I'll say the obvious: most of us have played sports and know the entire team does not opt out unless a program is imploding. ND is not. I get being frustrated, but come on with the negativity!

No coach would do much better with this personnel. Ok, maybe the losses to Marshall and Stanford are on MF, as a seasoned head coach probably avoids those. But those games are neither here nor there...today MF is dealing with a depleted roster that didn't have great depth to begin with...especially at the all important QB position.

Even Nick Saban wouldn't make Buchner a world beater. But the team is trying their best. Sometimes you're just not good enough. I accept that.

I’m fine with letting him go but I don’t see a major regression in the offense like I do the defense.

Agree, defense was pretty bad this year. They look slow and also somewhat undersized upfront. Golden did a bad job in game preparation and made few if any adjustments at halftime; similar scenario again today. Offensive line has also frankly not shown up this game except for one drive. Overall,a coaching staff that once again looks to be over its head.
