Deserving or Best?

If CFB truly wants to let the best teams determine playoffs spots on the field they have to adopt the European Soccer model. A top league of 32-48 I prefer 32. That way the best play the best every week.
Using relegation and promotion teams can play their way up and bad teams move down. The schedules would become even and you elimanate the gymnastic judging that plagues cfb.
I'm almost certain that's what going to happen, not because of the playoff, but because the NCAA is so corrupt, and they won't let the players make any money. And if they do have a super league with 40 teams and all automatic bids, then the lustful mob will finally have what they demand. Unless they still want to have at-large bids, even after leveling the playing field such that there's no need, but what would CFB fans do if they couldn't pull their hair out with outrage and disgust over the effin' rankings....

But you're a soccer fan, you know what happened when the elitist powers that be tried to completely buy out and rig the champions league, and fans revolted, even former players who had played only for elite clubs wouldn't stand for it. And they've never had anything even vaguely resembling competitive balance in European soccer since the founding of the first clubs. But when what little opportunity there was for underdogs to possibly get their chance was about to be confiscated, fans understandably rioted.

But there's no need for relegation. Just create a new classification for the big dog programs and that's sufficient.

What I posted was in jest. People love to make definitive statements off of one game which I think is ludicrous.
Okay.... Sounds good then! I wasn't joking. And I don't think Texas will be considered by anyone to be frauds or interlopers if say, Clemson ends up beating them by a couple of TDs. Which I'm not expecting but it wouldn't be some huge shock if they did win. A mild upset.

Xavier Watts

I give a TON OF CREDIT to Coach Marcus Freeman for his recruiting masterpiece last January.

Cross, Mills and Xavier could all be playing on Sundays.

But they came back to play for CMF (that would not have happened under Kelly.)

Thanks Xavier, Thanks Coach.

You are absolutely right, CMF persuading those guys to come back was just as good as bringing in three 5* players, even if we only have them for this year. You will see more of that now that kids can take in NIL money while they are still in school.

Really impressive to see the roster MF is building. While we haven't hit on many 5*, he is bringing in some really good players who are athletic and twitchy and then coaching them up. Our team speed, especially on defense, has noticeably improved. If we can beat UGA I hope that will help the staff build on our recruiting success. Kids that haven't given ND a thought may start taking notice of what MF is building here.

Heck no. But Clemson is a blueblood. Or at least an upstart blue blood. So Texas would get a pass. What's really the difference between Clemson at 9-3 and Bama at 9-3? Not a whole lot. It's only the Indianas and SMUs that the mob wants to relegate to the shithole.

Deserving or Best?

Let's be honest: so far, it's very clear that Indiana, and SMU can't stack up to the better teams in the country. They just can't. And I know so many here still want to build up Indiana as top 12 team, the truth is despite their record, they're probably not even a top 20 team. Same with SMU. So going forward in years ahead with this playoff, do they take a deserving team like Indiana with just one loss, or do they take a better 3 loss team? You have to admit that the talent at Alabama or Ole Miss is far superior than the talent at Indiana where they have so many James Madison transfers.
Let’s be honest. Based on your analysis and that of Herbstreit, the ND teams of 2012, 2018 and 2020 do not belong.

This is bs. SMU n Indiana had great seasons it’s hard to win Im not saying they are as good as some teams that got left out but those teams had 3 losses and that is not acceptable and should not be rewarded. We flat out beat Indiana And Ohio state did not - nd should be celebrated n Indiana not denigrated

Way to many negative plays

The defense is going to carry this ND team as far as it goes. The offense will be asked to do enough to win the game. Saying it all year, the offense is one dimensional.
Riley Leonard isn't a good passing QB, he's very average if not below average. I was at the game and we were seeing open receivers and literally saying there it is and it took RL 2-3 seconds after we said it to throw it.
Leonard is a winner. It was a great decision to bring him in.

Won the Battle Hope We Didnt Lose the War

The game went entirely as expected. They controlled the overwhelming majority of it, and IU scored at the end to make it look closer. Unfortunately a common ND theme when they play teams they “should” beat.

The next game is THE game. Because for the past oh I don’t know….35 years, this is a game ND loses. And not only loses, but loses comfortably. They need this game. Bad.
Really, who expected that? Fans? I think what you meant to say is that the game went as it might have gone, generally speaking, if you were desperate to portray ND as obviously better, and the clear alpha in this clash, and to suck every bit of vicarious dominance you could out of it even before the game was even played. And then we ended up actually winning. It was certainly possible that we would, and that's what happened. But there ain't no nostradomus fans out there. Their projections are what they want to happen, not what they actually think will happen. Don't flatter yourself.
