I was unable to watch the Ohio State Texas game. Based on your observations how do we stack up against Ohio State. Where are our advantages and disadvantages? Is Ohio State vastly Superior than Penn State? Can we run against Ohio State?

Ohio St. played at Penn St. Won the game, outplayed Penn St.

Can we run on Ohio St? No idea.

two things need to happen. Notre Dame needs to stop the run and Notre Dame needs to get pressure with 4, at most 5. Notre Dame has been off this year when the defence gets run on. See NIU and PSU.

Don’t expect a ton from the offence. Notre Dame likely plays with two high safeties. Stop the run, force Howard into a few mistakes, control the clock and protect the football. Do this and Notre Dame can win a national title.

Secondary must have no busted coverages and make them earn everything

Front 6 most slow down the run similar to Georgia (Penn state we got whipped at times). Cross has to be capable. Tackling needs to be back to Georgia game level.

Oline must be better. I think they can be with jagusah back. He’s our most talented olinmen, and imo played the best vs Penn state. Osu is more power and Penn state was more speed. That helps.

Denbrock must call a game to score points early. Vs psu he was all about establishing run early instead of mixing it up despite Penn state having an average secondary. I’d like to see Faison have. 10 catch game. He’s our mismatch.

Riley can’t have terrible turnovers, and nd needs to win turnover margin

ND has to make this a boarderline ugly game in my opinion. 2 high safeties and make OSU dink and dunk down the field. Heavy blitzes and giving up big plays would be our downfall. If we can get pressure without blitzing too much, I like our chances.

Michigan and Texas found defensive success keeping 2 high and getting pressure with the defensive line. We’re going to need our D Line to play like they did against Georgia.

I think if ND is going to win it has to end up a 20-17 type game.

I don't think we match up well at all on either side of the ball to be honest. I don't personally think we win or even be competitive by playing this game "straight up" mano a mano. We have to have a great game plan and out coach them to stay with them... IMO.

My thoughts on this game are that ND, if in Texas' position...would have played that goal line situation much differently. I want Notre Dame to be in this game late in the fourth quarter. I believe that this team and its coaches will find a way to win. So.....keep it close for 3 and 1/2 quarters. Notre Dame will win in the clutch.

I don't know, but I think we can win. I'm going to trot out the tried and true transitive property and encourage myself by thinking, we beat UGA, and we just did, we deserved the win, even if we got some improbable big plays to do it. We were the stronger team. And UGA beat Texas, and I never thought Texas was that great. And sans Sark's bungling, they were in it til end with tOSU and they looked very beatable.

So I don't know how it's going to play out, but they're far from unbeatable. And no reason why we can't and won't win. Kind of a lame answer, but that's what I say. ND wins!

If the defense limits explosive plays, the offense protects the ball and Denbrock/Riley have their absolute best, they will win.

We can win, but we'll have to play very well. We'll probably have to beat them the same way we beat Georgia - defense and special teams will be key.

Too late to hire somebody to spy on their sideline so you have a schematic advantage each play they try to run!

ND stepped off the big stage as a National Championship contender after beating Texas A&M in the 1994 Cotton Bowl, Lou & ND was screwed out of what should have been his 3rd National Championship, ND wandered around, finally hired a good not great coach (BK), cleaned up, modernized and softened the schedule, had 5 real chances to get in the post season (2012, 2015,2018,2020 and 2021) made it 3 times, but never looked like they belonged.

Now, you have a bunch of casuals who think because they know the last 30 years of ND history, ND is the same football program and team. They are NOT. ND is as big, fast, athletic and long as any team in the country, Period. Indiana in round 1, looked like the ND teams of 2012, 2018 and 2020. Clearly athletically out classed and no business being on that stage, ND looked as good, or better than mighty Georgia and Penn State,

So, more so than just winning the first Natty since 1988, I would love to see ND shut up the fools who automatically tbink because they remember 1994 to 2023, they think they know the ND team of 2024. Because they do NOT, You can also print out the HS Star Ratings and F+ BS, fold it up tight, and insert it where the sun never shines, Because those formulas are a crock of crap too.

I'm just kind of holding out hope that if we do win it, that the BK thing could maybe die, die a merciful death, and ND fans will somehow be propitiated. That's not really possible at this point, there's too much testosterone invested bashing BK, some of these ND fans would probably literally die rather than go back on all that animosity and antagonism, and once something like that gets started there's no coming back. That's just how men are. You invest your manhood in something like that, effectively, and you'll take it to the grave with you. As silly as it is, and of course, totally unwarranted, it will just be part of your worldview and your personal value system until you shuffle off this mortal coil. The fact that it was so preposterous from the beginning makes it all the more impossible to let go of.

But just the same that would be nice. If BK won a title at LSU that would definitely count, but it's not the same thing. It just means by the 'man laws' that have to be respected, he would receive some grudging credit from ND fans, almost because they're obliged to do so. And it's very unlikely the narrative would experience some fundamental transformation. The all-time winning coach at ND, and most definitely the progenitor so to speak of ND's current success, his name will always be dirt with ND fans. For absolutely nothing other than their own madness. And that's a shame.

I feel a big thing with this Notre Dame program right now is the coaching during the games has been on point. At some point in a huge game, you probably will find yourself doing some damage control, stopping the bleeding or at least slowing things down and getting the boys settled. Freeman and staff seem to get this. I would imagine during this game with OSU, thats going to be needed. The bucks will have some big plays, they will make some big drives down the field and score points. They're too talented not to and anyone suggesting ND would shut them down completely, or not struggle to move the ball at times, is not being very realistic.

The other big thing with this staff and team is if anything, doing damage control at certain points and most importantly come up swinging and if the game gets to a point where we're down and losing, at the very least, go down swinging and make it respectable. Kelly teams never did this.

I just think the injuries are gonna cause OSU to have a significant advantage in TOP and I think that’s gonna result in a lopsided score as the game wears on

I hope I’m wrong ……… but

Cam Newton annoys to the point I want to punch him in the face. His excuse for us beating Georgia was because Georgia was not the Georgia of past seasons. What kind of logic is that? Then he said because we weren't in a conference we did not deserve to be where we are now yet we beat Indiana we beat Georgia and we beat Penn State and the man still wouldn't budge. The only way we're going to get the respect we deserve is to go out there and win the damn game. This is not the same team from the past. And we're not even healthy. But we're gritty and we're tough and we're aggressive and we're very very physical. Wear them down beat them down. Ohio State's a great team. But I don't know whether they have the heart but we do.

Actually I think you want a lopsided score so when you got some Notre Dame fans complaining about the team you can rip into them because it isn't about Notre Dame winning it's about you feeling good about belittling people

A little sensitive are we ? ? ?

To show you what a moron you are, first you tell me it’s a jackass statement, then you tell me that my statement could be correct.

Surely even a moron like you can see the contradiction in your position.

It’s not a question of believing in the team, it’s an assessment related to the impact that injuries may have on TOP and the consequence of a significant disparity in TOP

Have someone with a brain explain that to you

You must have just scanned my post and missed the last sentence where I stated that I hoped that I was wrong.

Your post was flawed from the very first sentence, when you said “ I think” because we all know that’s impossible, you’re too stupid to think.

Keep your day job ………… if you have one !

It’s amazing, you’re almost like Kreskin ……… well, not quite
Kreskin was a mentalist, whereas you’re a mental case.

You’re like a woman scorned, all you do is whine.
You sound like a spoiled only child, but like a woman, of course

As to being a loser and living in my parents basement, I have homes in Connecticut, New Jersey and Florida.

Since when is stating facts and being realistic, being negative ?

Go lick your wounds somewhere else !

No I said Notre Dame could lose by a large margin it's possible but not for the reasons you stated what's so hard to understand basement dweller

The game is on Monday. Are you going to be able to get off your job at 7-Eleven to watch? Maybe you can get someone else to stock the shelves

And I'm giving you a lot of credit here cuz I'm assuming you were able to get a wife. Now go suck on some alpaca balls you disgusting flamer

My fear as well! Wish like hell we were playing this game with a healthy Cross and Miles and Botelho and Traore, etc…. Haven’t read anything about Cross, but he needs to be healthy enough to play like he did against Georgia. We simply can’t get dominated at the center of our defense like we were by Penn St. I’ve been anxious every playoff game because we are playing without so many opening season starters, but our depth has been simply amazing. Hoping and praying for one more game where our team again shocks the sporting world. Go ☘️

I love working and don’t plan on ever retiring

When people retire their brains go to mush and you’ve certainly proved that

I’d be very careful regarding what you wish for ……… you might be biting off more than you can chew

My absolutely gorgeous wife was a woman that you could only dream that you could marry.

Do you always whine like a woman scorned

Where's this idea coming from that NDs performance in the playoffs is shocking anyone? If you read any of my F+ posts, I've been calling ND a legit top 10 to top 5 team (progressively since about mid-season). Even after the NIU loss, F+ saw it as merely bad luck and maintained their top 10 ranking of Notre Dame's football team. Sometime mid-season, as Leonard & Denbrock got more comfortable, and their vision for the offense started to manifest itself, NDs overall F+ ranking catapulted them to the top 5 where they've been a lock since. Vegas had ND accurately favored in all three of their playoff games.

Point being ND hasn't been an underdog all season. Monday that changes in a big way.

Nobody expects ND to beat this OSU team for a national title (not the pundits, not the data, not your Dad's favorite barber, etc.)

This week is ND vs the demons of their recent past. Can they actually hold up to a legit tier 1 team (the types of teams that have ran them over in the post season since the start of the 21st century). OSU is that type of team. That team wasn't Georgia, or PSU (they may have been lesser versions of it) but this OSU team is loaded and firing on all cylinders in a way that none of NDs previous 2024 opponents have been. Can ND hold up to this type of tier 1 team & roster in the year 2024? We'll know the answer monday night.

Furthermore, I think our performance last week vs PSU started to show the upper limit of what this football team is capable of producing under these circumstances in any given game, and OSUs best is much better/greater than what ND produced last week vs PSU.
