Officially Official ND v. Navy Game Thread

I am not certain about this, but a pretty emabarassing performance.

don’t forget the 2nd half collapse against OSU in the bowl game, Marshall and Stanford. Dude’s a complete deer in the headlights.

Well boys progress, we actually beat a bad team.

MF is 1-2 now against really really bad teams.

Someone needs to throw another 100 or 200 grand at Mason. Only guy that coaches em up over and over.

Well…. The positive if you’re Freeman. You can be a prick all week. You won but it was embarrassing.

That was the worst half of offensive football I have ever seen. Ever. That was pathetic. Embarrassing!!! Yeah they won and I’ll take it. But that was pathetic. Delaware held them to 7. I’ve been watching for 50 years. It looked like ND was playing the 1977 Sooners. Just an embarrassing second half by the offense. Even when they win it’s not enjoyable. SMH 🤦‍♂️

Personally I’d like to see this game go on the heap. This is another in the line of blue haired “traditions” like telling people to sit down and golf claps. Or….. you schedule it week 0 every year. So you can sell out in option. Take a bye week 1. So you have two weeks to prepare for your next opponent. Then another bye later in the year.

roll-out anyone? sweep? same play over and over in the 2nd half. yeah, Pyne has to read the blitz and get rid of the ball, but good lord, if you're that predictable, you will fail.

Glad we got the win, but that was an absolutely pathetic display of football in the 2nd half by the Irish. How does your offense do that much worse in the 2nd half?

I wish we would just stop playing Navy. It's a really stupid game to have on the schedule every year. It's a lose lose all around. The game is not fun to watch (i doubt ND is making any real money off of it). If you don't win by 3+ scores your brand takes a hit, players get hurt from constant chop blocks, Navy runs the most gimmicky offense in the world that you only see once a year (completely takes you out of your regular season game prep/routine), etc.

Probably time to retire then. How you can argue against Pyne mistakes/weaknesses are mind boggling. Computer time at the nursing home should be about over
Oh, so now that you were dead wrong about my resume and how pitiful your attempt to impress me with your minuscule by comparison 30 years of watching ND football was, you’re going to try to use my vastly superior intelligence, experience and knowledge of ND football against me. Now that is funny.

Pyne had less than 2 seconds on a number of those blitzes, most of which came from his blind side, so my criticism leans more toward the play calling that didn’t neutralize the blitz’s.

You have to give credit to Navy’s players and coaches.

You can’t ignore ND’s failure to perform, especially when blitzers came in unblocked.

The failure to call plays that neutralized those blitzes is on the coaches.

Blaming Pyne for being sacked within 2 seconds of the snap is …….. a sign of ignorance!.

My concern is that this was Oklahoma State all over again, with the added concern that Navy was not the equal of OS.

The lack of consistency also troubles me.

But, the constant micro bitching on every play from arm chair amateurs is absurd.

Jerks and wanna be’s who never played a down are telling players how to play and telling coaches how to coach.

Leading 35-13 at half and squeaking out a 3 point win is troubling and doesn’t bode well for the USC game in L.A.

I wish I knew the answer.

I would have thought that employing the west coast offense would have countered the constant blitzing in the second half

The wr screen would have worked second half when they were blitzing corners

So we should drop teams that give us a hard time ?

Six other teams had no problem with them.

0 points of offense in the second half. Dont let the door hit you in the ass on the way out Tommy Terdover

You’re right Rockne, you’re more intelligent than anyone on the board. News flash… you’re in the minority when it comes to accepting the poor play of the team/individual players. You should probably just start your own game thread so you can respond to your own posts. You could even like your own comments. It would be a great time for you. Nothing but rainbows and unicorns on your thread. People are allowed to point out when a player is playing like garbage. They should be able to point out weaknesses. All most of us were saying is the truth. Play calls sucked, Pyne held the ball too long on a couple sacks, Pyne is a weakness at QB, Pyne never gets out of a bad play. Cant he Change a route/ call an audible? The fact that you trash anyone that posts something you don’t agree with or can’t see with your rose colored spectacles (that’s what they called them in your day, right?) is a joke.

Yes. It’s the one game every year where my attitude is “just get it over with.” The worst. Hate rooting against Navy. Hate their offense. Hate that ND acts like they’re playing their little brother when they stand around and utilize talent to eek out a win every year. That’s why I said can it or play it week 0. That way it’s done and gone. Ancient obligation fulfilled. And we’d actually be excited since it’s the first game after 7 months. So next year thank GOD ITS 8/26.
