Michigan currently has eight 3 star recruits...

The 24-17-1 is a joke if you actually know a thing about anything. Lol. Nine straight wins in scrimmages in the 1880's & 1890's? Awesome.

Here are facts as written in the book Natural Enemies, which was signed off on by both ND & UM coaches & ADs.

Michigan started a football program a decade before ND. In 1887 ND students agreed to play scrimmages against Michigan's football team to learn the game.
They actually played a half a game, then had lunch, then played another game in the afternoon one year. Another year they played a half, stopped the game so UM could get on a train. Michigan & ND viewed all these games as practice. Then in 1909 Michigan decides these are real games & counts them after canceling all future games with ND.

So Michigan football won 9 straight scrimmages agsinst ND students learning the game.

Michigan doesn't count the losses to Great Lakes from 1910s & 20s though? So Michigan basically chose which games were real & which were exhibition to benefit themselves.
In the modern football era ND leads the series 16-14-1.

But hey, maybe UM should have its football team play ND professors to pad that number?

Once again. Let me know when (if) UM wins the Big10 east. Or schedules someone on your OCC? Lol

Hawaii home
Colorado home
UCF home

You leave the state of Michigan ONCE in the first 9 weeks (at Rutgers ooohhh, scary).

Have fun on the BTN regional broadcast. Lol

There's a reason everybody worldwide discusses ND football (love or hate) & nobody cares outside the Great Lakes region about UM. You can be mad all you want, but you know it's true. Be bitter. I can walk into any bar in the country & get a reaction from ND football. Did it for a decade in the AF. Nobody in the south, the west coast, southwest, the east coast, cares about UM. They all know ND.

ND football
Duke basketball
Yankees

Everybody talks them. Always important. Don't need shirtless sleepovers to get people talking.

The funny thing is, what is the difference between Duke basketball, Yankee baseball and ND football?? ND is the only one that hasn't won, or come close for that matter, to winning a title in recent memory (or decades in ND's case).

I think ND should focus on trying to beat northwestern before they think they can compete for anything greater.

Really? ND was in the NC game in 2012. When was the last time Michigan played for a NC? For that matter, when do you think Michigan might play in a Big 10 CCG? Dolt.

ND football...a nobody for 30 years and running. Return to glory part...25?? Kelly has accomplished exactly what since he has been at ND?

Better yet...38-0 x 2, 47-2, 24-17-1...OUCH!!!!

ND is good at getting bent over backwards in their bowl games. What is the biggest bowl game Kelly has won at ND?? How did he fare in his biggest bowl games again? What was the average margin of defeat??

Yup. Enough said.

Oh, and I see Michigan is now kicking ND's a$$ in recruiting...again!

Man, that 31-0 beatdown must still be eating at your craw. There are meds for that, you know.

A little perspective:

When um won 1/2 of the 1997 NC, it had been 49 years since their last one.
When tennessee won the NC in 1998, it had been 47 years since their last one.
When osu won the NC in 2002, it had been 34 years since their last one.
When southern cal won 1/2 of the 2003 NC, it had been 25 years since their last one (1978, also split)
When LSU won 1/2 of the 2003 NC, it had been 45 years since their last one.
When Texas won the NC in 2005, it had been 36 years since their last one.

PS Yankees 62-77 78-96.

Lastly, the institution now known as Duke University was founded in Randolph County, NC, in 1838, as Brown’s Schoolhouse. By 1859, it had been renamed Trinity College. Trinity College moved to Durham and what is now East Campus in 1892.

In 1924, James B. Duke founded Duke University, named for his family. Trinity College became the undergraduate college for men. In 1930, the Woman’s College for undergraduate women opened on East Campus; Trinity College moved to the new West Campus. In 1972, Trinity College and the Woman’s College merged into the coeducational Trinity College of Arts & Sciences.

They did not win their first NCAA basketball championship until 1991.

ND up to ninth overall. Still a long way until February.

http://247sports.com/Season/2017-Football/CompositeTeamRankings

In recent years, ND has landed its highest rated recruits early, and then it's a slow decline until NSD, and then a drop to somewhere between 10th-15th overall in terms of their final recruiting ranking.

Kelly is excellent at developing the talent he has, but being a fringe playoff contender and getting blown out to powerhouse programs in the playoffs and/or big bowl games should not be acceptable at ND

Until ND can compete for top 5 recruiting classes--on both sides of the ball mind you--I don't see that outlook changing anytime soon though.

Pro Football Focus weighs in on ND:

"Ultimately, the fate of Notre Dame’s season will rest in the hands of the defense. They will yet again have one of the best offensive lines in the country along with a quarterback that could legitimately end up in the Heisman race no matter who wins the competition. On the other side of the ball, there are so many unknown quantities heading into the season that they’ll need to see some serious development from young guys to expect to compete for a national championship. In the end, the best thing the Irish might have going for them is their schedule."

That's not really very accurate, as ND has landed many of it's highly regarded recruits later in the process
(following the start of prospects senior football season)

ND needs to continue to recruit better, but ND had/has the talent to compete with and beat basically every team in CFB last year with the exception of Ohio State and Alabama
(if those teams were really clicking)

ND has the talent to play with and potentially beat pretty much every single team in CFB again this year, and with the way the roster is developing, that should continue to be the case moving forward

Yep, lots of knowns on defense, but a lot of potential as well

If the individuals on the defense are able to step up, that will go a long way. But much more crucial will be the defense as a whole gelling and finally being able to run the scheme
(which we can only hope will be simplified significantly)

In a "rebuilding year" we should still have a good chance to win 10+ games and have a shot at the playoff

The roster has developed to the level that it needs to, as a "base line", but now we need a few key improvements to take the next step from playing "Very Good CFB" to playing "Elite CFB"

One guy took Cincinnati to 12-0 & one second (Texas/Neb Big 12 Title game) from the BCS Title Game. Cincy-effing-nati!
The other couldn't even make it with Andrew Luck, Richard Sherman, Zach Ertz, Coby Fleener, etc...

hmmmmm

Nice move by booger Harbaugh beating up on power house Rutgers. Classy!

Did you watch the game? The entire 2nd half was practically runs up the middle...and they still scored. BK is still trying to understand the concept of "run up the middle".

He is a low life. No class and booger eater.
He is the perfect fit for Michigan.

There is a lot of fail in this thread...

That'll teach Rutgers to tell Harbaugh that "they own New Jersey recruiting".
Holy God that was a pummeling.
PS Rutgers would give Porky a game.....

Michigan cupcaked out their schedule (seriously, look at it) so will always win 10 games, but will never make even the Big10 title game because of OSU. (& MSU)
That's what's so funny. Michigan has yet to even play in the Big10 title game & never will under Harbaugh as long as Urban keeps bending them over. How funny is it that Harbaugh might be 0-4 versus OSU & MSU after this year?

Also, didn't Harbaugh get fired from his last job?

Guess we need to add Duke and NC State to our schedules

More than hilarious that no matter what, Kelly has still led ND to two BCS games (including title game). Michigan can't sniff a BCS game, let alone the playoff, if they can't even make a Big10 title game. Which they won't. Lol
So Kelly could go 0-20 in BCS games, but that is 20 more than UM will ever get in.

If you don't win the east, which you like to finish 3rd in, you can't play in a major bowl! That is a fact! And no matter how mad you get, you know you can't win the east! Sniffle, sniffle.
That is called getting BENT OVER!!!
You might want to start getting your retractions ready, this season has made this thread a really bad look for you and your ability to judge coaches and programs. Harbaugh has Michigan on a collision course with OSU for the playoffs, while Kelly is dying a slow death in South Bend and bringing ND's program along with him.

You embarrass yourself every time you post here. You come here with weak sauce. Yeah, ND lost to Ohio St.in the Fiesta Bowl last year. But the same OSU team kicked Michigan's ass 42-13. Your post is about as lame as one can imagine. Obsess over ND much? You are an imbecile.
Yeah, and ND fans tout an Appalation State win over a Michigan team that beat ND 38-0 that same year, yet I never see you show up in those threads to deride them of their obsession and call them imbeciles, why is that?

You are a Michigan fan on an ND board. And you are calling other posters obsessed?

On an ND board in a thread discussing Michigan, who's obsessed again?

See, I personally think it's perfectly fine for rivals to discuss their rivals(even when some don't want to admit they are actually rivals), and I even think it's fine for rival fans to be curious what fans of their rivals are talking about. But not you, you've made it clear that you think that Michigan fans that come to this board to discuss ND, or even Michigan, are obsessed imbeciles, but then what do you think of the ND fans that bring up Michigan unsolicated on and ND board? I'm just curious to see if there's any consistency, or if you're just a big fat hypocrite.

PS, it's really not that hard to find message boards of other teams, it's literally just a click away, I'm not sure that qualifies as obsession.

You do realize that the Wolvie board don't haul out the welcome wagon for Irish posters either?

I wouldn't know. Unlike some Michigan posters who are always here, I don't go over to the Michigan board.

Several years back the Michigan board was full of clever off-topic posts and it was easy to post among the Wolvies if you minded your manners. Those days are long gone and I rarely visit their board anymore, though I do continue to play Blue_Note's Upset Special by email.

I haven't visited the free board on the Wolverine in a long time because they got ban happy and got rid of all the rival posters(on both the football and bball boards, they both suck), I thought it was stupid then, and the proof is in the pudding that it's become a wasteland with very little if any intersting converstations(unless things have changed in the last year or so, like I said, I don't visit it). I don't see what that has to do with what we're discussing here.

He and decker (bizzybeck) lost their minds on the TX board. Decker got tossed from there and NDA survived by telling the TX faithful personal war tales from Afghanistan..... I'm pretty sure at some point while there that he did a HALO. I'm guessing that during the drop he realized he had forgotten his parachute and knew the only way he could survive the fall was to land on his head. It was beyond unbelievable. They then both returned here and continued the lunacy...wagering $10K, both scared shi**less of actually having to "duke" it out.....invitations to UFC gyms for the throw down.... I almost pee'd my pants.

It was one of the all time great sweater fights..... Edge to NDA because the whole TX board unanimously ousted Decker for being a total imbecile. It was frightening in a funny way....

I'm guessing NDA has placed himself somewhere in isolation. He had to realize that he had totally lost his noggin'... and needed serious medication to regroup... I hope he comes back... he's a good guy...bizzybeck not so much...
