I like JS but he is out of his depth against teams like USC, Clemson, etc.. even against Navy he was getting blown up, and often. Folks here talking about practice haven't played I assume or coached. I played and coached until 2014, and you have practice warriors, guys who seem to be unstoppable during the week but put them in a live game and they just don't perform. Then you have others who don't always practice well but are gamers in live play. I remember Lou saying Reggie Brooks couldn't make a block in practice or hit the right hole but once the game began he turned his brain on.
With the way JS is playing there is no reason not to give NM some more live reps. He is bigger, stronger and faster. Just like Farley, guy has a knack to make some special plays but turns around and whiffs on a tackle, give up a long pass. I'm sorry, but Max should start every game. Yes, Max is hyper aggressive and can draw flags for hits, but he is a much better athlete, hands down. I'm tired of media members having to ask BK why he is in the doghouse yet they never ask him about JS, Farley, JO, or even kevari. Kevari has played below what we expected, lots of penalties, though he had some nice plays last night.
I think it's clear the Offensive has talent at all levels and very good depth, the Defense is not on the same level, nor do they have nearly as much talent on the field. The defensive recruiting really needs to improve.
