Notre Dame 2024 safety target Oliver Miles III committed to Texas Tech on Sunday.

Miles visited Notre Dame for its Blue-Gold Game and took his official visit to the Irish last month. However, he wasn't in a rush to commit to Notre Dame following that visit and the Irish added two more safeties — four-star Brauntae Johnson and three-star Taebron Bennie-Powell — later in June.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound recruit attends El Campo (Tex.) High and chose the Red Raiders over Notre Dame, Houston, Stanford and others.

Inside ND Sports had Miles listed as Medium on The Heat Index.

Rivals rates Miles as a three-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting class. He is ranked as the No. 52 athlete, a designation given for multi-positional prospects, in the 2024 class.

Recruiting 2025 four-star CB target Tariq Hayer on Notre Dame visit, coaching staff

I spoke with Notre Dame 2025 cornerback target Tariq Hayer on Wednesday. The four-star recruit is listed as an athlete, a position designated for multi-positional prospects, by Rivals. However, the Irish are recruiting him as a cornerback. He is listed at 6-foot, 175-pounds.

Hayer competed at Notre Dame's Evaluation Camp II last week and toured campus. The Washington (D.C.) St. John's College High product said the visit was beneficial and grew his connection with cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens.

"Our relationship was just facetime calls but after the visit, I got to know him way better and what type [of] coach he is," Hayer told Inside ND Sports.

Hayer hauled in four interceptions as a sophomore and said Mickens' coaching focused on how to move his feet and arms most effectively.

Head coach Marcus Freeman also received some praise from Hayer.

"He isn’t a coach that sells lies," Hayer said. "He only speaks [the] truth."

Hayer reports 17 total offers including Notre Dame, Maryland, Ole Miss, Penn State, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin. He visited the Badgers after Notre Dame and said his trip went great. Hayer said the Irish are near the front of his recruitment currently because of their education and football that other schools can't match.

The Irish will host the Hoyas this season and travel to Washington (DC.) for its away game in 2024-25.

Dates for each game have not been announced.

Georgetown leads the all-time series 16-13. The Hoyas won their last matchup against the Irish in January 2013 before Notre Dame left to join the the ACC.

Recruiting 2024 S target Marquis Gallegos commits to USC

Notre Dame 2024 safety target Marquis Gallegos committed to USC on Tuesday.

Gallegos, a three-star recruit according to Rivals, chose the Trojans over Notre Dame, Michigan, Oklahoma and Oregon.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound defender Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon visited Notre Dame twice during his recruitment, including a trip in April. However, the Irish elected to move in a different direction and not host Gallegos on an official visit.

Instead, the Irish took a commitment from three-star safety Kennedy Urlacher in early May, roughly a week after Gallegos visited campus. The Irish have recently added to their safety board with four-star athlete Braunate Johnson and three-star Taebron Bennie-Powell.

Inside ND Sports had Gallegos listed as Mild on The Heat Index. He'll have an opportunity to play against the Irish on a yearly basis during his college career.

For full coverage of Gaellegos' commitment, head over to TrojanSports.

Notre Dame 2025 defensive end target Christopher Burgess Jr. earned defensive line MVP at the Rivals NextGen Five-Star Pro Day in Atlanta on Wednesday.

Recruiting 2024 LB target Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa recaps Notre Dame official visit

I talked with Notre Dame 2024 linebacker target Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa late Tuesday night.

The Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco product jumped 25 spots in the latest Rivals 2024 player rankings and is ranked as the No. 35 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class.

After his official visit, the four-star linebacker highlighted his biggest takeaways from the trip.

Viliamu-Asa said head coach Marcus Freeman’s final message centered around how much he wanted him but also that he’ll support him wherever his decision is.

“The time spent with Coach Freeman was imperative in getting a feel for how he his and who he is,” Viliamu-Asa told Inside ND Sports. “It was very beneficial and spoke volume for the head coach to make effort to spend time with us.”

The Irish see Viliamu-Asa as a centerpiece to their defense and have told him they’d use him in the box, coming off the edge and in pass coverage.

Viliamu-Asa and his family are looking closely at education. He told me Notre Dame’s laid out an impressive plan for him and he’s comfortable with making the move from California because of its resources and network.

“Attending the University of Notre Dame changes the perception of the kind of person you are and people want to hire you,” Viliamu-Asa said. “The type of people I’ve already met and from what I hear about the benefits of a Notre dame degree has opened my eyes to how this university is different from others.”

During his Ohio State official visit this weekend, Viliamu-Asa said he’s looking at defensive fit and culture but also what Ohio provides beyond football.

A July commitment is the plan. Notre Dame is in Viliamu-Asa’s final three alongside Ohio State and USC.
