This is getting ridiculous. What message are we sending to kids of America when this happens without any consequences? I'm absolutely disgusted.

You can't even do this in the NFL, as just a couple of weeks ago Devondre Campbell walked out on his team and got called out for it by everyone. As a result, he got suspended abd will likely never play again. But somehow in college, this is OK??

I'm shocked he played at all! A meaningless game. He's the #1 pick. Why chance it? Hartman didn't even take that chance!

They still would have lost

I know, that was awesome. Emory Williams, Miami's QB of the future, had to take over. I think it's great. It's like a preview for next season. And they split it up with the two halves. A little microcosm.

I presume its because he wanted the NCAA all time passing TDs record and he got that before halftime. If that's true, then it's a classic case of let's put individual glory before team glory.
I guess that's true. It's hard to argue with that. But I prefer my narrative. Out with the old in with the new. They got one half with Cam Ward one with the new guy.

I certainly wouldn't call them quitters. They are in a billion dollar industry and made a wise business decision given all the circumstances. Smart to me.
So put your financial future before the team who needs and wants you to play one last time? That's the message we should send to our kids of America?

I'm truly asking then... what is your definition of a quitter?

Anything other reason than a business decision should be as acceptable as well then if that the new game don't you think?

It’s certainly not yours.

I 100 per cent support Joe Alt sitting the bowl game last season.

Their responsibility is not sending messages to kids. I guarantee you their teammates understood and supported their decision. They understand what's at stake. It's a meaningless game with absolutely nothing at stake. Take the emotion out of it.

I think that's right back at you. It's a effin' bowl game, man. The pop tarts bowl. You get that, pop tarts. It ain't no thing. Don't worry about it.
If it ain't no thing then why participate in this discussion?

I am worried about it because the game I knew and loved growing up is no longer the same. And I worry about how this affects kids across America when they see this. Maybe it's silly of me to do that, but I'm doing it anyway.

I appreciate your viewpoint as a passionate fan. Being in the middle of it my vantage point is different. Doesn't make me any less of a fan though.

Of course it is. It's become a billion dollar industry. Risk vs reward in a game that has nothing at stake is an easy decision.
After a team loses 3 games, why don't they just shut the whole team down then right? It's all meaningless. Nothing matters. Just look out for yourself. What a culture to be around. Worked out great for FSU....

So they were all playing for nothing.......got it
Yeah, they were. They were playing for nothing. If you insist on putting it that way. You know what the mothereffin' deal is, don't play dumb. You know why these players sit out. But you're determined to resent them. When what you should be doing is not giving a shit either way. Their backup QB is a good scholarship player who's going to be their starter next year. That should be good enough.

These are exhibition games that were dreamed up by hustler entrepreneurs so they could make money off them. That's all they ever were and that's all they are today. When you see starting QBs sitting out the 2nd half of playoff games let me know.

Tell Joe Alt that.

Email his dad while you are at it.
