It’s happening.Georgia will beat Tennessee Saturday and move right back into the top 8. They might as well just put the whole sec in the 12 team playoff. What next after 3 losses. Still get in ?

Unless strange things happen the final playoff will be 4 SEC 4 B1G 1Acc 1Big 12 1G5 and if they win out NDIt’s happening.
Yes. We should be ranked 6th on TuesdayDo we think that ND is still trending for a top 8 seed, and a home game?
CBS had them at 10 today. At Georgia in Rd 1, then vs Bama in Rd 2....
the way things look if we win out we will be probably fifth or sixths as teams keep beating each otherI think there’s a real chance that the final CFP rankings are going to REALLY upset some people here. And no, I’m not implying I think they’ll finish outside of the top 12.
We'll be between the 5th and 7th seed if we win outI think there’s a real chance that the final CFP rankings are going to REALLY upset some people here. And no, I’m not implying I think they’ll finish outside of the top 12.
They are smoking somthing......honestly....ND is playing a ranked Army team....and then USC....win both and I guarantee you ND hosts a playoff game as likely the #6 seed.Do we think that ND is still trending for a top 8 seed, and a home game?

Agree w you. They are smoking somthing......honestly....ND is playing a ranked Army team....and then USC....win both and I guarantee you ND hosts a playoff game as likely the #6 seed.
#7 seed IMO. Loser of big ten championship gets 5 seed, penn state 6, ND or loser of sec championship (if texas) gets 7They are smoking somthing......honestly....ND is playing a ranked Army team....and then USC....win both and I guarantee you ND hosts a playoff game as likely the #6 seed.
if indiana loses to ohio state I think they will be traveling first round (only chance they stay at 7 or 8 seed with a loss is if it's an epic game and very close)It would really be something to see 3 SEC teams have to play in South Bend, Crappy Valley, and say Bloomington in late December.
NO, if we beat Army & USC there is no way Penn St will be ranked higher than us. They will only beaten 1 ranked team all year and we will have 4. Only way B1G would get the 5th seed is if Oregon lost. We will be no lower than 6 if we win out.#7 seed IMO. Loser of big ten championship gets 5 seed, penn state 6, ND or loser of sec championship (if texas) gets 7
If ND can win more convincingly than P-St did at the Coliseum that would also help. Obviously winning is paramount but P-ST needed OT.NO, if we beat Army & USC there is no way Penn St will be ranked higher than us. They will only beaten 1 ranked team all year and we will have 4. Only way B1G would get the 5th seed is if Oregon lost. We will be no lower than 6 if we win out.
What happens to Ohio St if Indiana beats them?So we’re rooting for Oregon to win the big 10
If they don’t they could grab the 5 th seed.
Who we rooting for and against in the next 3 weeks ?
They drop in the rankings. Probably in the 7 to 11 rangeWhat happens to Ohio St if Indiana beats them?
I think one of the sec teams gets left out. What happens to Ohio St if Indiana beats them?
Unless Ohio St. wins by 28 points or more. Then Indiana may get left out, IMO.I think one of the sec teams gets left out.
They gotta still be in unless they get crushed. Two losses to two 12-0 teams and you should be in.What happens to Ohio St if Indiana beats them?
I think the loser of that game should drop behind us, no matter the score (provided we take care of business vs. Army, of course). They gotta still be in unless they get crushed. Two losses to two 12-0 teams and you should be in.
For seeding, we probably want IU to win or a sound OSU victory so ND can jump Indiana.
I’ll probably still root for IU the whole way just cuz.
Swell. You adore him?The Lincoln Riley buyout is 90 million after this season.
You could argue that in life itself, he’s indeed doing a swell job.
It’s a tough call because of the Indiana schedule and the bad ND loss. It’s hard to penalize Indiana for a very close loss. It should also count for something that Indiana is soundly beating everyone but Michigan.I think the loser of that game should drop behind us, no matter the score (provided we take care of business vs. Army, of course).
But that might mean 8th when seedlings are doled out. Right now there are 4 BIG and 2 SEC teams in front of ND. 4 conference champs get top 4 seeds, then the other BIG and SEC teams get pushed back and so does ND.Yes. We should be ranked 6th on Tuesday
That 5-5 michigan team they beat by just a few is their best win. Yes we would have a much much worse loss, but probably 3 better wins than indiana. It’s a tough call because of the Indiana schedule and the bad ND loss. I like the idea of keeping Indiana in front of ND with a tight loss to OSU and maybe jumping ND ahead of them if A&M finishes 10-2. Seems like a nice middle ground.
I agree with everything you wrote here up to the point where you threw Georgia in the same category as Alabama. Georgia's schedule is in a completely different category than Alabama's, IMO. The Bulldogs should certainly be the highest 2-loss team and should probably be ahead of most 1-loss teams if they win out. Here’s how we see if there are some shenanigans. How does the committee put Alabama ahead of ND from here on out when Bama played FCS Mercer, 5-5 Oklahoma, and probable 4-7 Auburn?
Meanwhile, ND played 5-4 Virginia, 9-0 Army (ranked by the committee), probable 6-5 USC. So unless Alabama dominates and ND barely gets by, Alabama has no business jumping ND unless they win the SEC. Even if ND barely gets by, it would be debatable that Bama should be in front of them (according to the committee’s own rankings).
Pretty much the same case for Georgia and Tennessee. It would be BS, according to the committee’s own current rankings, for any two loss SEC team to jump a one loss ND.
Thanks for the response. I was speaking more to the committee’s own logic rather than what you or I think. Georgia’s remaining games are Massachusetts and Georgia Tech who ND beat soundly. So it would be hard to justify the committee then turning around and bumping them ahead of ND according to their own rankings.I agree with everything you wrote here up to the point where you threw Georgia in the same category as Alabama. Even if they were to jump us, we move ahead of Tennessee this week and probably ahead of the loser of IU/OSU next week, so we're in great shape to host our first playoff game.
The only way I see Indiana maybe staying ahead of us is if they lose a very close game to Ohio State. But it would have to be very close. We have several better wins than they do, and our loss was much earlier in the season. We'll have a 10-game winning streak if we finish 11-1.It’s a tough call because of the Indiana schedule and the bad ND loss. It’s hard to penalize Indiana for a very close loss. Agree. I think a 14 point loss should probably cause them to get bumped behind ND. A last possession loss and I can’t be mad if they stay in front of ND.The only way I see Indiana maybe staying ahead of us is if they lose a very close game to Ohio State. I was thinking one score or less would have to be their deficit, but we generally agree otherwise.Agree. I think a 14 point loss should probably cause them to get bumped behind ND. A last possession loss and I can’t be mad if they stay in front of ND.
I do think if OSU loses again to Oregon, no matter the circumstances, that they should drop behind ND.
That's the old rankings. When the new ranking comes out tom it will be 4 BIG and 1 secBut that might mean 8th when seedlings are doled out. Right now there are 4 BIG and 2 SEC teams in front of ND. 4 conference champs get top 4 seeds, then the other BIG and SEC teams get pushed back and so does ND.
A rematch between OSU and Oregon, if it's a close game won't drop the loser below ND. Same could go for SECCG loser.
4 BIG teams will stay ahead of ND and an SEC team. ACC and BIG12 champs get slotted 3 and 4, that means 3 of the 4 BIG teams slide down to 5, 6, and 7, leaving ND at 8.That's the old rankings. When the new ranking comes out tom it will be 4 BIG and 1 sec
The loser of osu ind drops below us. We keep winning and we will be 5th next week
4 auto bids. Loser of big 10 and maybe ped state. I can't see us any lower than 7 in the Final ranking as long as we win out
LOL! He probably has a poster of LR in his mom's basement.Swell. You adore him?
6 tomorrow and 5 the week after because the loser of OSU Ind will be below us4 BIG teams will stay ahead of ND and an SEC team. ACC and BIG12 champs get slotted 3 and 4, that means 3 of the 4 BIG teams slide down to 5, 6, and 7, leaving ND at 8.
So even if ND is 6 tomorrow, it's not a true 6th.
If Indiana loses close, they may not drop below ND6 tomorrow and 5 the week after because the loser of OSU Ind will be below us
Week after Osu Ind
Oregon
OSU (assume they beat Ind)
Tex
Ped state
ND
Final ranking
1. Big
2. SEC
3. Acc
4. B12
5. Loser of big 10 champ
6. Ped state if we don't jump them
7. ND (lowest ranking if we win out)
5 to 7 will be our final ranking very likely
They have zero good wins. That would be very surprisingIf Indiana loses close, they may not drop below ND
