CFP Rankings

Deion won again last night. Can’t mock him today like you have done in the past and all of last season.

Gotta find someone.
I will mock the way he acts. He acts like a tool. So yes I can mock him

But is Norvell still elite or no ?

BYU with a 1 point win vs Utah.
I’m sure they will stay ahead of us in the polls.

Rivalry game.....honestly, it was awarded by the ref's unfortunately. Was it a hold, yep.....do they normally call those on the last play of the game when the ball never leaves the QBs hand, nope. Outside of Clemson getting their PI picked up against ND (bizarre), and the ACC over turning ND's FSU win with a "O-PI" in the end zone that has to be one of the worst calls ever made by a ref. Granted, UT could have stopped them again but you end the game with a saftey and the call defensive holding.

But the committee to date has been more about "how you look right now". No doubt, BYU and IU didnt pass the eye test.....I could see them pushing both below ND, but only if we were an SEC or B10 team. For now, just see them parking us at 10...

I saw what I needed to about PSU against OSU last week. They are not worthy of a 6th in playoff rankings. They were my wildcard and I couldn't make them out tbh. Only thing I can think of is the rankings people put more weight on the BIG10 vs someone like BYU out in Pac12 land, which we all know is a shell of a conference at this point.

Nonetheless, we'll all know exactly who is who by the end of the month. lol. We just need to finish strong and win out... thats it.. simple.
Except BYU is not in the PAC12, they are in the BIG12.

Honestly, if we go by the past years of the committee, they do a lot of eye test and progression. The look at H2H.....They look more at quality wins than losses.....

I will put my ranking our there for fun......

Oregon, OSU, TX, PSU, UTn, IU, ND, BYU, Bama, Ole M, UGA, Miami....

Doesn’t Norvel make $6mil/year? You should be so lucky to be that bad. He’s laughing at you.

Jk
Mike Norvell is laughing at nobody.

Do you see the state of the program that he leads? He's not laughing. At anything or anybody.

Well, at 10.5 million per season through 2031, and a buyout of 63.0 million, no one should be laughing at Mike Norvell as well.

While Marcus Freeman was losing to Clemson and Louisville in 2023, and sending out 10 on defense against Ohio St. while getting beat, Mike Norvell experienced an undefeated regular season and won the ACC in 2023. Tough season in 2024, really tough for Norvell. Shit happens.

ND 7th in AP and 8th in Coaches.....moved ahead of BYU in AP......good place to be....We have UT/UGA up next.....if UGA can get past them and you have IU/OSU.....

Both of those could land us with a home game...lets go IRISH, peddle to the metal......idiot NBC announcer...."I dont like Notre Dame passing when they are up"......we dont get an auto bid Todd....LOL

I'm certainly not laughing at Norvell. I've got 6 years in college athletics, 4 as a player, then 2 as a GA. It's a brutal world, and I would never laugh at a guy who's struggling. Your mood and outlook changes by the hour.

Norvell is 1-9 and just got stomped by 50.

The last thing on his mind is the 23 season (didn't make the playoffs, btw). He's gonna be out of job in a month. That's not a scenario where you laugh at anyone.

When conference championships are decided, these rankings will change drastically to reflect the automatic byes. Everytime a number 15 wins the conference, everyone gets bumped down a slot. I'm curious to see how bad it effects the teams between 8 and 12

Georgia will beat Tennessee Saturday and move right back into the top 8. They might as well just put the whole sec in the 12 team playoff. What next after 3 losses. Still get in ?

Tennessee has a very good defense. And they've already beaten Alabama. So I wouldn't be surprised if they won that one, although Georgia has the home field.

I get your point, but in all honestly, the SEC is by far the toughest conference and they usually cannibalize themselves each year. Its very difficult to go unbeaten in that conference.

Georgia in particular has played these ranked teams... Clemson, Alabama, Texas, Ole Miss, Tennessee. Georgia Tech might not be an easy out either.

To me, its tough for these committees and the conferences. If the committees don't account for how rough a conference is, then we could see the end of conferences as these teams will seak to water their schedules down to prop their record up to ensure they have a much better path to the playoffs. Of course, its just one year and next year one or two teams could dominate the conference and make it an easy choice.

Good points.
But watering down the schedule is exactly what Michigan and Ohio state have been doing for the past few years. They play 1-2 tough games a season and coast to 11-1 and make the playoff.

I don't see any 3-loss teams making it this year. So if Georgia drops that Tennessee game, they'd probably be out.

Not so fast my friend. There are already 3 2-loss SEC teams ahead of 1-loss ACC and BIG12 teams. What makes you think a 3-loss SEC team won't jump a 2-loss team?

Considering the Georgia schedule, and winning at Texas, you could make a case for Georgia at 9-3 being #12, especially if Texas wins the SEC.

There are likely to only be one team each from the ACC and Big 12 - the champions. And they get auto-bids. A 9-3 Georgia would be getting left out for 2-loss SEC teams like Alabama and Ole Miss, under the scenario I was describing. And they lost to both of those teams.

No it doesn't. It's the same worthless mood always. Stick around long enough and you will see.

So we're now up to #8, with the 9th seed tonight. We'd be playing at Tennessee in the first round. So if we move up one more spot, we'd be in position to host a game.

South Carolina has no business being in front of LSU. They’re both 6-3. LSU won head to head @South Carolina and LSU has the better win: #11 compared to #15 for So Car.

I think Penn State should be ahead of Texas as well. Penn State has a closer loss to a better team by the committee’s own admission.

So Car beat the good team that beat LSU by a lot just like LSU beat the team that beat So Car by a lot. They’re close enough to where you need to give the nod to LSU.

Ped state doesn't belong in the top 8 let alone number 3

Penn State would lose to Texas, and does not belong in the top 5. Nowhere close.

Agree on LSU over South Carolina.

They didn't say 2 words about ND and that 3 loss rhetoric has already started. Reece and his Alabama loving/SEC, I don't even try to hide it anymore Davis really has become insufferable! He's not even that knowledgeable but, along w/ Fowler & OSU Herbie ND has been treated like an unwanted step-child for 3 decades by these clowns! It all started from that station when they turned ND into the enemy the day they signed on w/ NBC!

The SEC is top to bottom the best conference in CFB. No one is close top to bottom.

It was sarcasm brother. Aimed at the posters who think they make good money, they’re incapable of being criticized

We just need to take care of our business... end of story. OSU is going to clobber Indiana this week so that should punt them out. The conference title games should punt a few teams out of the way too. If we win out... we should be in a great position heading to the playoffs.

personally, I want Penn State... and I want to curb stomp them so I can shut up all the people around me here in state college... lol.

SMU should be in front of Boise State. Way different schedules and they both have a loss.
I'm not impressed by this year's Committee. They have several rankings I'd disagree with, including that one. Also, I thought they should've dropped Miami further. They'd barely won a bunch of games even before losing to Georgia Tech last week.

That's fine but it doesn't matter. If SMU wins the ACC they will be #4. Boise best shot is #10-#12

True, SMU controls their own destiny. But actually, there are scenarios in which Boise could get the #4 seed and a bye, and the Big 12 champ could be further down.

If the committee can rank teams with more losses ahead of other teams with less losses, then BYU has no business being ahead of ND this Tuesday.

After today you may be right

I watched the Boise game they are not a playoff team. San Jose State gave the game away they had a chance to go up 17-0 but for some reason the coach calls timeout sends out the offense and tries a trick play at the 4 yard line and Boise stops them gets momentum and goes down scores and just like that's it's 14-7 and they never looked back. Also did another trick play on 3-1 at midfield down 7 with a chance to tie?? The offensive coordinator needs fired.
