The 20th-ranked Notre Dame hockey team ended the first half of its season, getting swept on the road by seventh-ranked and Big Ten leader Michigan State.

The Irish were more competitive in game 2 of the series at Munn Ice Arena in East Lansing, Mich., a night after getting blasted 5-2, but Notre Dame still left with another loss, this time 2-1 on Saturday night.

Ryan Bischel had 38 saves for Notre Dame (8-8-2, 4-4-2 Big Ten). Patrick Moynihan’s fifth goal of the season was the lone score for the Irish against Michigan State (12-4-2, 7-1-2), which outshot ND, 40-32.

Go Navy beat army

I’ve been lucky enough to attend 8 Navy army games. First was in JFK Stadium in 1976. My father a Navy man took me a 10 year old snot nosed brat. I’ve been lucky to see games at JFK, Veterans Stadium and Lincoln Financial Field all in Philadelphia PA. I’ve since been lucky to take both my boys to a couple Navy army games. And games at Navy Marine Corps Stadium and West Point.

army is 54-62-7 in the series. Marines typically make up half the Navy roster.
In circa 1993 I was patrolling Adml Wilson Blvd in Camden NJ on a Friday night before the game. The Admiral as it’s affectionately known is a Thorofare thru Camden to Philadelphia and was known for Gentlmans clubs, motels, liquor stores and a Ladies of the night for hire. On this particular night I saw a car pullover and pick up a Damsel in distress, she got in the car and went behind an abandoned building. I turned off my lights, went around the opposite way, and found the car parked in a darkened and hidden corner. I activated my overhead (police) lights and approached the car. I got out and approached the vehicle. In the front seats were a white male in business attire approximately late 20’s medium build. Passenger seat was an exotically dressed “female”, one I recognized immediately as a frequent walker of the Admiral. I asked for documents, DL-Insurance- registration. I got a military ID of US Army Captain “John Smith”. He became a little verbally aggressive. Obviously nervous and embarrassed, trying to tell me his passenger is an “OLD Friend”…. An obvious lie. I shined my flashlight in the car on the “female” companion and said Andre, show the captain here your “lady” parts. Andre was (has since passed, another story, but was murdered) Andre was a 6’4” muscular black male. Dressed in a short skirt, make up, wig and heels. Andre was blessed with a baby’s arm holding a apple between his legs. Now I know you’re wondering how’d I know this, well I knew my beat and everyone on it. Used some of the regulars for information. I had seen Andre take a piss in the area. It looked like he was holding a baton/night stick whatever you want to call it. This night he pulled up skirt and showed the Captain in all its glory his baby arm. The Captain slumped in his seat and put his hands to his face.

I said, Captain it’s alright. You’re army and I expected nothing less. I had the Captain pay Andre. Told Andre to get out of the car and to take the rest of the night off. I said Sir, you have a choice to make here, I can call your Chain of Command or you can yell, Go Navy beat Army. He did so with great enthusiasm! I handed him his documents back, thanked him for his service on the JV team. And said Semper Fi Sir, Semper Fi. He drove off and went to Philly. I wonder today if he went on to become a General. Possibly General Milley. However I do NOT remember the Captains name.

Go Navy beat army…..

Football Running list of NIL deals for Notre Dame football players (2023)

I've been thinking about doing this for a while, but I finally took the time to put it together. We will use this thread to share the NIL ongoings announced by Notre Dame football players.

To start, I went back and found NIL-related social media posts shared by players on Notre Dame's current roster. What I didn't include where things like autograph signings and camps that have already passed to avoid confusion. But we will post those in here moving forward for folks interested in showing support.

I also didn't include the individual posts that most of Notre Dame's player shared for the NBC Sports Athlete Direct program. There is a Notre Dame football NIL Fan Club that's been describe as such:

"Members receive a Players-Only Podcast with members of the team, exclusive Notre Dame coverage from NBC Sports including game notes and video content, and an invitation to a virtual group meet & greet with players at the end of the season. Membership runs through the 2023 season."

The players reportedly get a share of all the sales, and it may even be connected to the promo code that's for each specific player. I'm not sure exactly. The generic link is below. To use the promo code for individual players, you'd add "discount/NDXX" to the end of the URL. Instead of the Xs, you'd include the player's number. So for Rylie Mills, it would be ND99. There are different codes for players with duplicate numbers. For instance, Chase Ketterer is ND27CK.

The first series of posts will be listed in numerical roster order, because that's how I searched for them. But subsequent updates will just be shared whenever they're posted.

Lastly, the promotions/ads shared here do not come with endorsements from the Inside ND Sports staff. If you want to take advantage of them, that's up to you. But do not take us sharing these as recommendations unless we explicitly say so.

Recruiting CJ Carr's December plans

Touched base with Notre Dame QB commit CJ Carr today.

As has been reported elsewhere, he's put himself in position to join Notre Dame for its bowl practices. He'll be on campus for his first practice Dec. 16 and will be with the team through the bowl game. He won't play in the bowl game and might not be allowed to dress for the game. But he'll get some early work with the team as he enrolls in school and prepares for the spring semester.

The Notre Dame staff is expected to make an in-home visit with him late next week.

Football Xavier Watts, Joe Alt named first-team Walter Camp All-Americans

There's been several All-America teams that have been released in the past few days, but the Walter Camp team is one of the five that counts toward consensus and unanimous All-America honors. Players who are first-teamers on at least three of the five clinch consensus stats. They must be first-teamers on all five for unanimous All-America honors. The other teams in play are the to-be-announced teams from the Associated Press, American Football Coaches Association, Football Writers Association of America and The Sporting News.

Notre Dame safety Xavier Watts and left tackle Joe Alt were named to the Walter Camp first team.

Irish nose guard Howard Cross III was named to the Walter Camp second team.

Football Notre Dame and NBC extend their media rights deal through 2029

Multiple Fighting Irish Primetime Games to be Presented on NBC and Peacock Each Season

STAMFORD, Conn. – November 18, 2023 – The University of Notre Dame and NBC Sports have agreed on a multi-year extension of their historic football partnership, through the 2029 season. The agreement extends the landmark partnership – the longest college media relationship dating to 1991 – to nearly four decades (39 seasons).

“We are thrilled to continue our historic collaboration with our partners at NBC Sports,” said University of Notre Dame Vice President and James E. Rohr Director of Athletics Jack Swarbrick. “In the next generation of this partnership, we will collaborate to provide our fans even more Notre Dame content through a variety of NBCUniversal’s distribution channels while continuing to put our student-athletes and their stories at the heart of our messaging.”

“There is no better tradition than Notre Dame Football in South Bend, and we are thrilled to keep that tradition within the NBC Sports family as we extend our relationship as the exclusive home of Fighting Irish home games through the end of the decade,” said Rick Cordella, President, NBC Sports. “With enhanced rights that allow us to present Notre Dame Football on NBC as well as across Peacock and additional platforms, we look forward to bringing the Fighting Irish to fans in more ways than ever before.”

NBC Sports retains global media rights on all platforms to all Notre Dame home football games. It also allows for select games to stream exclusively on Peacock, which has been the exclusive home of one Notre Dame Football game each season since 2021. Peacock will also be the exclusive home of a new, annual documentary series on Notre Dame Football, debuting in 2024.

NBC Sports’ Notre Dame Football games are averaging 5.1 million viewers this season – the largest audience through five game broadcasts since 2005 and up 86% from last year at this point. The Fighting Irish’s Sept. 23 primetime thriller against Ohio State averaged 10.6 million viewers across NBC, Peacock and NBC Sports Digital, ranking as NBC Sports’ second-most watched regular season college football game of all-time, behind only then-No. 2 Notre Dame’s “Game of the Century” 31-24 defeat of No. 1 Florida State on Nov. 13, 1993 (22 million viewers).

The new agreement also extends to other events on the Notre Dame Football calendar, including the annual Blue-Gold Game and Notre Dame’s Pro Day.

In 2023-24, NBC Sports also marks its 11th season presenting Notre Dame hockey coverage, as Peacock is exclusively live streaming the entire hockey 21-game home schedule.

Last November, NBC and Peacock presented the Notre Dame Fighting Irish women’s college basketball team against Cal -- marking the first-ever live presentation of a women’s college basketball game on NBC and Peacock. The series continued earlier today with the Notre Dame-Illinois women’s basketball game presented live on NBC and Peacock from Washington, D.C.

Revenues from the NBC partnership have played a key role in Notre Dame’s financial aid endowment since the start of the relationship in 1991 when University officers allocated a portion of the football television contract revenue for undergraduate scholarship endowment (not athletic scholarships). To date, Notre Dame undergraduate students have received over $100 million in aid from revenue generated through the NBC contract.
