Football Place Your Bets results: Notre Dame 56, Stanford 23

It's time for round 12 of Place Your Bets for the 2023 season with Saturday's road game at Stanford (7 p.m. EST on Pac-12 Network).

I detailed the results of the Wake Forest prop bets here and updated the standings for the season.

Our season leaders keep bouncing back and forth between the top spots. @Scottclarisey jumped back up into a tie with @rover219 for first place with 32. @jbm19 and @CURTVI95 are right behind with 31.

I have 30. @Eric Hansen's a little behind with 28.

We'll share our predictions for the Stanford game Friday on YouTube, but you can start submitting your predictions through the Google Form now.

Here are the five prop bets for Notre Dame-Stanford:

• Over/Under 49.5 receiving yards for ND WR Rico Flores Jr.
• Over/Under 4.5 pass attempts for ND QB Steve Angeli
• Will Notre Dame score more rushing or passing touchdowns?
• Over/Under 53.5 receiving yards for Stanford WR Elic Ayomanor
• Over/Under 6.5 Stanford punts

Football Oregon State depth chart for Sun Bowl with Martinez again out

So, below I posted the most recent Oregon State depth chart with All-Pac-12 RB and 1,000-yard rusher Damien Martinez off of it. Martinez was originally suspended for a DUI, then the charges were dropped and he was reinstated. However, interim head coach Kefense Hynson said recently he was advising Martinez not to play, because he had missed too much practice to re-condition himself and safely play in the game. The backs who will play are huge, and the new starter was effective as the No. 2 back. I've highlighted the new starters on the depth chart at the positions affected by opt-outs, transfers and injuries.

Denbrock Recruiting

In the chat transcript, Eric says this in one of his answers: "How I envision [Denbrock's] role as a recruiter in this iteration is to be actively involved in the recruitment of ND's offensive players beyond his own position group (tight ends)."

Looking at this list of Denbrock's all-time recruits, it looks pretty clear that Eric's vision is.consistent with Denbrock's record. Here's the position breakdown of the recruits on this list:

PosCount
LB2
S3
CB3
WR17
TE9
QB4
OL7
DL1
ATH1
RB5
P1
LS1
From this it looks like he's happy to recruit wherever he's needed.

Football Why Javontae-Jean Baptiste chose to play in Sun Bowl to end college career

Javontae Jean-Baptiste has been part of Notre Dame's football program for just one year, but he wanted to make sure he played one more game for the Irish in the Sun Bowl.

Recruiting The recruits most likely to be five-stars in Notre Dame's 2025 class

With the recent signing of 2024 five-star linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, Inside ND Sports looks ahead and projects which ND commits or targets are most likely to sign with the Irish — and simultaneously boast five-star status — in December of 2024.

Football Questions answered on this week's podcast (12/22)

Thanks to all who submitted questions for me and @Eric Hansen on our latest podcast. These are the questions we answered with timestamps.

38:13 • @scubavt: How well do you think Steve Angeli will play in his first game as the starting QB for Notre Dame?

40:27 • @ldlgoirish: Having watched ND QB's throw the last few years I would put Steve A as a better and more fluent thrower than Tyler B with more zip then Drew Pyne. IMO He compares favorably to Sam H as a thrower of the football, without the experience obviously. And he is more mobile than Sam H. However, Steve A was a lower-level recruit than Tyler or Drew. What are Steve A's weaknesses, strengths and how ill he performs when he gets this opportunity?

44:35 • @FlannerGym: Love that JJB got the Captain role for Bowl. Seemed like a huge part of great D this year. Did we ever get to bottom of his “masked man” persona on arrival? (I think a lot of fans wish they got to “know him” better)

46:30 • Ryan Urquhart - @UrquhartCRNA: How much will Jack Swarbrick be involved in the hiring of the new OC? Or will Pete Bevacqua be leading this hire with Coach Free?

47:49 • @SubwaydomerDFW: What are your thoughts on the lack of drama on the signing day? It seems like it's been quite controversial in SB the last few years. Do you think this was a broken clock, or more like the staff learned something in their first year. What do you think was the main contributor to a more solid class?

51:08 • Marie Biafore - @biafore_marie: Of the class of 2024 Signees , who are the top five players that each of you think will have the most impact in the 2024 season?

55:10 • @CharlesWWolfe: Which signee is your “can’t miss” pick, and which signee do you see as a potential sleeper? Merry Christmas to you both!

56:49 • @NDOnTheRoad: What is your favorite NSD moment in the years you have covered Notre Dame?

59:36 • Lynn K - @Carnoustie18th: Update as to the Wake WR transfer candidate?

1:00:26 • @Bob_Oxnard: Would you take another nickel back from the portal this spring if a good one becomes available?

1:02:19 • @MAC_COR0NA: It appears ND will be hitting the portal every year in the future to get a seasoned, graduate transfer kicker. Do you ever forsee ND bringing in and developing a freshman kicker like they did with Justin Yoon?

1:04:05 • @Tcnd543: With all the FBS HC jobs filled (barring any surprises like Jason Candle filling a Power 5 coordinator role and Toledo's job opening, or some other one I .not versed in) are we Irish fans feeling good about Golden sticking around? Would he jump to an NFL DC gig if one opens up? Is he being picky

1:05:45 • @NWI_Irish96: Any particular reason for the delay in announcing next season's 12th game?
