Georgia Tech on offense

Thomas an excellent QB for triple option.
4 returning offensive linemen .
4 top running backs gone from last year.
2 of their top receivers gone .

Georgia Tech on defense.

Finished 9th or worse in every major defensive category in the ACC
Defensive line struggled to make plays in the backfield .
Ranked 61st in tackles for losses in FBS
Struggled to slow down the rush ,allowing 5.1 per carry ( ranked 102)

Positives on D line .returns All- ACC candidate at nose tackle Adam Gotsis, along with freshman All-American DE KeShun
Freeman and senior DT Jabari Hunt-Days .
4 returning starters in the secondary.

Got these stats from some college football mags .

Don't know how much they have improved on defense .Couldn't really tell from Alcorn and Tulane games. Should be able to exploit some weaknesses in the GT defense .? Control the clock running the ball ? Seems we can be effective with Kizer on offense.GT may have some kinks on defense.

Defending the GT offense ? Their offense was very potent in the last four 2014 games .Beat Clemson 28-6. Beat Georgia 30-24 in overtime.Lost to Florida St 35-37. Beat Mississippi St 49-34.Three of the four teams were ranked in the top 20 .

Any suggestions about our game plan .

Game plan?

Keep the ball out of Thomas's hands. Run the ball on offense and run it some more. Keep the clock moving. Don't risk negative plays offensively--stay in front of the down and distance schedule. If they allowed 5.1 yds per rush last year, then our OL should gash them for 7+.

Keys to a win: Zero turnovers, win time of possession, and force Thomas to make bad decisions in the passing game. Not through blitzing the kitchen sink, but by shutting down the run option and playing tight coverage in the back end.

Forgot to mention GT averaged 467 total yards a game ,# 1 in the run ,ahead of Air Force and Navy. ,149 times last year GT ran for 10 yards or more .

Any suggestions about our game plan .
Two choices. Play fast and try to go score for score with them. Grind out long drives, mostly on the ground with the occasional pass, keep their offense watching the game for long periods of time. I go for the latter.

Make them throw it. They are a 4 down offense . We give them 4 - 5 yards on first down we are in trouble. 3rd and 2 from their 40 and they are going for it. Anything inside our 40 and they are going for it on 4 th down. Make them throw it down the field over play the run and attack the run game to the pass game. This guys will fake the dive and drop back to pass run through the dive right to the QB. All Play action. If he sprints out it can become a problem if we have guys like Rochelle and Trumbetti chasing him. Send Jaylon all day .
