Rees sucks. I could have have called better plays in the second half. You could see Navy was bringing 9 on every down. So why are you simply running up the middle or dialing up long pass plays where Pyne was getting sacked by unblocked players ? How about a screen , a draw or go wildcat. Try something different. It looks like ND has only ten plays. Navy looked like the 85 Bears on defense. MF better learn to be a better game day coach. No adjustments at all. One thing is certain. ND simply is not that good. There is no way that today’s game should have been close. But as usual they do their best to try and lose week after week.
Key word. Past at times. And I’ve seen this same script against “bad” Navy teams before. I’ve also heard a certain Coach say “winning in college football is hard” more times than I can count the last 10 years. Get over it seriously. ND will either be 7-5, 8-4, or 9-3. I figured they would be 9-3 this year. They might get there albeit by a different route than I surmised.
Someone needs to get Rees and Pyne to watch the movie Wedding Crashers so they can learn "hot route" from Vince Vaughn.....

I think most had us between 8 and 12 reg season wins before the year. Depending if you looked at it optimistically

But I didnt know Buchner was going to play so poor and our starting qb was going to be Drew Pyne
If you would have told me it was going to be Pyne and we went 9 and 3 with this schedule, I would have said hell of a job
We did not regress. We played 1 top 25 team last year and got embarassed
We have played 3 this year and have 2 top 15 wins.
And thats with a backup playing qb

is that what you did in order to come here and tell everyone, on a message board, that they’re not allowed to have any opinions or thoughts of their own? Just because everyone on the team/coaching staff would be receiving reach arounds from you tonight doesn’t mean everyone else has to follow suit.
I don't know that I'd call the Navy offense a triple option. It's more of a Leatherman tool or loaded Swiss Army knife.
I think our defense adjusted to the fullback dive nicely, but whew, the pass defense was pitiful.
Pyne went 17-21 an 81 % completion percentage, a 22.8 YPA and 4 touchdown#, that’s a remarkable performance !
Beat USC and none of it matters. But we've got some work to do. They are going to stack the box. Can we still run on them? USC has some serious talent.

I was at that game played in East Rutherford, NJ. My wife's first ND game, whom I just started dating at that time. It was embarrassing. 😂
Major issue is getting away from focusing only on negative issues. Even when Ara was coach, there was weaker halves. Remember when ND was up on USC 24-3 at half and then lost 55-24. Yes, different level opponent, but things can happen. Would anyone have blamed Ara for being able to adjust?
Navy may have weaker record, but they are not just stiffs do not play hard. It is not a simple issue of settling, it is dealing with reality.
It seems like we always have a hard time with Navy. I don't get the meltdown. This board is unbelievably reactionary from week to week.
So how many positive threads must one start in order to have a complaint about today?
Ara coached many years prior to that game and had earned his keep by then. That’s hardly the current case here. Not to mention, 50 years later, it’s still a game that is talked about negatively by ND fans and like you stated, it was against a MUCH better opponent than a 3-6 Navy team.
2 yards in the 2nd half. Were any of Ara’s teams that inept in any half? Might be the worst half of offensive production in ND history honestly. But sure, it’s nothing to be concerned about
So, did ND beat Clemson in spite of Freeman being the head coach? Asking for a friend.
Of course it's something to be concerned about. I'm sure the coaches are working on it. Unless there is a letdown against BC (a trap game, honestly) we have several weeks to get ready for USC.
Sure as hell seems like it at this point. Bob Davie, Ty Willingham, and Charlie Weis all had some decent wins too. It doesn’t make them great coaches

Agree but we’ve played 5 really really bad teams this year and lost to 2 of them and almost lost to 2 others … we clearly should have crushed them even with pyne … UNC and Clemson show even with pyne what this team is capable of, no one expects us to play that good weekly but the drop off shouldn’t be this extreme
He can't do that.
He's one of those that tries to show how much he knows about football by constantly picking at the players and coaches. All that shows to me is that he's one miserable human being.

Oh you’re a much better fan than us. Grow up. We’ve all watched the same team yet some of us are more realistic than others. This team is the epitome of up and down. Next year with more experience, there will be more ups than downs. So suck it up.
I think Kelly would kill Rees this season. Rees is lucky bc I legit think BK would end his life.
