8-0 Notre Dame already has played a full Big 10 schedule and surpassed any kind of Pac-12 schedule as it enters first-semester final exams week from Nov. 16-20 before the Nov. 21 bye and the Nov. 27 game at North Carolina.

Miami FL next 2 games are postponed

The ACC did some reshuffling of the schedule. Im surprised they didn’t move the Miami-Wake Forest to December 12th and cancel the Wake Forest-ND game if ND beats UNC.

OT: Mark Buehrle for the Hall of Fame??

Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune received his baseball Hall of Fame ballot. Whenever the ballot is received, a columnist is almost always required to have a column on the chances of one of the local heroes to make the Hall of Fame. Today Sullivan had an article on the possibility of Mark Buehrle making the Hall of Fame.

I immediately laughed at that idea. While a good pitcher, I never thought of Buehrle as a candidate for the Hall of Fame. However, after reading Sullivan's column and checking his stats with Baseball Reference, I would concede that Buehrle does merit at least some slight consideration based on his 214 career wins.

However, I don't think that Buehrle is deserving of being in the Hall of fame. His career stats, listed below, do not scream "Hall of Fame" to me. The one glaring stat that jumps out to me is his paltry Cy Young votes. He finished in the top-10 of Cy Young voting only one time, and that was a 5th place showing. That shortcoming in and of itself should be a disqualifier for his candidacy for the Hall of Fame. I would think that a Hall of Fame pitcher should at least have multiple years of top-10 finishes in Cy Young voting - if not at least having won one.

Buehrle's 162 game career average stats for his 16 year career is certainly nothing to be ashamed of. It confirms what most baseball people thought of Buehrle when he played - that this is a solid front of the rotation starting pitcher who will take the ball every 5th day and give you innings. Someone that any team would love to have in their rotation. He just is not a Hall of Fame pitcher. Kind of like a pitching version of Harold Baines.

14 wins - 11 losses - 3.81 era - 1.281 whip - 221 innings; he won 214 games in his career; made 5 all-star teams; pitched in one World Series; won 4 gold gloves; pitched 2 no-hitters, with one being a perfect game; but was 5th in Cy Young voting in his single season of finishing in the top-10.

First College Football Playoff Rankings Next Tuesday (Nov. 24)

Considering that BYE (not to be confused with BYU) shouldn't be a formidable foe for the Irish this weekend, Notre Dame should join Alabama, Ohio State and Clemson as the first four in.

It will be announced live on ESPN Tuesday, November 24 at 7 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. CT. Following the announcement, a media teleconference will take place at 7:45 p.m. ET / 6:45 p.m. CT featuring Gary Barta, selection committee chair, and Bill Hancock, executive director of the CFP.

Do you think playing in ACC this season has been a positive experience?

Notre Dame rightfully so deserved the credit it received this season by joining the ACC for the 2020 playing season. Do you like think this has been a positive experience for Fighting Irish football?

My observations of the positives of joining the ACC for 2020 season:

1.) With the addition of Notre Dame and resurgence of Miami the conference is much more than Clemson. Heck even throw in an improved Boston College and North Carolina program and the ACC is downright the Second best conference in NCAA Football this season.

2.) Notre Dame has received more positive press from the National Media than ever before which could be attributed to joining the ACC for the season. Notre Dame could even make the College Playoffs with a tight scoring loss to Clemson. Going undefeated during the season most likely the only way for ND to go to playoffs in future. Also, playing in an ACC championship game with help if we make the NCAA Playoffs.

3.) Travel schedule is easier and less wear on the players and coaching staff.

4.) Demographic and recruiting shifts to Southeast was the main reason for playing 6 games against the ACC in the past. I think being in the ACC this season during Covid-19 may have helped recruiting a few kids (Only time will tell).

5.) With the exception of Ohio State and Indiana the Big Ten looks Big, Slow and Tired when it comes to play in 2020. The Big Ten has one superstar QB in Fields and an upcoming star in Mertz and Penix. The ACC is loaded with talent at the QB position (Best QB's in college Football) which equals exciting on field play and a ton of media attention.

If I was to give a grade for playing the ACC this Season it would be an A+ and a positve experience for all.

Unpopular Hot Take - Harbaugh Will Not Be Gone from UM

So I've really been studying UM all season trying to figure out what exactly is going wrong. I've probably watched more of UM this year than of ND. For some reason my kids always want to jump on me, start crying, be a toddler and a baby whenever ND is on. I get naps during UM games (for obvious reasons).

Jim Harbaugh will be the head coach at Michigan in 2021 and the foreseeable future. His contract/life insurance component will be a tough pill for the buyout case. Also, NFL teams are no longer really interested in Harbaugh.

Here's what he needs to do ... a COMPLETE reset.

Remember how BK essentially did that after the disaster of the 2016 season?

Cull the heard - completely overhaul the coaching staff beginning with Don Brown.

Don Brown's defensive philosophy only works when he has an elite talent advantage on defense. He folds like a cheap card table whenever the "death by a thousand blitzes" can't withstand a competent offense that can execute simple combo routes that strand corners with no safety help. I don't know why Don Brown hates his corners so much but he sure as hell does.

Ohio State very well could put up 100 if they REALLY wanted to.

On offense, he completely abandoned his identity of a power football team and has, for some reason, embraced the whole "speed in space" concept which just doesn't work with the talent they have on that side of the football.

IF - and it's a big IF - Harbaugh can do what Kelly did and cast aside his own ego he will be able to right the ship, just like Kelly did at ND.

Daelin Hayes Named Semifinalist For Jason Witten Award

He is 20 national semifinalists for the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award, which honors college football student-athletes who have demonstrated a record of leadership by exhibiting exceptional courage, integrity and sportsmanship both on and off the field.

Selected as a team captain this season, Hayes became a leader in Notre Dame Football’s efforts to promote and enact racial justice. He is a member of the program’s Unity Council, a group which also includes staff members and head coach Brian Kelly, and organizes efforts to give student-athletes a voice. He helped coordinate and was a speaker at the program’s Juneteenth Rally for social justice, and has been a voice for the program on the national stage. As part of the Unity Council’s efforts, every eligible student-athlete in the football program was registered to vote.

Hayes is in the midst of an impressive fifth-year campaign, leading a defensive line that has combined for the ACC’s second-ranked rushing defense, allowing just 85.1 yards/game. This season Hayes has 3.0 sacks, two FF, one FR and three QBH, and was named ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week for his performance at Georgia Tech.

He has been highly active in the South Bend community, and was named a 2019-20 ACC Top Six for Service award winner. Prior to his recent work, Daelin has been actively involved in the Robinson Community Learning Center, an educational initiative that reaches over 8,000 youth in the Greater South Bend area annually. He is also a leader at team community service events, including Shop With A Player (team members take children from local schools and the Pokagon Band shopping for Christmas presents), Football & The Force (charity softball game between Notre Dame football and local law enforcement officers), Saint Mary's College Dance Marathon to benefit Riley Hospital for Children, Roof Sit to prevent child abuse in St. Joseph County, among several other volunteer efforts.

Recruiting Notre Dame Football Recruiting Sweet 16

My top 16 targets for the Irish in the 2022 class based on a combination of three factors: positional need/importance, mutual interest in Notre Dame and talent level.

Let me know what you think of the article!

OT - Michigan Recommendations

The in-laws recently relocated to Michigan (Bloomfield Hills area) to be near extended family. My wife is now sold on the idea that we need a lake house in Michigan for family gatherings/summer get-togethers. I've spent a bit of time in Michigan but suspect many of you are much better positioned to provide recommendations from personal experience.

We're looking for a place on the water but also want a town with character. I'd prefer something more scenic/peaceful, but the wife is rightly concerned about things for the kids to do (toddlers through teenagers).

A few of the towns under early consideration:
- Grand Haven (I'm a fan due to proximity to ND)
- Traverse City
- Charlevoix
- Tawas

I'd appreciate any insight into these towns -- I've visited Grand Haven and Traverse, but visiting for long weekends is different than owning/staying for longer stretches of time.
