Scott Frost

"The onside kick was just an awful awful call by Frost. Changed the game"

But, if Nebraska recovers and ultimately wins, it was a gutsy call and he is a genius. Easy to 2nd guess after the fact
Actually it’s not that hard. The call was all day dumb. And when you are 15-31 at Nebraska it’s even dumber.

Again. 15-31. Heck, there are many here who say Brian Kelly is a crappy Head Coach, and he finished 44-6.

This was stupid, not sure how you defend it

So because it worked for the Saints it’s great. But since it didn’t work for the Cornhuskers it was a stupid play? Got it.
So to you circumstances in a game mean nothing. Really? Thats what you're going with. Because it worked in one situation and not a completely different situation, that means it was a good call?

Got it.

Wow.

Wish Corn would have stayed in the B12.
What a pleasure it would be to be booting their rumps now the way they bloodied our noses under Osborne.

How about being down 1 point with the ball at Tulsa's 20, and 42 ticks left on the clock? Think about it....4th down and 20 yards to the endzone...and Kelly chooses to throw into the end zone. This call was worse than Frost's on-side kick call....because Tulsa saw it coming. There wasn't even the element of surprise attached to the stupidity. This wasn't a 45 yard attempt....Notre Dame had the ball at the 20.

No...a Brian Kelly head-scratcher makes one from Scott Frost look like swatting a fly.
It wasn't 4th down.

Monday morning QB.
Lol, you would call that play? FWIW, I called such when they did it.

calling such a play up 11 points, in the middle of the 3rd Q, has no sound argument …especially against the returning 125th rated offense from 2021

it gave them the ball at the husker 44 yard line, so virtually only a first down from a FG. As it was they only needed 5 plays to score

a dumb call

You just can’t admit when you are wrong. Very sad.
You should stop demonstrating Patrice like behaviors here… his opinion on it isn’t wrong as much your opinion isn’t right

both coaches admitted the call reversed the momentum…which is coach speak for a stupid play. Giving NW another 31 yards of field position in a game where they had scored 17 points through 2.5 quarters, and where their first 2 possessions in second half were a punt and a fumble …is stupid

it’s not Monday morning quarter backing as you are trying to state

The play seemed to reverse the ‘top dog’ mentality in the game. NU seemed gassed both emotionally and physically.

It clearly induced doubt in Nebraska players and gave NW a boost. NW’s first 2 drives in second half were punt and fumble. But now they start at the Huskers 44 yard line. That is a gift.

horrible decision by Frost

It is possible that Nebraska coaches saw the Northwestern kick return team bailing out earlier in the game. And that the Northwestern coaches also saw that and reminded the Wildcats they had to watch for an onside kick before dropping back.

Of course. That stuff occurs all the time.

but he has to consider the risks. Since 2017, onside kicks are successful less than 10% of the time. He had a 2 score lead and momentum. NW had done nothing in 2nd half drives …

ugly

Yeah, I am not saying I would have called for an onside kick. Just that it is possible Northwestern sort of baited them into thinking it had a high shot at working.

The biggest problem was Nebraska's offensive and defensive lines. They couldn't run for crap and the D could neither stop NW's run game nor get to their QB. The Huskers loaded up on skill players in the portal but seem to have forgotten that you need a foundation of big uglies for any team to work.
