I say Elite 8 or we fire Mike Brey

Lamest attempt to troll that I've seen in a long time. Truth be told, an elite 8 appearance doesn't hold a candle to the ACC championship. It's final 4 or bust.

I was going to say FF but Kentucky will be tough to get past.

I am not trolling pal. We should be alot better at basketball and a national power, with our recruiting abilites.

Just crawled out from under the rock and trolling hard. 53,000 posts and they were not here.

I've been on this board before you were born, slappy. You people should be ashamed to call yourself Irish fans.

1. Brey has underachieved.
2. We have the pick of the litter amongst Catholic schools accross the country.

Tell me where I am wrong? That isnt trolling, that is the truth.

29-5 and ACC conference tournament champions. The job isn't done, but saying Brey should be fired if elite 8 isn't achieved is ridiculous. You claim ND has the pick of the litter but they don't. They have to get kids who will attend class and take it seriously. North Carolina is on the opposite end of the spectrum. Their athletes don't even go to class. The classes they are signed up for don't even exist. The fact that ND can beat them is nothing short of amazing.

I think we should ask the pay board goon squad to evaluate this poster and decide if he stays or goes. :)

Dont be threatening me with MB detectives and good squads. I will be emailing the head of rivals if you want to go that route. : )

Agreed on finding kids smart enough, but Duke does it, so I am not buying it. And yes we do have the pick of the litter. Every Catholic school kids growing up wants to go to ND. Yes, there are a few at the top that can rival us with education and basketball but there are alot of quality basketball players across the country. Brey is too inconsistent.

I'd be real interested to see what Duke's academic policy actually is. They get some one and done kids. Hard to imagine these kids take their academics seriously. In other words, they float through the first semester and by the time the basketball season ends, they have packed it all in and off they go. Would ND allow stuff like this? Not saying Duke does, I would just like an impartial party to describe the academic differences between the schools.

I say you don't have anything to do with firing coaches. By the way, Brey just recently signed a long term contract.

Yeah, I use to think coach K was on the up and up, but I am not sure anyone in the country is anymore. Outside of a few schools. I have said this many times on the basketball board, "show me a coach that consistently recruits well in Chicago and I will show you a coach that cheats." Every great player in Chicago has 5 handlers you have to grease to get them to your school. And with this UNC thing, I think its very likley that its wide spread. Now, that doesnt mean there is a shortage of good and smart players though. Across the river from Davenport (where I live) there was a kid named Chason Randle, who went to Stanford over all the BIG 10 schools and a couple others, because he was thinking about his future. Those are the kids we need to find. And I dont mean to keep harping, but look at every Catholic school across the country we could take adavantage of. They are out there. Espeically in the larger metro areas, where Catholic schools are the only alternative to very bad and poor public schools.

Why cant ND be better? Why shouldnt ND be better? In football we shoot to be the best. Why not basketball too? We need to take advatange of the advatanges we have.

Given that Coach K goes into Chicago and comes out with people like Parker means someone is paying the middle man for him. I am sure he has the Duke administration in his pocket too, the basketball program keeps Duke on the map.

I will. But one Sweet 16 isnt good enough for me. We are better than that. Atleast I think we are. I am also an Iowa fan, and he reminds me of Tom Davis. He will get you one win, and then a second round out every year.

I need to see more from Brey this year. This is one of our best teams. This team is elite 8 material. Anythig less is a failure in my book.

I completely agree. Same with Self, and Coach Cal. Who also do very well in Chicago.

Hawk be positive. This is a good time. No bad karma . Brey has done a great job with this team and should build on this recruiting as well. We have a 1st team AA ,great leadership , excellent guard play and IF Zack plays like he did in the second half vs NC this team can beat anyone. including Kentucky. We all know the tourney is full of surprises. How about this " ND has just ended another winning Streak and will advance to the FINAL FOUR !!!!!!"

This is true. My bad. This is a great time. It totally sucks that they paired us with Kentucky, but I am never saying never, and I am channeling the Spirit of Digger Phelps, as we beat the unbeatable UCLA back in the 74.

A FF would be very achievable in any other bracket. And would really be a nice shot in the arm for the program. I hope we can make it. That would be so awesome.

Sweet 16 or Fans Get Mean
Elite Eight or Firing Won't Wait
Final Four or They'll Show You the Door

I was lucky enough to listen to somebody very plugged in with ND basketball talk about a number of different things regarding the program, and he took questions at the end. The topic of one and dones came up, and he said that he's pretty sure Brey would do it, but there is no chance the university would allow a student in if it was obvious he was going to leave after a year. Somebody asked him about Coach K taking one and dones now, and he knows for a fact that if Coach K says he is admitted to the university, he's admitted. He has that kind of power. Says he wasn't always that way, but you almost have to do that to keep up today.

Also found out what the whole Auguste situation was about when he was suspended for about a week in January. Turns out it was nothing more than a miscommunication. If it happened at 99% of other universities, no way he gets suspended at all.

I mean really.

Ain't no one here got no time for hour trolling.

You mad that Iowa bowed out early from B1G championship to a pretty big under dog?

I wouldn't be too sure Catholic school basketball stars grow up dreaming of ND. This idea is outdated for even football but i am not sure it even existed for basketball.

I think we should also win 12 games this football season or burn every Brey turtleneck

Why are people convinced this is a troll.

This is a really great team. Do you not expect an elite 8 appearence at minimum? If we cant do it with this team, we have leveled off and not sure Brey is the guy.

I think I told you this last week.

Just glad you are not the AD at ND.
Are you ok with just making the tourney? I think we can do better. And that year, is this year. So anything less that an elite 8, is not good. IMO.

It's a crapshoot..can ND get to the final weekend?..yes. But are there any easy games?...no. You have UK, Arizona...in my opinion they are the best 2 teams in the country right now...Nova might be there as well. After that...who knows. Texas beat the hell out of UK on the boards when they played them, they are athletic and long. ND may see them on Saturday. Butler is very disciplined and if they get by Texas they will not be an easy out...I actually think ND matches up better with the teams they may face NEXT weekend if they can get that far....like you...this is just my opinion.

It is a crap shoot, and perhaps I should have held off on this thread until I see how we do. But I have been thinking this for awhile, and that we have had many cracks at this thing over the years, and I just figure we should bust through at some point.

Don't worry about it....this isn't Russia...you are allowed an opinion. No way ND isn't thinking the same thing about past flameouts...it comes down to making shots for them...a few weeks back I posted a paragraph or 2 after we played like crap against Syracuse..I watched the tape of the game and realized we had great looks but did not make shots. We shot 3-22 from 3 and lost. I said if we were to play Duke and they shot 3-22 they would lose. So what happens, Duke's 4 perimeter players shoot 4-32 on Friday nite....what happened..THEY LOST! That's why if they can get the monkey off the back I think they can get to the final eight...

Why? Are you getting information from students at the library again?

this opinion that ND has "advantages" in bball is absolutely freakin ridiculous. In football we can still recruit at a high level b/c of brand recognition and tradition. In bball what has ND ever done? And in football I would argue we aren't recruiting at a top level anymore either and haven't for yrs other than a a couple top 5 classes, most are 5-15 range.

Questioning that we should be better is fine, but to call for the coaches head when we havent been this far in in many years is ridiculous. You may or may not be a troll, but a comment like that will get you the comments that you see in this thread.

ACC championship, sweet sixteen, and the guys mother, who is his inspiration in coaching, dies the morning of the game, and you call for his head, think before you post!
