For those that complain about ND not being in a conference...

Losing the conference title is a case by case situation, or it should be. It shouldn’t be an automatic eliminator, but it should be considered depending on resumes. 10-3 Georgia should likely be in. 10-3 Ole Miss should likely be out (had they won today).

I haven’t really heard any other conference’s coaches crying about it — Franklin did at PSU I believe — which makes sense. Don’t lose to 4-6 Kentucky or 6-4 LSU and you won’t have that problem…and now 6-5 Florida. Ole Miss played a soft OOC schedule too.

You might be right about being independent. I would tell these SEC schools to go independent, but they won’t. They’ll continue to hide behind espn and get the benefit of the doubt (somewhat deservedly so).

However, it should also be pointed out that they’re only playing 8 conference games and they’re getting a massive benefit from that. Of course the SEC coaches are not going to point that out.
Yeah but even if a 10-3 team gets in. That means they almost certainly won't have a home playoff game and they will have missed out an opportunity to rest for a week. I think most coaches would rather just take the 8 seed and a week off.

Ole Miss & IU are out of CFP

Ole Miss definitely is. I don't know about IU, I don't think that's fair. If they can match our 66-7 thrashing of Purdue, I think they're back in. Or at least approximate it. Where does their SOS rank against ours? Our margin of victory is about the same. Our seasons are about the same. But we do have that precious A&M win. But also have the 'bad loss' to NIU. How does that compare to losing to tOSU by twenty?
Can't speak for the committee, but I doubt that IU has any chance. We saw FSU get excluded from the playoffs last year and they were undefeated. It's clear that part of what goes into the decision is who can be competitive in the playoffs.

For those that complain about ND not being in a conference...

I know being a super conference brings in a ton of money, but a lot of schools are going to be sorry for this. Kiffin told reporters that there are coaches amongst the SEC that would rather not go to the SEC championship game and just take the bye. Makes sense. Why bother playing the SEC championship Game, have less time to rest, and risk losing and be out of the playoffs entirely? Nobody cares about conference championships. This suggests to me ND is actually better off NOT being in a conference, especially since you can still host a home playoff game and the remaining games would be neutral site.

The SEC has a handful of legitimate top 12 teams that are going to be left out in place of far weaker teams. This is only going to stoke the "exclusive scheduling" fire between them and the big10 that there are rumors of.
You're a complete fool. You should actually read the drivel you post. F+ is garbage and not used. wins and losses and head to head matter period. NO ONE CARES IF AN OFFENSE PRODUCES 500 YARDS IN A GAME. ALL THAT MATTERS IS THE FINAL SCORE.

Is Marcus Freeman already getting fed up with ND brass too?

There's so much erroneous takes attributed to me on this board its not even funny. I've done nothing but talk up Marcus Freeman the head coach for going on 2 seasons now. The coaching has been top notch since the start of the BK era. Its the talent acquisition side of the football operations that needs to come out of the stone ages and that i deride on this forum constantly (but not the coaching)
This is false.

Football ***GAME THREAD: No. 6 Notre Dame 49, No. 19 Army 14 (Final)***

I'm bundled up in the open air press box at Yankee Stadium, so let's get the game thread for Notre Dame-Army rolling.

We will use this game thread as the primary home for game commentary from now until after the game. We have some rules we'll ask you to follow, which will be included below.

If you're not following the rules and do not respond well to reminders, we'll remove you're posting privileges for the rest of the day. We have too much to do today to argue about it during the game. This doesn't happen often as we're pretty lenient in the game thread, but please keep that in mind.

@HotCarNut has disciplinary powers as a moderator. You can argue with him about the game, but do not argue with him about the rules.

Our game thread rules:

1. Use this thread until the end of the game for ongoing game commentary. We'd like to keep the conversation in one place. If something from the game merits a separate conversation of substance, go ahead and start another thread for that topic. When in doubt, post in the game thread.

2. Criticism of decision-making by coaches and players is allowed. But please avoid making it personal. Don't be malicious. Remember, that person's mother could be reading your post. If you cross the line, you'll lose posting privileges for the day.

3. Don't be a doofus. Have some respect for your fellow subscribers.

You dont get to complain about scheudle when you lose to florida and kentucky
There's no excuse regardless. If you got the talent, you just gotta win. However, I think you can make the argument that playing the lower ranked teams in the SEC is a bigger challenge than playing thr lower ranked teams from Big 12 or ACC. Sometimes I think a team loses not because they weren't good enough, but because it's just hard to beat talented teams weekly. It's the same reason why you never see anyone in the NFL go undefeated. Better teams lose to weaker teams all the time.
