Recruiting 2024 CB target Kevyn Humes makes visit schedule

On Christmas Day, four-star cornerback Kevyn Humes announced he was reclassifying from the 2025 class to the 2024 class. He's long been interested in Notre Dame, and the Irish have continued to pursue Humes with him jumping up a class.

Notre Dame was always interested in potentially adding a third cornerback in the 2024 class, but that effort mostly focused flipping on four-star CB Kaleb Beasley, who stuck with his Tennessee commitment. But now Humes gives ND another chance to add another cornerback.

Humes has now set five official visits with one other school expected to receive an unofficial visit. Humes intends to sign with the program of his choice after the next signing period opens Feb. 7.

Here's the schedule:

Syracuse Jan. 12-14
Penn State Jan. 19-21
USC Jan. 22-24
Notre Dame Jan. 26-28
Florida Feb. 2-4
Maryland TBD

With so many visits in such a small window, I think this recruitment is pretty wide open right now.

Basketball WBB: Fair Game: Syracuse star takes control as Orange upends No. 13 Notre Dame

And as far as sharing a timetable of when any or all of the injured guard quartet of Olivia Miles (knee, 11 games missed this season), Sonia Citron (knee, 8), Cass Prosper (leg, 6) and Emma Risch (hip, 4)?

“No updates,” Ivey said.

Tyler, are you going to do any analysis of the offensive line in the bowl game?

I assume you have better things to do now that you are getting a bit of a breather, but at some point, I'd love to hear your analysis of all the young guys on the line and how they performed together. Odds are, we were looking at next year's starters unless Wagner puts on some weight and grabs that left tackle spot? It seemed to a lay guy like me that both tackles kind of collapsed on that one sack of Angeli, but all in all, the line seemed to hold up, particularly the interior guys.

Will Notre Dame hire a General Manager?

I just saw Northwestern hire one and other programs have done this a while ago. The way college football is moving closer to a professional sport, it seems to make sense with all the obligations thrust on today's football coaches. Tyler or Eric, have you heard any rumblings in this regard. It sounds like Marcus has other off-the-field jobs to fill with Parker pilfering a couple. Having a GM to assist Marcus with running this program would seem to make sense if it is affordable.

College Divisions like NFL

It’s time for the college game to be semi-pro teams for the NFL. The ncaa needs to go and college football needs to be set up like the NFL. College players are semi-pro players now, just because of their age , maturity and experiences this age. With the introduction of the NIL along with the portal/ trade deadline it’s the NFL light .If you win your division your in , get a wild card etc. Then there is none of this bs about who the committee thinks is the best team, or who is in or out because their best running back or QB is hurt, 2 BAD next man in play the game, that’s why you have backups at all positions, in case someone gets hurt. HKY: Cole Knuble's OT goal gives Irish 3-2 win over Augustana

A day after Cole Knuble notched a hat trick, the Notre Dame freshman forward broke a 2-2 tie 22 seconds into overtime as the Irish prevailed, 3-2, over Augustana Sunday in a non-conference college hockey matchup at Compton Family Ice Arena.

Hunter Strand and Grant Silianoff assisted on the game-winning goal, which came on an Irish power play.

Paul Fischer and Michael Mastrodomenico also scored goals for Notre Dame (10-8-2), which swept visiting Augustana (6-10-2). It was the first goal of Mastrodomenico's college career. Ryan Bischel had 22 saves for the Irish.

Notre Dame jumps back into Big Ten play Friday night (7:30 EST) at home against sixth-ranked Wisconsin. The two teams meet again Saturday at 5 p.m.

Football Five defining plays from Notre Dame's Sun Bowl blowout win

My five defining plays from Notre Dame's most-lopsided bowl victory in program history:

1. Steve Angeli’s first touchdown pass
2. Joshua Burnham’s fake punt stop
3. Howard Cross III’s sack
4. Jordan Faison’s touchdown catch
5. Notre Dame’s fourth quarter safety

What did I miss?

Can’t have it both ways

I am tired of this BS in college football. I think if you say you have to be undefeated to play for the National Championship, your in, but because one guy gets hurt, no matter how good he is your not in. Liberty is 13-0, but they aren’t in why, because they didn’t play a tough schedule, if that’s true then why is michigan in, with the easy schedule and cheating scandal, won’t the championship be tainted if they win it all with an asterisk beside michigans name 4 cheating if they are found guilt you by the ncaa. Who says and where is it written that the sec has to be in, the playoff, you either follow the rules that you have written down or your a hypocrite and a cheater. What would have happened if the fsu QB hadn’t gotten hurt, would fsu still be in the playoff? The committee was looking for ANY REASON to get a sec team in the playoff, and that is criminal. What if the QB for any of the other playoff teams gets hurt before their game, does that team get substituted for another team, !NO! now it’s the next man in.College football is like the NFL now with the NIL and portal, your buying and selling players like the NFL, so don’t say the two are really that different. The same for the NFL, What about the Eagles when Wentz rocked the team into the playoffs, gets hurt, Boles subs for him and wins the Super Bowl.Didn’t see another team get substituted for the Eagles Next man in. I kind of hope FSU blows out Georgia and Bama wins the playoff. I think the AP should give the championship to FSU if that’s the case.

Although I think the committee probably got it right as far as the 4 best teams…it’s tough and wrong to leave FSU out. It really was a nightmare scenario because they weren’t going to leave the SEC champ out. And since UT best Bama if they were putting Bama in they had to put UT in.

Football ND's portal pursuit of an offensive tackle

I know we've gotten plenty of questions about who Notre Dame is going after as a potential offensive tackle addition. Names have been hard to come by at this point.

I did have one floated my way today. Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to report who it is at this moment. I can say it's a player with starting left tackle experience who is not in the portal currently.

I know that's not a lot of information, but I've seen some people on the board dismissing that tackle is an actual need Notre Dame's trying to address. So I wanted to affirm that I am still hearing things to suggest that's the case.

If that player enters the portal, I'll mention then that he was the one I was referencing here. If nothing comes of it down the line, I'll circle back and let you know what I heard.

Just know that the transfer portal intrigue isn't done yet.
