Cam Ward opts out of the 2nd half

Then why play any games after the team has been eliminated? They knew after seven games (5-2) that they wouldn't make the playoffs...why play after that?
Another frustration of mine. The whole point of sitting out is because you've peaked as a NFL draft prospect and don't want to play to risk an injury right? But if that's the reason then why would you play any games that even if you perform well, will not improve your draft stock? Are you somehow more susceptible to injury in a bowl game instead of a regular season game? Just letting fear guide the decision.

Cam Ward quitting at halftime

I saw Cam Ward took himself out of the game after halftime today. Thoughts? Bush league to me.
You're a little late to the party, but here you go:

When thirty (30) plus players

Many colleges have degrees where you can walk in, do nothing, and still easily get a high enough grade on tests. You don't even have to be fully matriculated. If I remember correctly, Tim Tebow at Florida took 0 courses his last semester, maintaining a 3.4 GPA in a program where the average GPA was 3.7.

College football has long academically accommodated athletes. So the question on mandatory attendance is moot. Like we keep discussing, it's a farce...but the mob always has, does, and always will pay to see the gladiator games.

They could care less about college.
This does not sound like Notre Dame.

When thirty (30) plus players

Sounds like my high-school

I'm in my late 50s and old school culture. Family, Catholic Church, alma mater, country. No doubt I pursued success, but did it honorably.

Things have changed. Like I said, college football, all sports and entertainment for the most part, are circus maximus. Even my beloved soccer is being watered down, where quantity reigns over quality. Pack in as many games and teams, they will come and pay $$$.

This is why I stand by Notre Dame in football and Croatia in soccer. 2 outfits that have the old school stuff...and perhaps can evolve to maintain this while leveraging the new.

I'd love nothing more than for the Irish to win a NC to spite the factories where collegial tradition, allegiance, and unity mean nothing.
