Notre Dame 2024 safety commit Kennedy Urlacher plans to sign this week during the three-day-early signing period and enroll in January. The four-star recruit out of Chandler (Ariz.) visited campus three times in his recruitment, with the latest trip coming in September for the Ohio State game.
The 6-foot, 185-pound recruit had 47 tackles including 15 solo this season. He also forced two fumbles and defended one pass. In 33 career high school games, Urlacher finished with 127 tackles, 13 passes defended and three interceptions for the Wolves.
Urlacher had his in-home visit earlier this month with head coach Marcus Freeman, defensive coordinator Al Golden, safeties coach Chris O'Leary and cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens all in attendance.
"My in-home visit was great and it’s always good to have the coaches around," Urlacher told
Inside ND Sports. "I would say my favorite moment was playing ping pong with everyone."
Urlacher said he was a big fan of Xavier Watts this season and watched his game closely. Their relationship dates back to June when Ulracher and his family went out to dinner on his official visit with a group including Watts.
"He was one of the players that went to dinner with me and my family when we visited ... so seeing that is great," Urlacher said. "It’s particularly exciting to me because coach O'Leary and the coaching staff helped develop him into the best defensive player in college football."
Urlacher has met every commit except Guerby Lambert, Anthonie Knapp, Kedren Young and Jack Larsen. He said the two things he's looking forward to the most in January are bonding with other freshmen and working with the coaching and strength staff.
Per Rivals, Urlacher is the No. 10 player in Arizona and No. 37 safety in the 2024 class.
