Notre Dame offered 2025 defensive end Joseph Reiff Tuesday evening after Evaluation Camp II.

I followed the defensive line group for a few periods Tuesday. Reiff was a favorite of defensive line coach Al Washington. Inside ND Sports had him listed as one of the top performers from camp.

The 6-foot-5, 235-pound weakside defensive end now reports three offers from Iowa, Notre Dame and Purdue. He’s also receiving interest from schools including Illinois, Iowa State, Michigan, Minnesota, Northwestern and Wisconsin.

Notre Dame men's basketball made the top five for 2024 power forward target Garrett Sundra. He announced it in a tweet on Tuesday.

The Irish join Butler, Miami (Fla.), Providence and Virginia Tech as Sundra's final schools.

“They liked my game and thought that I could fit in the way that they play,” Sundra told Inside ND Sports in May. “I was excited to get the offer because Notre Dame is a phenomenal Catholic school and my family and I are Catholic. We were very excited when Coach Shrews called.”

Sundra was offered by head coach Micah Shrewsberry while at Penn State and has kept a relationship with him since the Irish offered in April.

The 6-foot-10, 200-pound forward attends Fairfax (Va.) Paul VI and plays for Team Takeover on the Nike EYBL grassroots basketball circuit.

Former Notre Dame defenseman Brock Sheahan will return to his alma mater as the associate head coach for the Irish hockey program.

Sheahan, who was a sophomore for head coach Jeff Jackson's first season as Notre Dame's head coach, joins Jackson's staff after one season as head coach for the AHL's Chicago Wolves, an affiliate of the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes. The Wolves finished the 2022-23 season with a 35-29-5 record.

“I would like to thank the Carolina Hurricanes for the opportunity to be a head coach at the AHL level last season,” Sheahan said in a statement released by Notre Dame. “It was an incredible experience and a year that helped me get better as a coach in all areas.”

Sheahan's coaching career includes one season as a volunteer assistant at Notre Dame (2013-14), four seasons at Holy Cross and four seasons with the USHL's Chicago Steel. The Steel won regular season titles twice during Sheahan's tenure. He finished both those seasons as head coach.

“When Coach Jackson first approached me with the possibility of coming back to Notre Dame to be a member of this great staff, it was an opportunity that my family and I have dreamt about — an opportunity to come home,” Sheahan said in the university's release. “The University of Notre Dame is a place like no other and I feel that I am uniquely prepared to help the program move forward. My experience at the highest level of junior hockey with the Chicago Steel, and then professionally with the Chicago Wolves, will help me develop our student athletes to the best of my ability both on and off the ice. “

Sheahan ended his four seasons at Notre Dame (2004-08) with 161 games played, 29 assists and four goals. In his senior season, Sheahan was named an alternate captain and the won the team's William Donald Nyrop Award for the top defenseman.

Sheahan's hiring was made possible due to an NCAA rule change that will allow hockey programs to have four total coaches starting July 1. He joins associate head coaches Paul Pooley and Andy Slaggert on the Irish staff.

“We are very excited to welcome Brock back to the Irish hockey family,” Jackson said in the university release. “He has developed into a tremendous coach over the last several years and is a rising star in our profession. Brock is a perfect fit for our staff, which was evident when he first started coaching here 10 years ago. For me it’s also awesome to welcome back an alumnus, that played on my very first team at Notre Dame.”

I spoke with Notre Dame 2025 linebacker prospect Maddox Arnold Monday night. He won linebacker MVP at Michigan's camp last Wednesday and is scheduled to participate in Notre Dame's Evaluation Camp II Tuesday.

Defensive coordinator Al Golden visited Arnold at Cincinnati (Ohio) Elder this spring and the 6-foot-2, 220-pound inside linebacker hopes to impress Notre Dame's coaching staff in camp.

"When I'm talking to him, he makes me feel like they want me," Arnold told Inside ND Sports. "I'm going to come out this year and compete so I can get on their radar.

"The thing I like most about Coach Golden is he's honest. I like honest coaches because they're not out there saying things just to get your head going and all that. They're honest with you, and tell you what they truly believe and what they truly want and see out of you."

While working out for Golden and graduate assistant Max Bullough, Arnold wants to show off his quickness in space and capability to win one-on-ones.

Arnold said an offer would mean a lot to him.

"Notre Dame is probably my dream school," Arnold said. "I've loved that school since I was a little kid. Building this relationship with these coaches would be a dream come true. I 100% want to come back for a game in the fall and many more that hopefully come after that."

Arnold has not been assigned a star rating or ranking. He reports seven total offers from Ball State, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Marshall, Massachusetts, Miami (Ohio) and Purdue. He's also receiving interest from Alabama, Cincinnati, Northwestern, Ohio State and Pittsburgh.

Notre Dame men's basketball has been active this week after Thursday marked the open contact period allowing coaches to contact players in the 2025 recruiting class.

While head coach Micah Shrewsberry reached out to a few in-state targets, Christian Gurdak and Jack McCaffery, I've confirmed assistant coach Mike Farrelly contacted 2025 small forward Jalen Rougier-Roane Thursday afternoon.

I spoke with the 6-foot-4, 185-pound forward about Notre Dame's initial contact. He attends Washington (D.C.) Sidwell Friends and plays on Team Takeover in the Nike EYBL grassroots basketball circuit with Gurdak.

"I can't wait to build a relationship," Rougier-Roane told Inside ND Sports. "I love how the coaches are intentional about what they want to happen within the program."

Rougier-Roane led Sidwell Friends to a 27-4 record last season. He averaged 11.8 points per game and scored 20 points in a 75-68 win against Fairfax (V.A.) Paul VI and 2024 power forward target Garrett Sundra in February.

From guards to forwards and centers, it seems Shrewsberry and his staff are targeting players with similar attributes and skills.

"I am versatile and play two ways defensively, I'm super active," Rougier-Roane said. "On offense, I can make plays with and without the ball in my hands. An offensive scheme with tons of movement fits me the best."

Rougier-Roane told me academics and relationships with coaches will be the most important factors in his recruitment.

Despite not having a star rating or ranking from Rivals, Rougier-Roane holds nine total offers including Marquette, Penn State, Providence, Virginia Tech and Xavier. He said he's also heard from schools like Indiana, Miami (Fla.), Pittsburgh and Syracuse since Thursday.

"I would seriously consider Notre Dame and an offer to the school would mean a lot," Rougier-Roane said.

Notre Dame hosted a trio of 2024 targets this past weekend on official visits as the Irish wrapped up their third and final big weekend of June. Here's what I'm hearing regarding those three recruits and others connected to the needs at those positions.

Let's start with the most important visitor of the weekend: four-star LB Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa. Confidence continues to rise that the Irish will eventually land Rivals' No. 35 overall prospect in the 2024 class. The Irish have been leaning into what makes their program/university different, and that message has really resonated with Viliamu-Asa and his family. Ohio State is still expected to host Viliamu-Asa this weekend, and the Buckeyes are a legitimate threat, but I believe Notre Dame is sitting No. 1 heading into his trip to Columbus.

Notre Dame did a good with safety target Malcolm Ziglar on his first visit to campus. The Irish are now serious contenders for Ziglar along with Clemson, South Carolina and North Carolina. The Tar Heels will get him on campus for an official visit this weekend.

There are some discussions on the strategy moving forward with Ziglar. With Notre Dame trending for safety targets Brauntae Johnson and Taebron Bennie Powell — for whom I've submitted ND FutureCasts on both (Johnson here and Bennie-Powell here) — there isn't 100% certainty there would be room for Ziglar if he wanted to commit to Notre Dame a month from now. But that decision hasn't been made yet from my understanding.

I see Ziglar's recruitment sort of similarly to three-star linebacker Bradley Shaw's. Notre Dame made a strong impression on their official visits but needs to figure out if there's room for them later in the cycle. ND isn't turning them away at this point because those recruits aren't ready to decide, so it's a good dilemma to have.

Three-star linebacker Keyshawn Flowers likely won't be a name to monitor moving forward. I don't believe there's a lot of mutual interest coming out of his official visit, so the focus at linebacker will remain on Viliamu-Asa and Shaw.

One last note on a target who wasn't on campus last weekend: safety Davis Andrews. I shared with you the glowing comments he made following his Utah official visit, but that hasn't shaken the confidence on ND's side of things. So I'm continuing to stick with my FutureCast for Andrews.
