I had heard some of these stories before, but there is a lot to unpack with this article. I know nothing about the author, so I don't know if USC insiders consider this article to be a hatchet job, as many at ND do about the book "Under the Tarnished Dome." The article paints an interesting picture of former USC President Chrysostomos Loizos “Max” Nikias. If nothing else, Nikias had some very ambitious goals for the university. Some of USC's problem, I think, lies with the fact that it is located in a city full of pretenders, wannabes and complete phonies. As the saying goes, when you sleep with the dog, you're going to get fleas.
