Generational finger pointing is always stupid.

Zona,
You are 100% correct. I have never seen a generation that felt
so entitled as the last few generations
or so. Of course, there are exceptions as exemplified by the young men serving in the military, but I would not
spend one dime of my money to send a kid to college today, unless that kid was truly gifted intellectually,
highly motivated to achieve, and following a very challenging academic program that led to a professional
degree. One strike and they would be out !
In my large extended family, We have judges, lawyers, Teachers , and policemen. All were born relatively poor, some in absolute poverty. All had to work their way through High School, served in the military, and then worked their way through college and , in most cases , graduate and law school.
The police officers and detectives in my family worked one of the toughest areas of Brooklyn.
They never went out with the intention of shooting or killing anyone. They were there to protect the
law abiding citizens of that community, they were peace makers, who also looked forward to returning home to their families each and every night,
It high crime and murder areas, it seems to me that more police protection is required , not less !
Not saying all of this generation: the ones that go to college seem to be more entitled and left wing. The ones that go in the service and then a trade school or college seem more mature and not entitled. Our dopey friend Ivan cartoon life has ignoramus drawn all over him
So to sum up your view, college educated and liberal is less mature, and high school educated and conservative is more mature. Funny how that works.
Entitled in need of safe spaces. want something for nothing attitude is certainly immature. saying pointing generational fingers is stupid but then saying one is a pathetic old man is immature. People that have lived life tend to be mature people that were given things tend not to be, you are a dope there is nothing positive about you.
You are the one who started tossing insults ("you are the second dumbest poster here"). And then when someone responds, you start crying "immature!!!".
Seems like you can dish it out but not take it, snowflake.
Also, students who have worked hard in high school, received good grades, and who have earned a chance to go to a university are not "immature".

Not sure what it means now but it came out of a speech that had to do with the narcissism of the young people who were always told they were unique perfect little snowflakes. Had little to do with complaining at first. My have taken on a different meaning though.Wrong.
It specifically refers to people complaining about how they're being treated, and nothing else.
But I get that you'd like to obfuscate that.

More or less still means that.
It's used to refer to people who are complaining about not being treated as special, unique snowflakes.
Basically, anyone complaining about treatment that most people would call "normal" or "just a fact of life"
You still have no idea what "snowflake" means, and you're not using it correctly.
And as someone who worked hard in high school, went to college (recently) and knows a lot of these kids...................a TON of them are immature.
A lot of college kids have no real-world experience and certainly act like entitled 8-year-olds.
Not all of them, but many of them.
I think we'd be FAR better off as a nation if we started prioritizing work experience and/or military experience as near pre-requisite for college admissions
(personally, I'd make that change at nearly every state-funded school)
Oneill,
I don't think that this " Genration " is any near Tough enough to take the training, discipline, and military life ? Of course, there are exceptions like the people currently serving in our military and those that
were born poor and had to work hard from an early age.
But generally speaking, When I look back at my Parents' generation, the Greatest Generation and compare that generation to the most recent few generations, I fear that we are getting near the bottom of the
slippery slop that we have been on since the 1960's .
I also see North Korea, Iran, and other international hot spots, that I think will and must be dealt with
sooner rather than later because weak kneed leaders and wishful thinkers wanted " Peace in our time ". As a
result, We may have to to act quickly or risk nuclear war ?
Unfortunately, I just don't see this generation uniting, joining the military and doing what has to be done ?
They will did up old slogans that their " Radical Professors " used in the 1960,s like " Make love, not war !"
until the last minute before some lunatic fires the first nuclear war head in our direction !
Very sad !
You guys are jizzing your opinions all over this board like it's gospel. Stop me if you're heard this but opinions are like butt holes, everyone has them and they stink. Who cares who you deem mature/immature IT'S YOUR DAMN OPINION and it doesn't make you any better than the next man or woman.
I don't expect or necessarily want the younger generation to be conservatives per se, as youthful idealism is part of the rite of passage in our society and culture. I'm much more concerned over the lack of critical thinking taking place throughout our education system, and the appalling lack of factual knowledge of both our history and current affairs. It's one thing to embrace a well reasoned liberal or progressive ideology, and something entirely different to blindly follow the group think that passes for higher education in this country today.
I think you're overstating and over-generalizing, which is where people like Ivan are going to rip this type of post/opinion apart
But in general, I think there is too much entitlement and not enough toughness/work-ethic in my generation.
Specifically, I think this has been a problem for every previous generation too, likely in similar proportions.
But in my generation we've allowed people with these issues to soak up more resources (entitlements) and rise to higher levels, despite their lack of willingness to do whatever it takes and/or their immaturity.
We need to change the culture to one that focuses more on hard work to get what you want, and being entitled to basically nothing.
I hope that I am both over generalizing and that I am too pessimistic and also wrong, but I see History
repeating itself , and it is very troubling to me ! Again, I hope against hope that I am wrong !
Not one time did I say my message was gospel. More anecdotal. You realize that this post actually invalidates itself, as it is also an opinion....right?
Opinion sharing is not only the purpose of this message board (and every message board) but also one of hte founding principals of America.
Try again.....but this time, try harder
Not one time did I say my message was gospel. More anecdotal.
He works for the government in a non essential role. He has trouble tieing his shoes.Your response makes no sense.
Go back and rethink.
Try MUCH harder.
Bug is the dumbest. With a little lack of effort you may get there
He works for the government in a non essential role. He has trouble tieing his shoes.
You have trouble spelling tying. Work on your own problems.
Anyone resorting to spelling-slams on a football message board.......shouldn't be commenting on anything, at all.
Remember that.
Right...I forgot the contards don't think education is that important.
You don't need to be creating multiple ids...remember that.
NIN has proven many times that he/she is not educated on the issues.Stupid enough to confuse education with caring about spelling on an internet message....an resorting to name calling.
Really says all that needs to be said about your intelligence level.
You shouldn't be expressing an opinion on anything.
Remember that.

You don't seem that bright, needing multiple handles on a message board, says all that needs to be said about your intelligence level.
You should just stop posting and save yourself from the embarrassment.
Remember that.
Another multiple id character. What issues are you referring to tommy, end 23, row the boat, turnover machine?
You are clearly so ignorant it's hardly worth discussing with such imbeciles.
Really struggling, huh little buddy.
It's okay.
If I was as stupid as you've revealed yourself to be, I'd avoid discussing the issues too....although, I'd never sink so low as to focus on internet board spelling.
I'd recommend you stop posting in these type of threads....you're just humiliating yourself more every time.
It's obvious you have no ability to discuss the issues.
You can always tell who's incapable of discussing actual issues/topics....because they focus on message board spelling and personal insults
You're gonna want to bow out of posting here for at least a few months...it's getting bad for you here.
It's been a while since I've seen someone humiliate themselves the way you have in this thread.
You've really outed yourself as a moron here, little buddy.
You're having a hard time following the posts, and aren't making any sense. In fact, you post the same garbage in most of your posts. It's clear you like to argue and insult to try to make a point on a message board, much like top decker. Lols. That's not how I went to spend my time with you.
I'll use your words back at you. Moron, little buddy, stupid.
What kind of idiot says you can't talk about issues because of personal insults and then proceeds to dish them out at your rate?
You can have the final word, and I'll await your latest barrage of insults and hypocrisy, which is so common with you. Lol
Its impressive sbr thatbyore so dumb that someone using irony to mock you actually goes over your head
Congrats on achieving a truly impressive level of stupidity.
As I said, it's been a very tough thread for you.
You clearly don't have the knowledge, analytical, or conversational skills to discuss issues in meaningful way.
You better take a few months off, and hope this humiliation lessens with time.
No Safe spaces in the real world Snowflakes!IMO any students needing a "safe" space should be sent to college in North Korea.....or Syria to get a wake up call on WHY they should Love AMERICA!!
MAGA!!!
It's difficult to understand what you're trying to say in your first sentence.
You dish out insults on a regular basis to many posters, so don't pretend you're using irony.
You keep mentioning issues, conversations, and discussions. Where did you come up with this that involves me? Thank you.
Decker, I think it's best you create another id with a new image. This image is ignorant, argumentative, and repeats itself in many posts. Good luck.
And I'm not going back and forth with a child, especially in the same way you do with many posters here.
