No no no ... we need a proven winner, with long term experience. We’ve already taken several fliers like Davie, freaking Golfingham, Weis and now Kelly. We need a proven long term D1 winner
I would also add Shaw to that list.
I understand what you are saying about a proven winner. However, teams scoop up coaches before they become proven winners. C. Kelly going to UCLA is the exception.
Patterson and Shaw are proven. Fitzgerald at NW does well with less talent than ND has.

With the inability to hire good coaches might as well kept Bob Davie because he was doing the same Kelly has.
Patterson just signed an extension. Why would Franklin leave ? It's a lateral move. Fleck ? Based on what ?
20 years of lack of a major bowl win will make a proven coach question a move, but Kelly did have an undefeated season , and had the Irish in the running for a playoff spot which might intrigue one though
So when did PSU become equal with ND? Fleck will get his players to run through a wall. He can recruit. Look at the talent he brought to WMU.
We took the wrong flyers! Sould have taken Meyer who was on that same staff. Instead we take Davie and Utah signs Meyer. We take Kelly when Gus Malzahn was a great OC at Tulsa, and Bubba Cuningham raved about him. Bubba was their AD at the time who’s AD at North Carolina now and was a ND grad and assistant AD at ND for years.
I never liked Kelly from day one, but I am beginning to think that perhaps no top coach really
Wants to come to ND , and , it seems , Kelly is just good enough to keep the administration
And a good part of the fan base happy ?
People will argue that 9 3 was a rebuilding season and that Kelly has built a solid foundation for
next season and the future ?
If Kelly comes out of the bowl with a win, the Kelly supporters will argue that 10 3 and a bowl win
Is a very good season ?
It will be interesting to hear all the Kelly Supporters from now until our bowl game ?

Fleck has less of a resume than Kelly had when ND hired him. Minnesota players didn't t very good to me yesterday.
Penn St certainly nds equal in college football. To think otherwise is living in the distant past.
how many titles has Shaw won? no better than Kelly. Fitz hates ND and has said so publicly.

You give a guy like Shaw the resources that ND has, you can expect a championship. Frost and Fleck are young passionate coaches. Get them now before someone else scoops them up.

Actually Bob's twin boys are seniors in high school. They have been accepted to Northwestern for next year. Bob has bought a house in the Chicago area for that reason. Highly, highly unlikely he coaches again. He s rejected overtures from ND multiple times in the past to be both an assistant and a head coach. Do not see that changing.
Thanks for the up brother I know ND unofficially spoke to him, I'm not sure if he officially interviewed.

As of right now he is pretty adamant that he will not coach again. What happened to his dad is a huge part of that. You never know though.

They need a 30-30 as to why this University claims to chase championships yet delivers mediocre product? Much like the paint on our helmets, it just takes a little pressure to chip that illustrious gold!

Anyone? Perhaps you'd like Ball States coach? Maybe San Diego State? Maybe we can hire Weis? How about Rich Rod? ND fans have fallen off the deep end. I feel there's no sense in arguing once the train is off the track, its strait to the cuckoo nest.

define "acceptable " ? i would say as fans our only options are to watch the games and root for the team or find another team to follow. all the foot stomping or breath holding here will not change anything. it is a good place for amusement or venting though.
Bob Stoops is a great coach but anyone who would allow Joe Mixon to play for him is out with me.

No reason to defend my argument. Perhaps your in the same boat? Mediocrity unfortunately, has ruined ND football, and their fans along with it!
Again, we re fans. We d all like to win every game 100-0. That's not reality. Pissing and moaning is normal but that's all fans can do. None of us are authorized to make any changes. I guess it's up to each individual to deal with it in their own way. I m looking forward to the next game. Always have. If a coaching change is made I ll still be doing the same thing.
Could care less what we win by? I just want to see the kind of product we saw the first 7 weeks. Unfortunately Kelly will never sustain it. Facts!
No I am not speaking of the blow outs, rather how tough they played.
