saw this coming with them having a awful year while having one of the top rated QBs healthy all year. wonder if former Oregon ducks coach chip Kelly jumps on this

Another coach that may be out is Kevin Sumlin at Texas A&M. When was the last time we saw this type of HC positions open?

Florida
Tennessee
UCLA
Arkansas
Texas A&M

The impact on recruiting will be interesting to watch.

I don’t really believe he will do it, but if Gruden takes the TN job, I wonder what kind of recruiter he will be? He has the pro resume, name recognition, and has stayed connected with the top college players (at least QB’s) with his show.

CK was said UF bound. UCLA may do to UF what UF did to ND (Meyer).

What did UF do to ND regarding Meyer? If anything, ND tried to wrestle him away from Florida at the 11th hour. I think he (or his agent) used the desperate interest of ND to get an even better deal than the one he was close to signing.

And who is the one hot name that gets all those ADs tingly inside? Scott Frost? Kiff? Don't laugh. I think Tenn fans would want him back or has that ship sailed? Would you throw a ton of money at Bill O'Brien to see if there is any interest at returning to the college game? Gruden has no interest. IMHO, pound for pound, one of the best unheralded HCs out there is Ken Niumatalolo but fans and ADs won't put up with that "easy" to defend option that he uses. Anyone else out there? Tee Martin?

USC fans are busy writing letters of recommendation for Tee Martin.

Wow, there is a real empty cupboard when it comes to coaching talent. Fleck needs a couple years, I think Herman will be successful, maybe Frost (don't know enough about him). Only 3-4 elite coaches right now in all of college football.

Would UCLA try and pluck Kelly from ND? I think Kelly wants to coach a little bit longer, just not at ND. The NFL is out the window at this point.

A job like UCLA would set him and his family up in a major metropolitan area like he has always wanted. Plus, it’s a great sunset/retirement job. UCLA is happy with 8-4.

Does anyone else think UCLA made a bad move? Mora had success at UCLA. His last couple of years weren't great, but most coaches will have the occasional down year. I'm sure he would have brought back some of the earlier success.

A lot of people at Memphis think Mike Norvell may be headed to AR. As for Kelly at UCLA, if he doesn't beat USC 50% of the time he won't see many Good Vibrations.

BK would be a great fit at UCLA.

when has coach Kelly come out and said that he doesn't want to be at nd anymore. haven't heard anything from pete Sampson or any other irish writer covering irish sports on this. I know some of you want coach Kelly gone but who are you going to get that is better. meyer isn't leaving the buckeyes and nick sabin, dabo aren't leaving bama or Clemson. we don't want harbaugh who can't beat any of his top rivals while at Michigan right now

UNC?

Back in 2009 it seemed as though every major program was changing coaches. Some held on for another year knowing a change was happening.

Not a lot of "hot" names, yet people are pushing (hoping) Kelly leaves here? Interesting

just heard on espnu radio that a long time florida gator beat writer is tweeting that gator officials are meeting with chip Kelly up in the north eastern part of the states with contract in hand trying to get him to become the new coach

How about Charlie Strong at USF? Had a good run at Louisville but got a raw deal at Texas

I’m surprised that they didn’t spend to get a great D-Line coach or coordinator. Mora deserved one more year. They’re likely to go to a bowl game this season.

I’ll take my chances with someone else. Who cares about a coach who can’t win a big game 92.7% of the time?

I never said Kelly said he doesn’t want to be there. He looks as if he’s along for the ride and not really into “it” watching the games. This job will beat a coach up.

Why do some on here think he’s going to coach here 20 years?

There are plenty of hot names:
Campbell
Norvell
Mullen
Chip Kelly
Frost
Taggert
etc.

I know Kelly isn’t getting fired. It’s my belief he’s wanted out for two years. He tried to interview for the USC job in 2015.

Tommy

What raw deal did Strong get at Texas ?

Look at the record----in Year 3 you can't be losing to Kansas-----in tackle football.

UCLA couldn't afford BKs expense account.
Plus he is an East coast guy raising a family in the Midwest. No way in hell he would move his family to Socal. Funny stuff.

frost is the only "hot" name on that list.

Strong got a raw deal at UT because Mack left that program decimated. He had such a terrible year 3 because of how bad that program was. Strong was also having big donors undermine him from Day 1 at UT b/c they were mad Strong was hired. I am hearing in Texas that Sumlin is going to say dueces to A&M call it mutual and take the swag-copter to A&M. He has a better SEC record then Mullen and has beaten Bama. He can recruit well just not a November coach in the SEC.

Uh.......come again??

Someone asked how Charlie Strong got a raw deal. Living in Austin/San Antonio during the Strong tenure I watched that shit first hand.

UCLA went after Chip which caused him to put an almost done deal with UF on hold. The big donor at UCLA is a guy named Wasserman who is buddies with Chip's agent who works out of Laguna Hills (hence the laugh at reports he was, "flying in" to meet with UCLA. The Bruins have a ton of Armor All money but IMO UF still gets him.

Chip is a fine coach but would rather the Bruins have him then a guy like Frost. A lot of Chip's success was based on coming up with a new system that everyone is familiar with now. Didn't make a difference with the Eagles for example.

I rarely have inside info but I did coach Boras's kids a while back (one actually pitched left handed and played short stop right handed) so if I run into him I may get info on on coaching jobs which I will share here. I am not close enough to him to call. He just knows me from coaching the boys.

Kelly’s laid back beach boy demeanor should work well in L.A.
Wow. The perception of Kelly sure has changed hasn't it? When he first arrived at ND, he got roasted for his sideline moments of rage. I saw him at spring practices during a UC camp where he absolutely lit into some assistant coaches in the middle of practice. And now he has a beach boy demeanor! I for one, think there's a happy medium. It's just funny to see the dichotomy of the observer perception of Kelly from the beginning of his ND tenure until now.

Absolutely no excuse for having 3 straight losing seasons. He wasn't up to the job. Texas coaches don't have to leave the state for top talent.

When you are starting off 15+ scholarships below 85 and have no D1 qb on the roster its hard. Not many understand how truly bad that roster was when Mack left

Arkansas Now on the board. TAMU will fire Sumlin today. A lot of job opportunities.
I wonder if the A.D.’s ask themselves, “who you going to get?”

A lot of coach poaching is going to happen. The ‘18 season is going to have new faces seemingly everywhere.
