Same team last year's national champs lost to. Hmmm?Either in shock or overrated losing to a 4-7 team. Clemson / Miami ACC championship if Clemson wins they are in .not so sure about Miami with that very bad loss to Pitt.

Last year's Pitt team won 8 games. This year's isn't bowl eligible.Same team last year's national champs lost to. Hmmm?
In that scenario neither of the teams are probably getting inMiami blew their load beating the Irish - now back to reality.
A two-loss ND will get in over a two-loss Miami - back to back losses for Miami cannot bode well for the CFB committee.
If ND beats Stanford handily then they may not make the playoffs but will remain on the fringe. ND just has to take care of their business and let the cards fall as they may.
Yes. A two loss ND should be in instead of a two loss SC because of the head to head. Just as a two loss Miami should go ahead of a two loss ND because of the head to head. This is especially true because Miami's record would be 11-2 rather than 10-2. There is zero chance of ND going in instead of Miami.what would your reaction to USC in the playoff ahead of ND?
See the point?
Yep, I realized it as I wrote it. UM would've had to go undefeated for ND to get in.In that scenario neither of the teams are probably getting in
No. Too weak of a schedule. If UCF goes undefeated, they should be in the discussion.
Not sure if serious. Is tOSU beats Whisky they will go. One spot Big Big. Winner of Clemson Miami goes. Second Sport ACC. Alabama win, one spots SEC (maybe two.) You also have Oklahoma out there and TCU who, if they beat Oklahoma will pass ND. There may be a path out there but this isn't it.ND’s schedule will be a big factor. 5 or 6 power 5 ranked wins. One bad loss. One draw. I’m not sure we get in or even should but here is the scenario.
1. Miami loss. Check
2. Clemson loss to S Carl
3. Clemson beats Miami
4. WV beats ok
5. Alabama beats auburn and drubs GA
6. OSU beats Wisc
ND to 4th with a Stanford win.

ND's chances at the playoffs will either be dead or alive after the noon games tomorrow. They need both Ohio State and Georgia to lose and that isn't happening. But if it did then ND would be alive because that could potentially give Georgia 3 losses if they lose to Bama in the SEC title game(would need to be Bama because ND would not get in over a 1 loss Bama team), and Ohio State would be out of the picture with 3 losses.
To me the Miami-Clemson game would have to be won by Miami because I think ND's resume would be better than Clemson's. We would then need Ohio State to turn around with 3 losses and roll Wisconsin in the Big 10 title game.
There is no way ND should or would get in over either Miami or Georgia if they both have the same amount of losses. But if the above happened to me it would be.
1 Bama 2 Oklahoma 3 Miami 4 ND
Here is how the path would be cleared with where the teams rank now.
1 Bama-Win out and knock off Auburn to get them out of the way.
2 Miami-Beat Clemson next week to get in the top 4 and give the committee a decision of Clemson vs ND for the 4th spot which I think ND would win based on this years resume.
3 Clemson-Lose to Miami in the ACC title game. Need this because ND isn't getting in ahead of Miami if both have two losses nor should they.
4 Oklahoma-Them losing to either WVU or TCU would help and potentially open up a spot.
5 Wisconsin-Lose bad to 3 loss Ohio State
6 Auburn-Lose to Bama tomorrow
7 Georgia-Lose to GT then Bama in the title game. Again a must because ND shouldn't get in ahead of a 2 loss Georgia team because of the head to head.
8 ND- Win big tomorrow night
9-Ohio State- Lose tomorrow vs Michigan and then beat Wisconsin handily.
Quite sure all this talk will be done tomorrow at 330 but till then we can hope. haha
Honestly speaking, if bama losses to Auburn (which they could), Bama should be out. They have zero resume to support their current ranking. ( Based on this season)
Bama wins
ND will not have 5 or 6 wins over ranked teams. Also stop calling the georgia game a draw... it just looks dumb

I agree. Their SOS is borderline pathetic for a #1 ranked team. But college ball is all about politics.Honestly speaking, if bama losses to Auburn (which they could), Bama should be out. They have zero resume to support their current ranking. ( Based on this season)
This isn’t 1985 anymore—to the committee, that gsme is closer to a draw than a clear cut loss for ND. Things aren’t as back and white as they used to be. If they were, Wisconsin and UCF would be higher up the rankings.
ND is ranked ninth with no championship game. Not happening.
Great. We know there’s very little chance. Thank you for telling us this on an ND board. Don’t you have things to discuss on the USC board?
As much as I love what ND has done this season especially if they finish with a victory at Stanford the Miami game was a chance to solidify our playoff position and we failed. Even if by some miracle we got back to number 4 I can't honestly believe we deserve it after losing by 33.Sorry guys but 11-2 beats 10-2
Dude 2 - 9 should have nothing to do with what I said. I said this year. It’s about this year, and Bama’s resume, this year, is weak at best. That’s just a fact. Our resume, based on our schedule, this year, is hands down better than most of teams in the top 10. If I’m voting, that is a significant data point. And the committee must agree, since they rank and undefeated Wisconsin team currently out of the CFP.So are you saying a 2 loss ND team that lost it’s only 2 games against higher ranked teams should be preferred over 1 loss Bama team that loses to a team that soundly beat a team that beat ND.
As to Bama’s resume, you’re kidding? Alabama is not the team whose record is 2-9 against ranked teams.
Alabama has won a few big games to earn a bit of credibility with the committee.
Do you think the Committe wants to risk bypassing Ala. for ND only to have ND lay an egg in the playoffs?
That will be something they consider.
ND needs to get an NY6 bowl win and then next season you can hope for such consideration.
A two loss OSU, with one decisive loss at home and one blowout loss to an unranked team on the road, does not belong in the playoffs. Not sure if serious. Is tOSU beats Whisky they will go. THIS^^^A two loss OSU, with one decisive loss at home and one blowout loss to an unranked team on the road, does not belong in the playoffs.
Miami schedule was trash. 4 road games all year and every one of those games vs a team with a losing record. ND should definitely go ahead of a 2 loss Miami. Strength of Schedule. Playing trash all year and getting juiced for 1 game is Boise Stateish. Should not be rewarded And ND should go in before USC on account of the fact ND mopped the floor with them and would do so again...USC is just overhyped and overrated...so is that one read and happy feet QB.
Can we just enjoy tonight's game? I'm pretty sure none of have a vote in the playoffs anyway. Go Irish!!!!It seems some do. You are welcome. I can multitask.

You are leaving out a win over the fifth ranked undefeated team in Whisky is they go that far. If not Whisky is in.
Miami would be 10-2. They missed a gameYes. A two loss ND should be in instead of a two loss SC because of the head to head. ND would have to find one of the other spots open. Since everyone in the top twelve except ND will play an extra game against a ranked opponent, there is no scenario I can see that will get ND in. But maybe someone could come up with one for me.
If ND beats Stanford it will be their fourth loss. Hardly a big wow for the committee.
Because of the championship effect an ND team with more than one will never get in IMO.
