What will it take to see Kelly gone this year

Bob Davie had just hired an extension before he was shit canned. Charlie Weis and Willingham had time left on theit contracts as well. That we be no factor at all, as history has proven. If thr PTB want him gone, he is gone. Period. ND can afford, and is willing to pay 2 contracts. See Weis and Kelly.
How do you hire an extension? Did purse teach you English grammar?

I think Kelly could lose a few games this year and still be fine. If he were to lose badly to the team in LA, a transition would begin.

Wait a second, you've been hanging from Kelly's n*ts for years. Attacking anyone who would criticize the way he coaches. Now, you think he could lose a few games this year (hint - he already has) and still be OK unless USC destroys ND? ND could go down in flames to Stanford and Miami and USC and possibly be picked off by an NCST or Navy or Army if they don't bring their A-game. Which is it? Are you still in his corner or not? You sound like your having doubts about him. The jury is not out on this guy. He has not delivered a NC. He hasn't delivered a BCS bowl win. He hasn't delivered a playoff berth. His best bowl win was the Music City Bowl win a couple of years ago. He has arguably a QB in Kizer who could be drafted in the first round next year and he will have nothing to show for that except possibly 6 losses in the kid's last year at Notre Dame. I've rooted for him long enough. I hope ND fires him.

Geez, Pennick is one classless moron. Posters like him just post to create disharmony
Lacking in intellect, that is all they have for attention.

Not sure what that means. I think Kelly could lose a few games this year, but needs to beat the team in LA. That's it.

Of course I'm in his corner. He's the HC of ND, and I hope he wins every game. I'm just a ND fan. Can he win all his games remaining this year? Doubtful. This is a very young team and I have not made any claims about NC's this year. Kizer is a good QB, but the rest of the team is too young and inexperienced. Offense and defense. I've critized Kelly also. I've said before I think he needs to find a way to get these guys to stop leaving early for the league.

I don't hang from anyone's anything. Just a ND fan. I can't say I hope he gets fired. I hope he gets it turned around. But I'm just a ND football fan.

Where's Bodi when you need him?
Too much hate on the board.
Ok I'll say it for him. ND wins out, including the bowl game.
Defense shuts down Mcaffrey. Kelly get extension to 2027.

Mr. Gaunt, you are learning that anything you say can and will be used against you on this board. Lots of angry folks, looking for a reason to fight and prove you, me, and just about anyone else to be a moron.

No one is looking to fight HDK, but some people on the board are now singing a different tune now that Notre Dame's season is in the tank. john0gaunt is a guy who lambasted anyone who tossed criticism Kelly's way, just ask Cgvr and some of the others on here who have been on the receiving end of it. Kelly in their eyes could do no wrong. Even when valid points were made and backed up with statistics, guys like john0gaunt and his other aliases (epictitus, etc.) just raked the people making them. Now that it appears the critics have been proven right, guys like him are softening their stance in their support of Kelly. One of the few guys who hasn't and who keeps extolling the virtues of that contract extension is Pennick44. I guess I admire him for his stubborn refusal to abandon Kelly, but I have yet to hear an explanation of how Pennick thinks Kelly turns this thing around this year or in 2017 or in 2018 for that matter. I think Kelly is a good coach, but I think it's time Notre Dame moved on from him. He hasn't gotten it done. And the it I'm referring to is restoring Notre Dame to national football prominence.

Sir HDK, I'm not sure what the above poster is ranting on about. I have one ID on this board.

Coach Kelly himself mentioned that the worse part of his job was the weirdos on social media attacking him. I don't support any poster whose main attack on our coach is calling him porky or any other nonsense.

I believe they hate ALL cisgender posters.

I feel fortunate to have not have met Porky. If I did he would be shredded.
No, it's not on my business card, but "future coach" is on your idiotic handle.
Thanks for the ongoing chuckles.
Don't you have class this AM at Culver Academy?

Wow. You are witty today.
We are all awaiting Mr. Insider's next post on the inner workings of the ND hierarchy and their decision making. You are a beaut.

Thank you. It's good to know people in high places.

My only advice would be to do the opposite of Mr. Potato Head on just about everything.

ND admin is usually a year or two behind the fan base.

Of course if they wait too long now, the fan base is shrinking!

The fan base has nothing invested in the operation of the program so they move coaches and players around like chess pieces on their little message boards. There is little to no reality with the fan base. Just look at the names that pop up with the fan base on who is going to replace BK when he is fired. Then the fan base is 100% convinced that Jack ordered the firing even though there is no evidence to support that. Then the fan base has placed a number of wins that BK must achieve to prevent him getting the heeve ho. Then the fan base breaks bad on announcers who don't support the immediate dismissal of BK. Then the fan base, some vocal and some silent, who want the team to tank so "Tom Herman" or "Nick Saban" or "Urban Meyer" can be quickly hired. The fan base has little credibility because they run on emotion. Lots and lots of emotion. It's bad enough the national media wants to dictate what kind of demeanor BK should have on the sideline, now you have the fan base chiming in also. Of course, none of that mattered in 2012.

well, this is an excerpt from a post on another site....and to answer the OP question, it would be more of this:

"...ND does extremely well with the two lowest tiers here (low 4 star, high 3 star) while the top 5% of programs are pulling in the 5.9, 6.0, 6.1s in mass quantity.

Until the talent gap is closed ND will always be a huge underdog to make the playoff, let alone win the playoff if they get there. And that's regardless of who is coaching the team.

This 2017 class is more of the same ... 80% of the roster will be high 3 star, low 4 star, only perpetuating the mediocrity another season further. Why are people surprised about another likely 8 or 9 win season when ND recruits like an 8 or 9 win program?

The programs winning national championships on the football field are the programs winning national championships in recruiting leading up to them and its been that way since the ESPN/BCS era. This is unarguable fact...."

It is a myth that Kelly has elevated recruiting to the 'Playoff contending stature'.

Agree and disagree. I agree that some of the names thrown out there are ludicrous. Nick Saban and Urban Meyer are not coming to Notre Dame. Ever. Bobby Petrino is not coming to Notre Dame, ever, but for a different reason. When I see names like Gruden and Fleck thrown out there, I just shake my head.

I do think, however, that there is evidence that Jack ordered the firing of BVG. In Kelly's press conference after last Saturday's game, he was full of praise for the coaching staff. The following day, BVG was fired. Something happened in the intervening 12 or so hours, and it's hard for me to believe that Kelly had a sudden bolt of lightning strike him.

Kelly has every right to change his mine. Sat night I'm sure he wasn't thinking he'll firer BVG. I mean, in the moment what is suppose to say to the media? Is he going to firer him at a post game press conference? Given 12 hours BK had time to think about the situation to decide his best coarse of action.

Listening to Stephen Hawking is easier than reading your posts.

For a brief moment there I almost liked one of gcrv's posts.

Then I recoiled in horror.

BK addressed the post game presser like this. He said that immediately after the game, it was not appropriate to discuss in public his intentions of firing or retaining BVG. We know for sure that he did meet with Jack but it was implied that the meeting was to make Jack aware of what was going to happen. Now, even with all that coming from the horses mouth, there are still unknowns on how it went down. The important thing in all of this is the correct decision was made as it probably should have been made at the end of last season. Put me in the camp of salvaging this season like it's day one. Do whatever it takes to win games (legally of course) because there is still a lot of football to be played.
