It would be a Randy Moss situation. I really want to play for my Dream school which is Notre Dame but too many corners would need to be cut to get me to South Bend. Kizer controlls his own future. If he plays well with minimal turnovers in the bowl game he will start next years first game. MZ should sit out next year to heal his injury rather than risk playing at less than 100%.

It is hard to imagine football players at ND competing for a starting slot.
When did this start? This could really help and may be among kelly's greatest coaching achievements. I just hope that other teams don't follow suit. Shame on the OP for sharing competitive secrets....

Anyone can lose their job, but some guys come into the off-season with the starting job already in hand and would actually have to do something to lose it
Other step into an open competition and have to win the job over other candidates who are on equal footing with them at the jump

The 2016 QB job at ND will be the 2nd one

You'll come to understand this as you follow football for than a couple days

Good luck learning about some basics in the near future, you have a LONG way to go

You might want to start by reading a depth chart this spring and noting how some positions have an "OR" listed on them right from the get go and others have an entrenched starter (who would actually have to lose the starting position)

they'll be no "or' at the qb spot.

I was not surprised by the "open" competition at QB statement. I just stated that no way is MZ going to win it. Of course, that's just my opinion and it's the coaches decision to make. I broke my cardinal rule by getting heated about something I am not in control of the outcome.
