247Sports Reporting possible exit deal with Kelly

There is a flight scheduled to depart from South Bend to Eugene tomorrow bearing a tail number similar to one ND has used in the past.

I presume if Kelly was flying to Oregon it would be on Oregon's or Nike's plane, not ND's.

247 sports reporting ND would be willing to negotiate an exit with Kelly -- as his name was linked to Oregon. Firing him will cost ue too much but if he lands at Oregon a deal can be reached.

Question is if this is true...who do we get that is a true upgrade?

no one is an upgrade!

think of the embarressing moments for 7 years suffered by ND! How can a respectable university tolerate or employ an employee who conducts themselves as he has for some time.

0-12 w/o Keligula is better than 12-0 with him; and I am sincere on the opinion. Sometimes it goes beyond W&L. Sometimes dignity humility and grace are more important considerations!

I went over to FootballScoop.com and entered the quote from the article attributed to them in their search box, "Notre Dame would be willing to negotiate an exit from the 6-year extension Kelly signed just last year should the right opportunity arise." Their was no article on their website containing that quote. I didn't expect to find anything since I went through their articles and didn't find anything about Kelly leaving ND. This is the second bogus article reported on that site since Sunday. It appears they're wanting to get the scoop on the story but are only giving us poop. Stick with Rivals and they'll give us accurate information when it comes down from ND sports fans.

I wondered about that.Took a quick look around the site quoted in the afternoon and found nothing. I thought maybe they had already taken it down...which didn't make much sense. Figure the silence from ND is more telling than an article on the net. :)

Don't worry Alice, if there is no news, someone on this board will create it. Be patient. I am taking the silence as not really silence at all. Rather, everyone is going about their business and working.

Agreed. There's a lot flying around right now. But there are some discussions being had that are prolonging any news from from coming out

If this rumor were true ... big if ... it could easily be worth it monetarily to pay for Kelly's trip to Oregon

Reports Oregon reaching out to Schiano. Get off your arses ND admin and fire or buyout Kelly before the best coaching candidates are gone. At least leak out that ND is reaching out to Schiano too.

as to the 'deal': too much noise to be ignored.
as to the search? the lack of indicates there is not going to be one. There never was.

I am not sure if these reports are accurate. Just my guess based on questions and statements here. Assuming the Head Coach's are permitted to visit players for recruitment... Is Kelly still recruiting ? If yes then he will be most likely be back; if not the admin is most likely negotiating an exist strategy for Kelly and looking for a new coach at the same time. The article provides info that the Irish cannot afford to fire him. My best guess is that is complete speculation not fact. The admin can afford to and more than likely does not want to waste their money. However the real question is can they afford to keep Kelly. I still do not get the delay in announcing intentions. i gotta believe their will be a presser one way or the other. The students, the fans, the media are clamoring for info

Announcement will come this weekend after season is completed for most schools. New head coach should be announced shortly thereafter, i.e. when Fleck finishes his team's season. Kelly's still looking for a job, but that will not prevent ND from making a move. Money is not the big issue here. Not for this type of decision. The ND Board of Directors know this. Soon, ...very soon. (Fingers crossed)

Zona -- that is the thing that is most bothersome to Irish fans -- it is utterly quiet on ND's front. Nothing from Kelly, the administration, assistants....as you said --are they recruiting? I realize they cannot speak about specifics, but something to keep the fan base engaged. I know the old saying -- no news is good news, but with all the uproar about the inuendos of Kelly's people inquiring about opportunities (true or false, no one really knows) -- even a statement by Jack could help semi-calm the nerves of people.

And yes, I am sure there is a lot more going on behind the doors than any of us will ever know about. But, it is eerily quiet on the ND front.

Kelly was probably aware for a time that his time was up at ND.
He probably has a window to find a spot.
Probably till Fri.

At this point JS has his decision on 'who' and it s just a matter of waiting on K.

Kelso: agree 100%. The only thing I can add here is the admin should make a decision and let everyone know ASAP. The clock is running on good available coaches.

There is no way that Oregon hires BK. I think that they would take Chip back in a heartbeat. The rumors I'm hearing out here for Oregon are Schiano and Fleck.

I have also read where Oregon has strong interest in Willie Taggart from USF.

247 Sports seems to be trending towards a website that is only interested in getting you to click on a headline. Rarely do they have any substance.

The Rival website for Oregon has a very good article explaining the why behind the firing of their HC who has a very good four year record. Thought I was reading an article about Kelly! More to the point, lots of Board discussion about possible replacements, and our Kelly does not get a lot of mention. Many of the same names thrown around here are thrown around there.

Yes! And after those games this weekend the new coach - hopefully Fleck, will be announced.
