Vols have a higher ranked QB from SoCal. Minchey looks great though, big pick up.This is an important pick up. I really like his film. Hard to believe the Vols didn't go after him harder. Very clean fundamentals and a nice throwing motion. Really good arm strength. He is more of a pocket passer than a runner, but he looks like he can pick up an occasional first down with his legs. He has a really solid lower body. Hopefully he has a high football IQ, but I guess we will see.
Listen to John Garcia on today's IB podcast. SI has him as a top 5 QB in the class. He outperformed all of the big names at the Elite 11.Rivals really missing the boat on his ranking! Haven't they watched M's film! 3*!!!! Oh, well -- Rivals had Joe Burrow as a 3* too and that worked out pretty well. Read an article from a QB coach who has worked with him and he made this comparison:
"In my opinion, he's kind of a Joe Burrow type of guy. Everything is smooth and easy. He never looks rattled. Like Burrow, he could have eight guys around him in the pocket and he looks like he's at a tea party. He's just chillin' in the pocket and that is how Kenny is. He's just calm in the midst of chaos no matter who is around him, what the score is and what's going on around him in the drive. He's just smooth, steady and poised."
Agreed, watch his film, the guy drops dimes all over the field. Not a cannon but inside 50 yards, he has pinpoint accuracy, I've never seen from a HS player. He a feel for the pocket and touch. Mayer would have four more TDs this year if Minch was throwing to him!Listen to John Garcia on today's IB podcast. SI has him as a top 5 QB in the class. Also, for perspective SI99 has Minchey above Arnold. Both as top100 prospects. Minchey at #80 overall player.
Good job…great job by Rees to get a QB of this quality this late.Good job Tommy
Agreed Stu, his accuracy is absolutely elite.Agreed, watch his film, the guy drops dimes all over the field. Has a weird motion, like he is throwing darts -- but it works, don't you think Telx?Agreed Stu, his accuracy is absolutely elite.
they did want him, but they got Nico. I think Kenny was more of an insurance plan for them. This is an important pick up. I really like his film. Hard to believe the Vols didn't go after him harder. grapes are sometimes sour.Pitt board saying he was afraid to compete
Yes, but effortlessly.Has a weird motion, like he is throwing darts -- but it works, don't you think Telx?
Where have we heard that before?Pitt board saying he was afraid to compete
Watching his film, he throws with ease, hits his receivers in stride and as you said, can run when needed. Very encouraging. This is an important pick up. I really like his film. The in stride is what I noticed. I know its highlights but honestly I am tired of QB's not being able to hit the receiver in stride. Delivery is a little odd / does not look like he is gunning it but the balls just drop in on a dime.Watching his film, he throws with ease, hits his receivers in stride and as you said, can run when needed. was actually being sarcastic; remember we had a guy here who would always say that if a kid left and went elsewhere. His ID began with a P. Old timers will get it.Where have we heard that before?
doesn't bother me - I like the quick release. much rather have that than a Tebow wind-up... he seems to generate power with his legs and torso as well - not all arm... nice touch on the deep ball that way.Yes, but effortlessly.
No, I totally got it.was actually being sarcastic; remember we had a guy here who would always say that if a kid left and went elsewhere. His ID began with a P. Old timers will get it.
I agree. He measured 6’2.5 and 215 during his visit. Kid has a strong lower body, and that will only get stronger. He already throws with good velocity and distance, but expect we’ll see improvement in both as Balis works to strengthen his lower body.doesn't bother me - I like the quick release. much rather have that than a Tebow wind-up... he seems to generate power with his legs and torso as well - not all arm... nice touch on the deep ball that way.
ND Head Coach Mike Sanford is ecstatic!Pitt board saying he was afraid to compete
That kid tried to commit and transfer to every D1 program in CF. Think he ended up 3rd or 4th string at his last stop. 🤣was actually being sarcastic; remember we had a guy here who would always say that if a kid left and went elsewhere. His ID began with a P. Old timers will get it.
His tape is damn near perfect for a HS QB. Nothing to critique much and that seems to be what most analysts think including Garcia. He does everything well. That’s all based on his junior film. Pair that with his Elite 11 performance and I actually don’t know how he’s not a consensus 5 star QB. Rivals literally must not analyze QBs. This kid was a miss and flew under the radar all recruiting cycle bc he shut everyone down besides Pitt.I agree. He measured 6’2.5 and 215 during his visit. It's still going to be up to Rees to develop him and get the most out of him. That's what concerns me, and why I'm not completely hyped about this commitment. His tape is damn near perfect for a HS QB. I truly have never understood this critique of Rees. He has a 5’9 QB with a similar completion % to Bryce Young. While Pyne is horribly undersized an out of his league, he’s far exceeding his ceiling imo. Same with Book. Book had no business making it to the league. He was a table scrap 3 star nobody that became the record holder at ND. Buchner played 2 games. Rees has done more for QB development than just about anyone in the country bc he has won with scrubs. It's still going to be up to Rees to develop him and get the most out of him. Why do you care what anyone else thinks? Can we all stop getting carried away here with a garden variety composite mid-4 star recruit?
