I hate the PFF system. People crowing about Knapp getting an unheard of PFF score in the mid 80’s didn’t watch the dam game. I think Knapp is one hell of a young stud, but his PFF score is laughable.Yeah Onye. From what I saw Cross was lowest rated DL in the game
Now I don't buy into PFF but for people that do, Cross was lower than Onye
You touched on something important..it’s always been about him and his legacy (which won’t sniff the jocks of anybody worth a lick when it’s all said and done). Great coaches understand this is about the players, not you. He’s wreaked of that arrogance and it’s been clearI watched more BK press conferences than anybody 😁 I thought it was awkward more than inauthentic he was struggling on whether to display his emotions in the moment (these guys are coached endlessly on how to handle the media--and BK just had a bad moment) and the whole thing came off awkwardly and the loss didn't help.
Brian Kelly has a big ego and he's trying to show everybody he's one of the best post Saban era coaches. And this loss doesn't help his legacy. And he's pissed off about it and you can tell.
Agreed, I didn't mean to suggest that Kelly sandbagged Swarbrick with his decision. What Kelly told Swarbrick, and when he told him, is between the two of them. I have no idea what was said between them. Swarbrick has not publicly criticized the decision, nor how he was informed of it by BK. As you note, Swarbrick publicly stated he was not surprised by Kelly's decision. However, I have heard various rumors--of which I admittedly have no first hand knowledge--that some of the players weren't happy with how they found out about Kelly's decision, and the timing of it. In defense of Kelly, I believe he did stand before the team (the next day, maybe?) and tell them in person why he was leaving to take the LSU job. Certainly BK handled the decision in a more honorable fashion than when Bobby Petrino announced he was quitting as HC of the Atlanta Falcons by leaving a four-sentence laminated letter in the player's lockerroom. That was pretty gutless.Kelly assuredly did tell his employer just not the fans. Do you remember savvy Jack's reaction to the 'news?' He was not surprised at all.
I personally do not feel the emotional attachment to a professional hired to do a job. Notre Dame did not marry Brian Kelly. To be successful you make a strategic choice about what leader best serves your interests.

We’ve seen his real, that was as fake and inauthentic as it gets. He didn’t turn purple.. queue the clip of tongue out yelling at TJ Jones, that’s was real..but not because he cares about anything besides his own ass
I expect a slow startI hope Freeman is more focused on N Illinois then we are

As for the denigration of Kelly, apart from his perceived character issues, I think part of it, and maybe even much of it, stems from the way he left ND. Rightfully or not, I think how he departed left a bad taste in the mouths of many ND fans. Leaving was one thing, but leaving in the way he did was quite another. That said, I'm not sure there is any easy way to tell your employer you would rather work somewhere else. And some bosses are beloved, while others are not. Maybe those falling in the latter category are tolerated by the organization and its employees while they are getting the job done, but there is no love lost when they exit for greener pastures. I wouldn't characterize the discussion here about BK as a "hate-fest," as you have, but there is no denying that Brian Kelly seems to be a guy who elicits strong emotions from people. The polar opposite, I suppose, from Dan Devine. Maybe that's just the way it is, and always will be.
As for your take on Freeman, I didn't mean to suggest or imply that you have ever stated any personal animus toward him. I recall you and others expressed doubts as to whether he was the right man for the job when Kelly left, but you made clear your reasons for that position, and none of it was personal.
I was listening to the Dan Patrick show a few days ago and I thought he made a good analogy. Talking about Dabo, he said a CFB head coach who doesn't use the portal is like a GM of an NFL team saying, "Nope, the guys we drafted are plenty good. We don't need to sign any free agents." That GM would be gone in a minute. He doesn't have to, but if other teams are using the portal to fill holes in their lineup and you aren't, then you're at a disadvantage. Even Georgia uses it like we do. Their two receivers who caught TD passes Saturday were both transfers, which surprised me when I heard that. But I guess even Georgia has a few holes to fill.
Yeah Onye. From what I saw Cross was lowest rated DL in the gameHinish maybe, not onye
Hinish maybe, not onyeObviously good enough the last 2 years and against tx am to hold them to 13 points. 5 of those DL played. Burnham Traore Onye Hinish Young were part of the DL that did that Am. That's not including Rubio and Junior who have experience as well
Mills and Cross are obviously way better than those guys right now but they didn't play that well against Am. I wouldn't be surprised if the backups had as good of a pff grade as the starters
