Navy''s coach Niumatalolo very interested...

ND is also sending OL to NFL who are doing well, and there seem to be prospects for more in the Spring. Likewise, Riddick and Prosise are getting time and fair success. Alabama RBs may be underperforming compared to expectations. Even Barrett Jones, the Rimington winner from Alabama, is no longer in the NFL.
They are just sending them to the draft. They may be underperforming now, but they were not at Bama.

We will be navy we won't win more games that we are now. We will not recruit 4 star players. Its a terrible system for under powered teams. If it were that great it would have stayed with most of the programs out there. They left it for a reason. Only teams that can not win want to go to it and fans who see we got beat by a mediocre at best navy team. Yea it kicked our ass however it was a terrible coach who can not stop option football. Good coaches will beat it every time. it sucks. my guess the navy coach is only good because he has systemized it and plays mostly average at best teams or teams with bad coaches like the irish. tom herman if he were a good coach would beat that high school offense every game. That is why I am not impressed with tom herman.
Again...you were born yesterday?

#1 there is one final winner at the end of the year.....
#2 you want to k oh why it was abandoned by son many teams? the same reason every team does...they see a new offense...it becomes trendy...and then they use it.

If someone were to come out with a new type of offense that had a receiver up on the scoreboard...a full back hanging on the goalpost....but it could score some points for some team using it....well you will see people ditch the trendy offense if today and move right along to trying that.

Option football would be very dominant .. if you have an elite coach...at an elite school and can get the top backs,

You'll win a lot of games. ❕

As far as will you get those athletes...possibly. I promise you there are tailbacks who'd love to be used in a conventional manner.

You act like the offense itself is bad....and that shows your selfishness and ignorance.

That Navy coach is extremely handcuffed..no? What could he do without worrying about the kids reaction to their service commitment?

If you're saying Alabama is primarily a running team, that would be incorrect. They run the ball 59.5% of the time. They're pretty balanced.

As for your comment about putting the '88 team against anyone, that was almost 30 years ago and football has changed quite a bit since then. Would you put a Rockne or Leahy-coached team up against anyone today?
Wait right there...see offensive style this, that...blah blah...
You know what that 88 team had that ends the discussion. they had intensity and attitude. They played with a chip on their shoulder. Ferocious on defense, etc etc.

It was very telling yesterday watching all the rivalry games just how piss poor our team is coached.

so being born yesterday i learned that option football works well with ga tech navy air force and army. what level of recruits do they have. any good coach with the iris talent level beat the every day of the wek. i guartee we will not be able to recruit and we will average team long term.

There are a lot of talented high school teams with outstanding linemen that run the option-type of offense (triple option, veer, double wing). Those linemen may not want to go to an academy school and may like the fact that a college besides those runs the option... never know bc nobody but georgia tech runs it other than the academies and who really wants to go to that school. Other than People from the Atlanta area....

Head meet bump. that's your mantra.

If GT put in the trendy spread offense...you think they'd be contenders? wrong. there are 127 D1 losers at the end of the year in case you didn't now that. Most of them run the trendy pretty offense and have what to show for it? NOTHING

As I told you before....aside from Vince young Texas and cam newton auburn...power football wins every time all the time.

Here's a question Mr born yesterday...does urban Meyer run power football or finesse?

I didn't ask his formations...but power or finesse?

In case you didn't know...he runs power football. that's why all his qbs are another tailback and aren't very good passers. he can use the same formation as Brian Kelly but he runs it north and south...we think we'll jet sweep the other team to death and look pretty.

The option could be a great thing here with good material.

yes power is good option is not

That statement right there screams ....exactly. I got nothing.
Thanks for participating.
He said POWER football is good. He agrees with you on that. He feels option football (like the service academies run) is not. There's a difference between the two styles.

thank you 88 seems to lack charm scool education

I am not a fan of option football. i do like power football. the flaws with option football you become single dimensional. and you strike out on all types of recruits because top notch players want to be a pro as a possibility. the odds it wont happen if you are on option team. this opinion includes linemen. the flaw with the spread is the closer you get to the endzone you may not score a TD bbecause you do not run a power blocking sceme i prefer a pro like offense l where you can be flexible

No...I completely understand where and what he's trying to say.

Question...aerial attack football. bill Walsh and Don coryale offense we're different. correctl?yes they were in case you didn't know.

Whether you're running a power I, with ONE extra back...fullback, and a tailback or you're running an option with most times all FOUR backs are involved...make no mistake it's power football.

Thx

I disagree. Having all four backs involved is a finesse running game predicated on motion, confusion, and deception. That's what the service academies do. They don't run over you like Alabama and Ohio State, especially due to their lack of size. There is a clear difference.

Nobody here suggested they become extreme one dimensional...however...
Tony Rice did a tremendous job, no?
Tommy Frazier could play on my team any day.

I echo again.

Every year there are 127 losers and ONE winner. Most of those losers are using trendy football .. and losing. entertaining? OK...successful? no.

Do we know how option football here would work present day? No.
However the last time option was in South bend it was very successful.

Really? check this out...the service academies you damn we'll better believe they try and run you over. yes they use misdirection and it works...
The difference being Alabama has 300# lineman moving bodies. the academies ate lighter but make no mistake they are trying like hell to move the mountain.
The fullbacks from both teams are hitting hard ...they HAVE to....

that is what Navy does essentially extreme one way. i think the option is a gimmick offense and if you want to say the spread especially up tempo I would say that is a gimmick also. one tries to out score you and the other just slows you down. Alabama uses a lane Kiffin offense which is pro style spread. they use power runs with the traditional stretch run. Alabama and Ohio State are the gold standard and both run a form of the spread along with tough D.

I would be on board for him if he brought in a OC that ran a pro style not option offense. I think he gets more out of less and his teams seem always prepared. Right now anything is better than what we have.
So you want to bring in a triple option coach.

So you want a triple option coach, but only if he doesn't run a triple option?

When it's working, the option is a thing of beauty. How could anyone not appreciate it?

Lane kiffin started running an offense after studying countless hours of urban Meyer tape.
If there is one guy that has sabans number is Urban Meyer.

I guarantee you Nick saban said study urban Meyer offense and call accordingly.

BTW, the ONLY thing spread about Bama and OSU is formation. when the ball is snapped it is north and south ONLY. Both squads use two tailbacks....one of the tailbacks just throws a little better than the other so he takes the snaps. Either of those QBs will NOT be taking snaps on Sunday. They might play Sunday just not under center. But they sure are making it work in college.

I don't care how we run power football...just know we need to run it.

Power football is and always will be king. if we do it via option or power I ...makes no matter to me but it must be done. moreover....there is a benefit from it that always goes under the radar.

OSU and Bama running the ball always gives their defense a rest. And while no team present day holds opponents to shutouts...that extra rest helps.

^ Not only a rest, but allows the defense staff time to make necessary adjustments.
