All the respect in the world to ND. Brey had a great game plan and his kids executed and played their hearts out. My contention is that in a one game set ND is as dangerous a team as their is college basketball. My belief is that KENTUCKY came out a little flat, didn't take ND very seriously and damn near lost, but if we played multiple times after the first meeting then Kentucky would win everyone of those games by 10-20 points. A second game would, I think prove this to be true. Thoughts, comments?

I agree. But that is what makes this tournament so great. You really can't take any team for granted. Notre Dame has a very good basketball team this year. Grant may be the only one on the team to make it in the NBA. Kentucky on the other hand has 5,6 or more right now that will play in the NBA. Villanova won in 1985. They beat what was considered then a superior Georgetown team that featured Pat Ewing. Yet for one game all the pieces fell into lplace and Nova won the national championship. Now had they played a 7 game series, Georgetown would have most likely won the next 4 games. Kentucky is clearly the more talented team, not to mention superior size. They should win by 20. They survived and move on. That is all that matters. Would of, should of, could of, doesn't matter. ND played about as good as you could, while Kentucky didn't play as good as they could have, yet still won. Anyway it was a great great game and as an ND fan, I have nothing to complain about. Good luck to Kentucky.

Disagree. Kentucky wasn't flat, they were outplayed, out hustled, in your faced and confused. They do have the superior depth, incredible size and talent (no one would argue that) but as a team we were better (if exhausted after basically five guys won the ACC and got us into the elite eight.) I didn't think it before the game but I believe ND would win if we played again.

Ask Izzo, Coach K, Roy Williams and Pitino -- all who lost to ND this year. Coach K the winningest of them all lost twice. Face it, we hit our last foul shots and you guys are out.

No disrespect. You have a great team and damn you did finish strong vs a tired ND squad.

But ND started the game with a few turnovers (not like them) and missed foul shots in the end (also not like them.)

Why can't anyone give credit to this team after what ND did this year?!

ND has a winning record (Duke 2-1; MSU 1-0; UK 0-1) against the current Final Four. Wisky has a winning record as well but both wins came against MSU with a loss to Duke.

You can't use being tired as an excuse. Kentucky had played just as many games to get to that point as ND did. ND was a really good team by all means, but I think UK handles them pretty easily in a best of 7 type series. But, as has been mentioned, that is what makes the tournament so great, in that it is one and done and that was certainly a great game.

Really?

Then why did former Kentucky great Anthony Davis say today that ND was the better team?

Why did Calipari state, "...Notre Dame had a great year and easily could be National Champions..."?

You had no answer for our speed, had an extraordinary shooting night and barely escaped.

We played below average with Connaughton, Jackson and Grant shooting a combined 8 for 31, plus our big man was in foul trouble courtesy of a crappy call which the announcers addressed correctly ....

Your post is disrespectful. The fact that you wrote "All the respect in the world to ND". means nothing.

You then drop a pile of crap on us.

My thought is that it may be time for you to post somewhere else....

PS Connaughton speed to rebounds and anticipation proved he was the best athlete on the floor.

He was already at the ball when your guys were leaving your feet.

Did you happen to catch Charles Barkley's remarks on Kentucky?

Something along the lines of, "They are the 8th grade team with a bunch of 6 footers...."

He's correct.

Disagree. You hit every shot you attempted from 12 mins on and won by 2, and it's not like they were all easy layups. We are a match up nightmare for you, and I would take ND to win more games out of 10 than UK.

I've read some places saying that ND played a near flawless game while UK didn't play well. I think UK played closer to their perfect game than ND did. We just did what we have done all year...spread teams out and attack them with pick & rolls. Hell we only went 4/14 from 3, and that included many open misses.

Good luck vs Wisky though. The vast majority of UK fans that have come over here have been classy & humble in victory.

The average Kentucky fan thought UK would come out and name the final score, but Coach Cal and the team knew ND would be a war. Coach Brey's game plan and the execution of that game plan made it an incredible game to watch. UK/ND drew the highest cable game viewed in broadcast history (9.0). I've watched every game UK and ND played this year. It was a marvelous game to watch by two teams that wanted it badly. Coach Brey admitted that he burned his last two timeouts to allow his team a needed blow, so I think fatigue played a role in Saturday's game. Kentucky did what they've done all year; they dug a little deeper in the last 2:30 and pulled the game out. What a game!
Well said.

I thought Barkley had some good comments afterward when the other analysts were saying Kentucky was off their game. He said something to the effect why does everyone always look for someone to blame and that maybe the close score was simply the result of Notre Dame having a good team.

This Kentucky thing needs to end just so the TV cameras stop focusing on Ashley Judd. You would think she invented the term "superfan".

Kentucky was beat.

59-53, Tyler Ulis hit the biggest shot of the season to put it back to a one possession game. Even amongst UK fans this shot is being glossed over. It took Towns having a career night to save the season. It took NINE straight field goals to win. It took burying a 25-foot three pointer and watching the favor returned to get through.

Count me in the camp that thought the West Virginia beat down had sent a message to the whole field. Only one post guy in Auguste? Obviously a height advantage at nearly every position? The defense able to extend out and challenge three-pointers? I've thought all year long the magic number is 12 made three's to beat Kentucky. However, that wasn't what was going on. Scoring came from all over the floor in every way. Drives, dunks, Auguste a beast. He raised his game to a level that was going to write a script of taking down an undefeated team, supposedly stocked with NBA guys. The clock melted fast and the lead wasn't going away.

I always wondered what Duke fans felt in 1992, having escaped. All UK fans should know exactly that feeling now. Sure, Wisconsin could end the season on Saturday, but I'm hoping it goes down like it did for the Duke team that year too, the game where they were beat in the Elite Eight helped get them through the next weekend.

What are the thoughts of hanging an "Unforgettables" banner? I know in Lexington the '92 team is revered for the very reasons the article mentioned.

P.S. - Ashley Judd has been around since the Tubby era on TV. She isn't Drake suddenly showing up. Just saying.

Still looking for validation from the ND fanbase.

Re: ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Yep, it's either that or playing with little green plastic soldiers....

Linked is a reenactment of "army man's" day....

PS Do you notice how their fans avoid the fact that three front line players for ND shot 8 for 31?

That was hardly our best shot and it was darn near good enough....

PS It's too bad they whistled Auguste for a foul that was a clear offensive on Towns as pointed out by the broadcasters....

If that foul's flipped...

It wasn't meant to be.... credit to them for not missing for over 10 minutes to end it.

PS Their best shot barely beat 8 for 31.....

With all the talent on paper Kentucky has they should have dominated the game. The fact is Notre Dame out played Kentucky. By the way... What are the majors if any of the BB players....

ND was a better team this season than kentucky. ND played a tougher schedule and had more impressive wins. ND outplayed kentucky for all of the game except for the last 34.7 seconds. Any non deluded kentucky fan would admit that uk deserved to lose and was lucky to escape.

Yet.... LOST

38-0
I was wrong. Ten years old.

You've put three things in quotes that don't exist in this thread.

Would you care to source those quotes?

We had an off night and almost pulled it out.

8 for 31 (Connaughton, Grant & Jackson)

Meanwhile kentucky shot above their season average for 3's and from the field.

The also had 7 more free throws.

ND shot below season average for 3's and from the field.

Again, we were off and they were "hot" as pistols.

At the end of the day we let it get away, but it took a perfect shooting effort from the field from kentucky in the final 12 minutes to squeak out a 2 point win....
