CJ Sanders beat out Will Fuller for starting Punt returner.

I believe CJ Sanders will return a punt ,or two, for a TD against Texas.

CJ is the "One" we have been waiting for since Rocket.

If the Offense stalls. If the defense tires. Don't worry-- the special teams will make the difference !

Go Irish !!
Can't wait to see the season start Saturday night !!

CJ !!!!

Davonte Neal, George Atkinson, Armondo Allen, Munir Prince have all been cast as the next Rocket, at least on the message boards. It's been a tough role to play...

I would not project CJ as anything more than our new punt returner. He has to earn the Tim Brown / Rocket comparisons. BK said that CJ has a knack for breaking some tackles but never went beyond that. Expectations can only lead to let downs. David Clyde syndrome. Let things develop naturally before any insane praise is heaped on the lad.

I would like to anybody not fair catch a punt or take 2 steps and get tackled. Punt returns have been abysmal the last few years.

There is a problem you see.
Part of the rocket being special was the fact that holtz spent a ton of time on special teams.
Do you think BK puts as much importance on special teams. ? .
Moreover it's much harder now because the punt formation used allows the coverage to get down there unblocked.
On kickoffs it could happen more but that is provided it isn't kicked out of the end zone which has become the norm.
Make no mistake there was only one Rocket and again some of what made him the "rocket" was Mr. Holtz

Davonte Neal showed what he can potential do last year as a punt returner for Arizona. 1 punt return for a TD. He is now the starting punt returner plus starting CB

Have you forgotten how good Allen Rossum was as a punt/kick returner?

The # of defections that got ND to the point where it was a given that AC would be asked back was about 8... still stand behind if you don't see those 8 things occurring AC and Hounell wouldn't be back.

Sanders' role as a freshman and Hunter's emergence in the slot are going to lead to a huge decrease in ACs role.

Rossum owns the career record for return TDs

AC blah blah AC blah blah.

Another argument. Lost.

Says the dude who said AC would be guaranteed back because he was the starting punt returner. Yall act like I am hoping AC has a terrible season, all I ever said was that he was on the bubble at the time I believe he was. That was 8 players having been taken off scholarship and ND failing to close at 26.

Are you just another star gazer, Sal? Amir C. has been in the Notre Dame system for three years and has made quite a few plays and is a great locker room guy and can help on special teams. AC is a great guy to Have on the team. Too think he wouldn't be asked back because of some unproven recruits is insane. specially considering Notre Dame never is at 85 without walk ons at seasons start. You keep back tracking and you won't own it so I like to remind you now and again.

And I know all about Rossum. This is about me hyping CJ Sanders and the rocket and I am going to bump this Saturday night after CJ takes one to the house !

There is no backtracking Bodi. At the time ND had 23 recruits, BK and the staff were still recruiting actively. Even after striking out and losing McKinney the scholarship #s were over 90. The ideal situation is that after 5 years of stability ND would not "always" be under 85 anymore. At the time AC was on the bubble because of the talent CJ had what Hunter and Prosser could do at the slot. ND lost a ton of guys after that...
Mckinney
Hegarty
Golson
Wallace
Williams
Hill
Bryant
Deeb
Huerman

Maybe AC makes it sure. But all I argued was that it wasn't a given because be was going to get pushed by the younger guys. That's how good I thought CJ would be and Hunter was, good enough to make AC not a given and here we are and they are pushing Carlisle to the point his role will be significantly decreased this year?

I'm not sure which ND you follow or who your Amir Carlisle is, but here is the depth chart for Texas:

WR
Chris Brown, Sr.
or Corey Robinson, Jr.

WR
Amir Carlisle, GS
or Torii Hunter Jr., Jr.*

Argument lost.

Go Irish!
Beat Texas!

Getting back to the CJ Sanders/Rocket comparison, I'll just say that hope springs eternal (or at least autumnally).

He is now sharing the starting gig with Hunter Jr. last year he was the starter. BK in interviews has constantly mentioned Hunter as a kid that will be hard to keep off the field and will get alot of touches, i.e. AC's role is decreasing in the slot as Hunter's increases. He was the PR last year, he is not now, again decreasing. I guess I lost that argument though.

This is an incredibly deep and talented team, especially on offense. To think that because either Corey Robinson or Amir Carlisle sharing the starting duties is somehow a demotion, is deluded. Especially to a talent like Torii Hunter Jr or Chris Brown.

Your problem is you take bad positions to argue and then refuse to see the facts that refute it. You do this again and again on this board. Remember that you would have let AC go and counted on Greg Bryant to pick up the slack in the backfield.

Again, argument lost.

You're right, I didn't get my GED. Thing is there's lots of trolls on this board, but Bodi is a ND fan. He attacks me all the time, but he's a ND fan, and the season is about to begin.

Go Irish!
Beat Texas!

Outstanding, you have crafted a sentence that is correct in both spelling and punctuation.

You only had to edit the quote of my post you incorrectly put up first. That isn't a mistake I make. Not because of my intelligence or lack of. It's because I know how to post and create a sentence correctly without an anonymous internet poster instructing me.

Rocket had another gear that I have not see at ND since he left. Not sure if CJ beat out Fuller for the PR job. Fuller is the key to the pass game at WR and he needs to stay healthy. CJ is one of 3 slot receiver's but I do think this kid might be a decent player right out of the gate. Not a big fan of Amir. Not a good runner on the jet sweep at all. CJ Procise was dangerous there and I hope sanders can give them a threat there .

JohnOGaunt, Thank you for having my back. I appreciate it.

*** I am bumping this thread to have a big plate of Crow.

*** I think CJ Sanders is going to be a real special player but to compare him to the Rocket before he ever played a college game was borderline insane. No more Maddog for me.

Easy for him because of short way to the goal. ND will have problem with Clemson this Sat.

Amir played very well yesterday. Some big catches from him. Love it... the kid has paid his dues and glad for him.

Another TD return for CJ Sanders--- a electrifying 95 yard kick off return against Stanford to get the Irish going ! 1 punt return for a TD and 1 kickoff return for a TD with the bowl game left to play !! I told you guys he was going to be special !! He will break Rockets TD total by the end of his career at Notre Dame !!
Remember he is a true freshman !!

CJ Sanders is a dangerous man !!
