This article is 3 years old, but it makes for a long if not interesting read about the history of USC:

I had heard some of these stories before, but there is a lot to unpack with this article. I know nothing about the author, so I don't know if USC insiders consider this article to be a hatchet job, as many at ND do about the book "Under the Tarnished Dome." The article paints an interesting picture of former USC President Chrysostomos Loizos “Max” Nikias. If nothing else, Nikias had some very ambitious goals for the university. Some of USC's problem, I think, lies with the fact that it is located in a city full of pretenders, wannabes and complete phonies. As the saying goes, when you sleep with the dog, you're going to get fleas.

Hence why they went all in for Riley and the portal. They are an institution that will not only do illegal things but enthusiastically do unethical things. It’s in the water out here for Gods sake!

Riley is the type of guy that will put winning above anything else. He’s the perfect example of the Beverly Hillbilly. Hence the 17 million dollar home in the palisades that rivals everything that Hollywood elites and other vapid CA people would covet.,

NIL is perfect for this cesspool. It’s legalized corruption. SC was corrupt when it was illegal. Can you imagine now?

You would think that after previous run ins that USC would be extra cautious and err on the side of being squeaky clea.

Time will tell.
