Notre Dame hosted 2025 tight end target James Flanigan on an unofficial visit on Saturday. The four-star recruit out of Green Bay (Wisc.) Notre Dame De La Baie Acad’s last visit to the Irish was in July for the Grill & Chill recruiting event.

According to Rivals, Flanigan is ranked as the No. 7 tight end and No. 244 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class.

“[Director of Recruiting] Chad [Bowden], [head] coach [Marcus] Freeman and all the other coaches are always awesome, we have always had a great relationship with them,” Flanigan told Inside ND Sports.

Flanigan was observed walking into Notre Dame Stadium during The Victory March with Bowden, Irish commits and 2025 targets like wide receiver Jerome Bettis Jr. and offensive tackle Owen Strebig.

After watching Notre Dame’s offense, Flanigan told me there a lot of similarities between how the tight end position is used with his high school and the Irish.

Flanigan, an Irish legacy and son of former defensive end Jim Flanigan (1990-93), said the USC game was actually the first Notre Dame game’s he’s attended as a recruit.

“It was really fun hanging out with the other guys in the stands and getting to know them,” Flanigan said.

James has nine total offers including Notre Dame, Michigan, Penn State and Stanford. He visited Stanford at the end of September for its game against Oregon.

Football Notre Dame re-enters Super 16 poll at No. 14 after toppling USC, 15th in AP poll, 18th in coaches poll

The coaches poll and AP polls will drop in the next couple of hours. Here's this week's FWAA-NFF Super 16 poll, which I vote in along with Lou Holtz. Chris Zorich, Mark May and and host of other folks with questionable sanity. I always past in my ballot at the end of these posts. As a reminder, I do a top 25 from my decades as an AP voter, but only my top 16 count in this poll. If you want to see how other voters cast their ballots, you can see them here.

HKY: Notre Dame falls to RIT on the road, 3-0.

From und.com ... Irish fall to 1-2.

RIT 3, NOTRE DAME 0: Box Score

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The University of Notre Dame hockey program dropped a 3-0 decision to RIT Saturday evening at Blue Cross Arena.

The Irish found themselves down a man early after a trip was called at 1:26 of the opening stanza. RIT capitalized on the Notre Dame penalty in the waning seconds to take the 1-0 lead just 2:57 into play.

Just minutes later the Irish found themselves on the two-man advantage after a trip and too many men penalties were assessed to the Tigers. Despite four shots on goal during the five-on-three opportunity, the Irish could not convert and trailed by a tally halfway through the first period.

The Tigers took the 2-0 lead at 12:26 of the first after a shot out front beat Ryan Bischel blocker side.

Although Notre Dame fired a few more shots on goal before the end of the period, the Irish headed to the locker room down by two goals after 20 minutes of play.

The Irish came out with a vengeance in the second period, searching for that opening goal and peppering the Tigers’ net in shots. Halfway through the middle frame, the Irish led shots on goal by a 24-10 margin.

RIT took advantage of a turnover late in the period to extend their lead to 3-0, a score that would hold through the final horn.

Both teams continued to battle in the third period but the Irish were unable to break the Tigers’ netminding and skated to the 3-0 final.

Notre Dame men’s basketball hosted many targets and prospects on Saturday during the football game against USC.

One of those prospects was Gregory Lawson, a 2025 point guard out of Davison (Mich.) High. Lawson has 11 offers including Arkansas, Florida State, Louisville, Penn State and TCU and has picked up interest from the Irish and head coach Micah Shrewsberry this fall.

Lawson spoke at length with Inside ND Sports last month before his visit.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound posted pictures from his visit on X (Twitter).

Football Five defining plays from Notre Dame's uprising over USC

It was a defensive masterpiece for Notre Dame on Saturday night, but we couldn't go with all five defining plays on defense.

Here are mine:

1. Xavier Watts’ first interception
2. Sam Hartman’s first touchdown pass
3. JD Bertrand’s fourth-down stop
4. Marist Liufau’s sack of Caleb Williams
5. Jadarian Price’s kick return touchdown

Football ***GAME THREAD: Notre Dame 48, USC 20 | Final***

It's been a chilly, dark and gray day in South Bend, but the rain has left us for now and it looks like it will leave us alone for the rest of the evening at Notre Dame Stadium for tonight's Notre Dame-USC matchup.

Let's get the game thread rolling.

We will use this game thread as the primary home for game commentary from now until after the game. We have some rules we'll ask you to follow, which will be included below.

If you're not following the rules and do not respond well to reminders, we'll remove you're posting privileges for the rest of the day. We have too much to do today to argue about it during the game. This doesn't happen often as we're pretty lenient in the game thread, but please keep that in mind.

@HotCarNut has disciplinary powers as a moderator. You can argue with him about the game, but do not argue with him about the rules.

Our game thread rules:

1. Use this thread until the end of the game for ongoing game commentary. We'd like to keep the conversation in one place. If something from the game merits a separate conversation of substance, go ahead and start another thread for that topic. When in doubt, post in the game thread.

2. Criticism of decision-making by coaches and players is allowed. But please avoid making it personal. Don't be malicious. Remember, that person's mother could be reading your post. If you cross the line, you'll lose posting privileges for the day.

3. Don't be a doofus. Have some respect for your fellow subscribers.
