Since this is a ND board, I'll use Jonas gray as an example. Guy has his best game ever. Believe he was late to a meeting. Never saw squat for playing time in NE after that.

Happens all the time.

what we know is:
Belicheck has few scrupples
Belucheck will do anything to win
If JG was important to that purpose he would have played.

and

ND fans never learn!

Lament for decades over Meyer and then....
