Recruiting Notre Dame visitors preview: Analyzing talent expected to be on campus

I'll use this thread to update visitors that I'm adding to the running visitors list thread for Notre Dame's game against Central Michigan on Saturday. This will be the second recruiting weekend for the Irish this season after their home opener against Tennessee State earlier this month.

Two names have already been confirmed since last week.

2025 QB target Bear Bachmeier

Football Audric Estimé hits 20.9 MPH on 80-yard TD run against NC State

According to Reel Analytics, Notre Dame junior running back Audric Estimé clocked in a max speed of 20.9 MPH on his 80-yard rushing touchdown in the 45-24 win at NC State last Saturday.

Reel Analytics is "an AI-powered sports tech & data company analyzing video to measure athleticism so coaches can evaluate talent more accurately."

In comparison to a few Irish 2024 commits, running back Anyeas Williams hit a max speed of 20.5 MPH, wide receiver Cam Williams clocked in at 22.0 MPH and cornerback Karson Hobbs hit 21.1 MPH earlier this season.

Estimé currently leads the FBS in rushing yards with 345. His 80-yard touchdown against the Wolfpack was the longest of his career after previously setting that mark the previous week against Tennessee State with a 50-yard gain.

Recruiting Submitting a QB FutureCast prediction in favor of Notre Dame

I'm ready to pull the trigger on this one.

With 2025 quarterback target Bear Bachmeier making his way to campus this weekend for an unofficial visit around the Central Michigan game, I believe he's going to be the answer for Notre Dame's quarterback need in the class.

If all goes well for Bachmeier and Notre Dame, I think he'll beat Deuce Knight to the punch and commit to the Irish first. Will that all go down as soon as this weekend? We'll see. I certainly wouldn't rule it out.

Regardless, I think Notre Dame comes out of the weekend feeling even better about its chances with Bachmeier, so I'm going to put my Rivals FutureCast prediction in Notre Dame's favor. I'll officially submit it publicly on Friday, but I wanted to give a heads up to our subscribers on The Insider Lounge first.

If you want more information on Bachmeier, I'd suggest reading this story from @Eric Hansen back when the Irish offered him in July.

Friday afternoon update:

The intrigue builds. I'm told Notre Dame now expects Knight to visit Notre Dame next weekend for the Ohio State game.

Will Bachmeier beat Knight to the punch as I predicted? Or will he keep the door open for Knight to follow through on his visit?

For what it's worth, I've been told Notre Dame wouldn't turn down a commitment from Bachmeier even with the knowledge that Knight wants to visit next week.

Seems like a pretty good situation for the Irish right now.

Recruiting 2025 DT commit Davion Dixon sets visit for Ohio State game

Notre Dame 2025 defensive tackle commit Davion Dixon told Inside ND Sports on Friday he plans to visit campus on Sept. 23 for the Ohio State game.

It will be Dixon’s first visit to campus since July when he visited for the Grill & Chill recruiting event.

Dixon told me both of his parents will accompany him on this visit.

The 6-foot-2, 306-pound defender was the first commit in Notre Dame’s 2025 recruiting class back in April. He attends Miami (Fla.) Palmetto.

Dixon is rated as a four-star prospect according to Rivals. He is ranked as the No. 11 defensive tackle in the class.

Since he committed to Notre Dame, Dixon has reported several new offers including Georgia, Miami (Fla.), Ohio State. He has not taken any visits other than his July trip to Notre Dame.

The Hurricanes have prioritized Dixon since offering in late July.

"They communicate with me every day," Dixon said in August. "Send me pictures of how beautiful the campus is. It's just a lot of communication."

Basketball MBB: 2025 C target Christian Gurdak sets visit for Ohio State football game

Notre Dame men's basketball 2025 center target Christian Gurdak told Inside ND Sports on Thursday night he has set an unofficial visit for Sep. 23.

He'll watch Notre Dame football against Ohio State after spending the day with head coach Micah Shrewsberry, the coaching staff and current Irish players.

The 6-foot-8, 220-pound center holds four offers from Notre Dame, Iowa, Maryland and Penn State. He visited Maryland in July.

Gurdak visited the Nittany Lions last fall and instantly clicked with Shrewsberry. In June, I caught up with Gurdak and he detailed their relationship and why Shrewsberry is someone he wants to play for.

Gurdak attends Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga College High and played on the grassroots basketball circuit for Team Takeover, the same program that Notre Dame 2024 power forward commit Garrett Sundra, one of Gurdak's best friends, played for. Before he transferred to Gonzaga College High, Gurdak also played with Sundra at Fairfax (Va.) Paul VI.

Rivals hasn't given a rating or ranking to Gurdak at this time.

Basketball 2025 PG Gregory Lawson feeling great on relationship with Notre Dame

I caught up with Notre Dame men's basketball 2025 point guard prospect Gregory Lawson earlier this week. Lawson was visited by assistant coach Ryan "Ghost" Owens on Tuesday at Davison (Mich.) High.

Lawson has prior relationships with Owens, head coach Micah Shrewsberry and director of recruiting Brian Snow.

“My level of contact with Notre Dame has been pretty high, me and my dad have spoken with B Snow, coach Shrews and Ghost," Lawson told Inside ND Sports. "Ghost came up to watch us play in an open gym me [and] a few teammates and some college guys. Ghost is really cool he got the time to talk to the coaches on my high school staff. The best thing is he got to meet my mom, most coaches know my dad but not my mom.”

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound recruit has 11 offers including Arkansas, Florida State, Louisville, Penn State and TCU and is expected to visit Michigan State this weekend. He described himself as a three-level scorer who likes to run the offense and involve his teammates.

Lawson has set an unofficial visit for Oct. 14. That is the Saturday Notre Dame football hosts USC. Lawson said he's excited for the football game but also wants to see the family atmosphere around the basketball program.

"I love football and I want to see how crazy the fans get," Lawson said. "I want to see some great coaching in practice, the competitiveness from both players and coaches [and] I want to see how the staff pushes and challenge the team. Everybody’s a nice guy in the recruiting process, I want to see the real stuff. I want to learn about the academic side as well my mom is a huge academic person."

Lawson played on the grassroots basketball circuit with Indy Heat Gym Rats with 2025 five-star shooting guard target Jalen Haralson and 2025 four-star power forward target Trent Sisley, who has since switched to Indiana Elite. Haralson also plans to visit on Oct. 14.

Recruiting 2025 CB target Cree Thomas sets game day visit for Oct.

Notre Dame 2025 cornerback target Cree Thomas has finalized a return visit to Notre Dame after visiting for spring practice in April.

The 6-foot-1, 170-pound recruit told Inside ND Sports on Thursday that he has locked in a visit for Oct. 28. The Irish host Pittsburgh on that Saturday.

Thomas, the No. 31 cornerback in the 2025 recruiting class, attends Phoenix (Ariz.) Brophy Prep, the same school that sophomore cornerback Benjamin Morrison attended. Thomas said he's felt the love from Notre Dame since Aug. 1 when the recruiting staff contacted him once the clock struck midnight. Among Notre Dame's 2025 defensive targets, Thomas was one of the standouts for his performance last week.

According to Rivals, Thomas is a three-star recruit. Through three games this season, Thomas has nine tackles, two interceptions and one pass deflection. He returned one of his interceptions for a pick-6.

To keep up with the upcoming visits, we will have updates on the running visitors list thread.
