^^THIS^^^I'm still burning mad that Grimes was robbed of that sensational catch he made in the end zone against Stanford in 2007.
and now comcast runs the clip of that play on one of their commercials

First - God Bless Your boy Me and my families prayers will be with him. It's not an easy time to volunteer for such a duty
Second - It's always nice and welcome to greet another brother. I will always have his back no questions needed.
Third - Your point about boot camp is sooooo true. My DI was a black man, and he did not spare the rod. He would call Black ******s, Italians wops, Whites crackers, Hispanics spicks and when he found out I was Jewish well let just say hymie was my name not only in boot camp , but my MOS school as well. He broke us all down to the lowest form to build us up as a unit/team/brotherhood. That's why its called basics, because basically they are going to brake you down to build you up
I truly loved that man and next to my father w/o a doubt the most influential person in my life.
So I truly do understand when people see no issue with the sideline rant on the assistant. To me it was a common thing back in the day it was the coach and your father taking turns.
The difference to me is I'm not sure how the ND hierarchy is viewing this. Does it lose the meaning of what's being tough especially to the players who are close with that assistant.
A lot of poster might find this hard to believe but I like coach Kelly. Coach Kelly Is an outstanding administrator. Excellent recruiter, he is a fiery guy which is another thing I like There is little I do not like aside from the offensive philosophy. Even some of the head scratchers for calls isn't that big a deal to me, because I have made my share. Sure I was hoping for another coach, but ND truly could have and have done worse. With all the tit for tat regulars do you start defending a position skewing the big picture. That doesn't only go for me, but most I believe.
Thanks for the comments, and great story. I'm pretty proud of my kid. He went in a 25 and had a lot of things going for him, but he just really felt it was something he needed to do. The first "real" letter he sent home was basically, "Don't send me anything. No pictures, no food, nothing. I don't want these guys knowing anything about me." A week later (Christmas) his mom sent him hand-warmers because she heard it got cold at night in San Diego. He said he paid for that until he graduated. And he just found out he'll be going for Arctic Training in Norway this winter.
But back to football - I think its a great point about the tit-for-tat stuff skewing the big picture. It happens to all of us. It would be nice if we could temper our pride and egos a bit more to cut each other a little slack. I think sometimes people just need a little drama. I get sucked in from time to time too.
I like the same things about Kelly you do. My concern list is a bit longer, but I think Kelly is a good fit at ND for a ton of reasons. I'd feel better if we could convincingly get through a November looking like we had genuinely improved over the course of the season. I've always thought good teams get better as the season goes on. Our opener was our most complete game of the season. I don't know what to make of that.
Our opener was great because Texas was pathetic - I prefer the way we responded to USC and Temple to that performance - if finally felt like they could take the game away from people.
Did your son get to train in Norway with the Royal Marines? Cheers.
Bryggen(SP?) is neat. Lots of Vikings stuff as you can imagine.
