Indiana

Let’s not disparage folks from Calif. We’ve decided to move back to Calif from Henderson, NV…which we absolutely love. But we have one son, who is single and physically disabled with CP, and we just feel the desire to be closer to him. Unfortunately, he lives in Calif with a good job. Hate the thought of moving back to a one party State with high taxes and incredibly stupid public policy on numerous fronts…and Northern Calif at that. Maybe we are nuts!
Nope, you aren't nuts. Not close. Absolutely doing the right thing.

I haven't watched any of their games, so I don't know how they're doing it. They brought in a bunch of transfers from mid-major programs, and are somehow running roughshod over the Big Ten. Cignetti's definitely a leading contender for Coach of the Year.
I seen IU’s first game in person (my kids played at halftime) and watched multiple other games on tv. Indiana is an exciting team to watch - they are #2 in country for scoring (46.6/gm) and #8 in country for pts against (13.7/gm). In comparative games - ohio st almost lost to nebraska at home, IU beat them 56-7. Mich only beat Michigan St by 7, IU won 47-10. Michigan should have much better talent by average than IU, so next week should tell alot on how they will hold up in a full game against better talent. A win next week, would mean IU beats both teams from last year’s championship game.

Rourke (IU QB) is awesome. If ND had him, they would be unstoppable on offense - and i would even go as far as saying very probable championship year considering how good Nd defense is. . He missed washington game due to thumb surgery, and played well against mich state, 1 week after surgery.

Time and access to those you love the most is priceless and irreplaceable. Everything else has a price tag, but doesn't hold the same value....and it isn't even close. Totally respect and appreciate your decision. Enjoy your family while you are together.

BTW: the CA time zone is great for college football. Get to watch early. Not stay up too late. Got Stanford and Cal nearby. ND comes in at least every 2 years.
Truth is, there just isn't much interest in college football west of the Pecos. That's why the Pac-12 Network floundered, it could not get into the Comcast basic bundle.

I was in the Army in California in 1974. Army played at Cal and all active duty soldiers in the area got free tickets. My wife and I went to the game. Stadium was about 30% filled. Many of the fans who did show up brought boom boxes to listen to music during the game. Many stretched out on the bleachers on towels to sunbathe. They just ain't into college football.

Rourke's a 6th-year senior who transferred from Ohio U. And they have a whole bunch of players who came over from James Madison with Cignetti (leading receiver, leading tackler, leading sacker, etc). So he's doing this with guys who weren't former blue-chip recruits. So it'll be interesting to see how they fare against a Michigan team that has a clear talent advantage across the board, on paper.

Maybe. Have they not played any other teams with clear talent advantages? Pretty much every opponent would qualify, if a good portion of their own key players are from the 1-AA ranks. I would guess they're going to roll Michigan, or at least win. Given how beatable Michigan looks. Oregon handled them with ease. IU's looked even better than Oregon this year.

Yeah, some of those other Big Ten teams should've had talent advantages, too. But Michigan is the most talented they'll have played yet, and still has a pretty good defense. But their offense is terrible. So I think IU will win, but it'll be a relatively close game.

I hope not, I hope IU wins. They obviously have something special going this year. And Michigan is just nothing, falling really hard back to earth with JH gone. But they can still put up a fight. But I don't want them spoiling dream IU's dream season. Because this is it for IU, they win this and they're in. Doesn't matter about tOSU. Obviously they'll beat Purdue.

But they keep crushing teams. They blew out MSU and Nebraska.

It'll be interesting to see if they can play with Ohio State next week.
This makes them at least legit. The next three weeks will determine if they are really good.

Not me. I'm rooting for Michigan. IU's now competing with us for playoff positioning. So it's better for us if they lose.

Don't be like that. Let yourself have some fun, this isn't warfare. Lives aren't at stake. We don't need to see any possible threat to our even slightest advantage wiped out. Besides, we could easily end up hosting IU in the first round. Or maybe they host us if they go 11-1, which they probably will. I guess that's what you're afraid of.

Well I think they're a great cinderella story, I'm definitely pulling for them.

It was a nice, feel-good story until they passed us in the polls. Now I want them to lose. Sorry, have to draw the line somewhere.

IMO Penn State has no chance at 10-2 . The schedule way too soft. If Bama finishes 10-2 I like their chances. There isn't any comparison on the schedules.
Alabama is in at 10-2, IMO.

Alabama-LSU this Saturday night.

That has to be an elimination game. I don't see any 3-loss teams getting in, except maybe Georgia. Their schedule's very tough.

I think Penn State gets in at 10-2. They will have played 10 Power 4 teams. No big wins but a close loss to one or two loss and potential Big 10 champ Ohio State.

Agree with Bama at 10-2. Even 10-3 they probably get in.

CA is just like most places, varied in socioeconomics and culture. College football popularity ebbs with the fortunes of teams like USC, UCLA, Stanford, even Fresno State. HS football is extremely popular.

For me, the Pac died because of inept and selfish leadership. Unbelievable given the capital and intellectual resources. Unlike Silicon Valley, clowns lead the Pac.

I have some hope for the future for the Pac. USC, Oregon, Washington, UCLA, Oregon State, Arizona, Utah...still a good set of teams. Maybe they can rework things, even a Big West division where they don't have to travel so much?

The potential is still there.

Kudos to Indiana. They're doing a great job. You never know what teams on a schedule will have a surprisingly good or bad season. Look at this week, ND - FSU more fitting for a 12pm kickoff then prime time. Who knew ?

I think the Big Ten's going to get four teams. Unless Penn St. or tOSU lose again, and even then they still might at 10-2. I don't think IU or Oregon are going to lose twice. The SEC has many critical games and head to head matchups left to decide their fate. But you're right it will probably be three teams.
It’s looking for and more like that. But I think at some point if the committee puts 4 SEC and 4 B10 then there is going to be backlash.
