Recruiting Watch: 2025 QB target Deuce Knight shows off athleticism on basketball court

Notre Dame 2025 quarterback target Deuce Knight shared a basketball clip showcasing his athleticism on Friday morning.

Knight, a four-star recruit in the 2025 recruiting class, is ranked as the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the 2025 class.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound quarterback from Lucedale (Miss.) George County is scheduled to visit the Irish tomorrow. He visited Notre Dame in April for spring practice.

The Irish are in Knight's top 10 along with Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennesee, TCU, Texas A&M and Washington. Its worth noting Knight released his top 10 before his Alabama offer, which came yesterday.

Knight visited Tennesee last weekend and Ole Miss in late May.

NDMBB Recruiting European Players

The NBA is drafting them, higher, it seems, all the time. So why doesn't ND get aggressive recruiting them? European basketball players.

The source of their strength is part of the problem. If a European 15 year old is a BB star, he turns pro and plays with men. He gets coached hard and gets better or goes home.

In the U.S., similar 15 year olds play for their high school and AAU team. If their coach is too demanding, they change schools or AAU teams.1

The challenge for a U.S college MBB coach is to find a Euro kid who is talented and not yet a pro. He could start with Tony Parker the Spurs former all-star point guard who has a BB school in France. Find out how good players are who have not turned pro and are set to finish high school. Build a relationship with Parker and expand the ND network throughout Europe. Jack might hire a qualified young guy to work Europe, build the network, identify prospects, then bring in NDMBB recruiters. It should not take more than one, maybe two years to evaluate the field of young players willing to go to great U.S. university rather than turning pro.

I think it is fair to guess that ND is better known in Europe than nearly any other American university that plays in time basketball.

Can't compete with NIL acquisition money or portal players that fit at ND? Go to Europe. At least find out it's potential

Coming to my first game

Hey guys, I’m flying in from Canada to Chicago with the missus and she got us tickets to the central Michigan game (clearly have to marry this one). What’s my best course of action to get the full experience?
I was going to get tickets on a party bus called Irish express that sets up travel and tailgating but if there’s a better course of action I’m all ears.

Thanks!

Woo Nelly---Time Out

The image of a college football game going into the late afternoon is about to get another hit. The NCAA rules committee approved the change keeping the clock running after first downs. The NFL already allows that.

The status quo certainly is to cave to the Sports Networks who provide the 63 minutes of commercial time allotted on Saturdays. Already clear is the result will be plays run by student athletes will be lessened. Hey, they may need that recover time after a first down No! Cfb averages about 160 plays per game 40 more than professional football.

While rosters filled with 100 plus football players are looking for opportunities(REPS) the established administrators may be stepping blind by penalizing the enjoyments seen in college football. Assistant rules chair Coach Kirby Smart has said the hazard of injuries will be helped by the change. Interesting, have they asked the ATHLETES(nil) their opinion in significant ways on this? Smart said we'll try it out.Hopefully he checks that out with Chairman Boo Corrigan. I doubt the networks will look back.

The game has grown as a media with spectators--47.5 million fans attending(2019) and 392 regular season telecasts reaching 145 million homes. Popular and the University of Notre Dame has put out a 80 million ad for evidence. Saturdays pre-game and post game celebrations are obviously a large part of what makes it special.

But,the actual games are delayed by reviews(8-20minutes) teams get 2/2minutes and they're bothersome. The halftime is 20 minutes and the exit and enter times of magnificent bands makes me wonder why not flip a coin for pre and post game band performances? And why not just limit overtime to one share of possession?

The Networks who support the show for viewers are mega-businesses who do not really suffer when a game goes 4 minutes late. It's a dime in their financial calendar.
Notre Dame Football Coach Marcus Freeman said this week we play with the rules they give us. A 3hr and 22 minute ballgame is not too long.
The 11 minutes of real football playing time in a 60 minute game cannot take another hit.

Basketball 2025 four-star PF target Trent Sisley recaps Notre Dame visit

Notre Dame men's basketball hosted 2025 power forward Trent Sisley on an unofficial visit last Thursday. It was Sisley and his family's first time visiting Notre Dame.

The 6-foot-7, 200-pound power forward attends Santa Claus (Ind.) Heritage Hills and is arguably the top in-state prospect head coach Micah Shrewsberry and staff have prioritized since offering him in April. He averaged 26.3 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game and was selected to the IBCA Underclass All-State Supreme 15 team in March.

Rivals rates Sisley as a four-star prospect. He is ranked as the No. 37 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class.

I spoke with Sisley to get his thoughts after visiting. Sisley sat down with Shrewsberry for the first time, toured, the basketball facilities, saw the entire campus and met with an academic advisor.

"I think it went well," Sisley told Inside ND Sports. "He kind of showed and explained his system and how I would fit in. The staff definitely made it known all day how much they wanted me. Conversations with the staff were good. I think my versatility could definitely fit into their system. I can stretch the floor and I can run in transition so I think I could definitely fit their plans."

Sisley mentioned how all the assistant coaches including associate head coach Kyle Getter made him feel welcomed during the entire day. He knew about Notre Dame's academic opportunities but was very impressed after speaking with the academic advisor.

Sisley holds 10 offers including Notre Dame, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Purdue, UCF, West Virginia and Wisconsin. He visited Northwestern last Wednesday.

I believe Notre Dame is in a good position moving forward, especially with the way Shrewsberry utilizes his forwards, but don't expect a decision soon. Sisley is letting the process play out naturally.

"For my recruitment, I just want to go somewhere where I fit," Sisley said. "I want to be able to contribute and play. Notre Dame has definitely made a good impression and shown lots of interest in me so far. As for the rest of my recruitment, I am just going to let it play out."

The Irish target told me has no plans to take any other visits this summer and is preparing for school tournaments in June and the upcoming Nike Elite 100 Camp.

Football More from Notre Dame's "Every Angle" series

Notre Dame has continued to upload these to its YouTube page, but I haven't been keeping up with them.

You may remember the first two being Benjamin Morrison's pick-6 against Clemson and Kyren Williams' long touchdown run against North Carolina.

The latest editions include Josh Adams vs. USC, Chris Finke vs. Michigan, Ian Book vs. Virginia Tech and Braden Lenzy vs. USC.

Recruiting Notes on 2026 DE prospect Jake Kreul

I spoke with Notre Dame 2026 defensive end prospect Jake Kreul after his Irish Invasion performance last weekend.

The 6-foot-3, 217-pound defender had 49 tackles, including seven for loss and seven sacks for Orlando (Fla.) Bishop Moore last season.

On his trip:

“It was a great experience," Kreul told Inside ND Sports. "I got to meet the coaches. I toured the campus and saw the athletic facilities with [defensive assistant] Nick Sebastian and met [defensive line] coach [Al] Washington."

On Washington’s coaching:

“He taught me a lot after going through drills and one-on-ones," Kreul said. "They really helped me break down my rush, understand the stance and different steps I take. They were very technical. I loved the juice they bring to their practices. The energy that they have is different [and] second to none."

On interest in Notre Dame:

“Their brand is the best," Kreul said. "I know it’s a great environment there. I know it’s a great education. Also, they’re one of the best football programs in the country. I know they'll develop me."

Kreul reports four offers from Florida International, Marshall, Massachusetts and UCF. He camped at UCF Tuesday and has quickly built a good relationship with the Knights coaching staff after they offered him the summer before his freshman year.

I think he’s on Notre Dame’s radar in the 2026 class after an impressive showing last weekend.

Recruiting Two new FutureCast predictions in favor of Notre Dame

I'm going to wait until Monday to put these through in the system, because that's public to everyone, but I wanted to share this with our subscribers on The Insider Lounge first.

Coming off Notre Dame's first official visit weekend, I will be submitting Rivals FutureCast predictions in Notre Dame's favor for four-star RB Kedren Young and three-star OT Styles Prescod.

I'm hearing good things about both coming off their official visits this weekend.

I think ND moved the needle with safety target Paul Mencke Jr. and offensive tackle target Guerby Lambert as well, but I'm not ready to put in a Notre Dame prediction yet.
