I am not trolling pal. We should be alot better at basketball and a national power, with our recruiting abilites.
Dont be threatening me with MB detectives and good squads. I will be emailing the head of rivals if you want to go that route. : )Originally posted by Irish437:
29-5 and ACC conference tournament champions. The job isn't done, but saying Brey should be fired if elite 8 isn't achieved is ridiculous. You claim ND has the pick of the litter but they don't. They have to get kids who will attend class and take it seriously. North Carolina is on the opposite end of the spectrum. Their athletes don't even go to class. The classes they are signed up for don't even exist. The fact that ND can beat them is nothing short of amazing.
I think we should ask the pay board goon squad to evaluate this poster and decide if he stays or goes.
I say you don't have anything to do with firing coaches. By the way, Brey just recently signed a long term contract.Originally posted by hawkit3113:

Yeah, I use to think coach K was on the up and up, but I am not sure anyone in the country is anymore. Outside of a few schools. I have said this many times on the basketball board, "show me a coach that consistently recruits well in Chicago and I will show you a coach that cheats." Every great player in Chicago has 5 handlers you have to grease to get them to your school. And with this UNC thing, I think its very likley that its wide spread. Now, that doesnt mean there is a shortage of good and smart players though. Across the river from Davenport (where I live) there was a kid named Chason Randle, who went to Stanford over all the BIG 10 schools and a couple others, because he was thinking about his future. Those are the kids we need to find. And I dont mean to keep harping, but look at every Catholic school across the country we could take adavantage of. They are out there. Espeically in the larger metro areas, where Catholic schools are the only alternative to very bad and poor public schools.Originally posted by Irish437:
I'd be real interested to see what Duke's academic policy actually is. They get some one and done kids. Hard to imagine these kids take their academics seriously. In other words, they float through the first semester and by the time the basketball season ends, they have packed it all in and off they go. Would ND allow stuff like this? Not saying Duke does, I would just like an impartial party to describe the academic differences between the schools.
Why cant ND be better? Why shouldnt ND be better? In football we shoot to be the best. Why not basketball too? We need to take advatange of the advatanges we have.Originally posted by joe60:

Given that Coach K goes into Chicago and comes out with people like Parker means someone is paying the middle man for him. I am sure he has the Duke administration in his pocket too, the basketball program keeps Duke on the map.Originally posted by hawkit3113:

I will. But one Sweet 16 isnt good enough for me. We are better than that. Atleast I think we are. I am also an Iowa fan, and he reminds me of Tom Davis. He will get you one win, and then a second round out every year.Originally posted by Bodizephax:
Hawkit, why not just watch the tournament first before you call for Mike Breys head. You are a weak troller.
I completely agree. Same with Self, and Coach Cal. Who also do very well in Chicago.Originally posted by Irish437:

This is true. My bad. This is a great time. It totally sucks that they paired us with Kentucky, but I am never saying never, and I am channeling the Spirit of Digger Phelps, as we beat the unbeatable UCLA back in the 74.Originally posted by jr97:
Hawk be positive. This is a good time. No bad karma . Brey has done a great job with this team and should build on this recruiting as well. We have a 1st team AA ,great leadership , excellent guard play and IF Zack plays like he did in the second half vs NC this team can beat anyone. including Kentucky. We all know the tourney is full of surprises. How about this " ND has just ended another winning Streak and will advance to the FINAL FOUR !!!!!!"

I was lucky enough to listen to somebody very plugged in with ND basketball talk about a number of different things regarding the program, and he took questions at the end. The topic of one and dones came up, and he said that he's pretty sure Brey would do it, but there is no chance the university would allow a student in if it was obvious he was going to leave after a year. Somebody asked him about Coach K taking one and dones now, and he knows for a fact that if Coach K says he is admitted to the university, he's admitted. He has that kind of power. Says he wasn't always that way, but you almost have to do that to keep up today.Originally posted by hawkit3113:

You mad that Iowa bowed out early from B1G championship to a pretty big under dog?
Just glad you are not the AD at ND.Originally posted by hawkit3113:

Are you ok with just making the tourney? I think we can do better. And that year, is this year. So anything less that an elite 8, is not good. IMO.Originally posted by Irishjohn68:

It is a crap shoot, and perhaps I should have held off on this thread until I see how we do. But I have been thinking this for awhile, and that we have had many cracks at this thing over the years, and I just figure we should bust through at some point.Originally posted by jacksondomer:
It's a crapshoot..can ND get to the final weekend?..yes. But are there any easy games?...no. You have UK, Arizona...in my opinion they are the best 2 teams in the country right now...Nova might be there as well. After that...who knows. Texas beat the hell out of UK on the boards when they played them, they are athletic and long. ND may see them on Saturday. Butler is very disciplined and if they get by Texas they will not be an easy out...I actually think ND matches up better with the teams they may face NEXT weekend if they can get that far....like you...this is just my opinion.
