Football Some quick practice observations from Saturday morning

The media was invited to watch stretching and the first three five-minute periods of practice before we departed. We have interviews coming up shortly with offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock and a handful of offensive players. I'll share a few of my observations from up top, and Tyler James -- who was taking video on the field -- will fill in with some of his as well later on.

I'm going to ask you something straight the F up, do you think skill position players should be forced, legally forced to share their money with the OL? You socialist mothereffer. I want a straight answer. Yes or no answer, just like they do on Capitol Hill when they're showboating for the cameras.

Yes or no, should they be forced to share their money, that they earned, and is their private property, with their teammates, who helped them achieve their success, by power of 'the state' to impose it's will upon private citizens. Yes or no?
More nonsense.
When you don't have a point you throw out slavery.
You're ignorance to slavery is over the top.
Maybe you need to look what's happening in Yemen to give you a better prospective on slavery
This poster is bizarre.

Can Jagusah work his way into the lineup?

All good point echo.

I was not a lineman but how difficult is it to move someone from o line to d line ?

We have some really athletic o lineman that play with a nasty streak. To maximize the “team “ potential , Kelly did it with Jerry Tillery why can’t we do it with some of the abundance of o lineman we have. Are we really better off if some guys transfer out. ?

The way it looks is we have too many o lineman and not enough D lineman there’s going to be some guys that are highly rated recruits who are going to go somewhere else to play.
Thoughts ?
It really is apples and oranges. Moving from d line to o line happens far more frequently. I had a teammate at MSU who made the switch from d tackle to guard. Two totally different skill sets. From a physical standpoint sure but it's so much more than that especially with a guy who has been an offensive lineman since he started playing football. A quality d lineman has excellent short space quickness and agility. Hand techniques are vastly different also. Not saying it can't be done but it's highly unlikely they would even try unless that o lineman had shown a lot of d lineman skill and potential in high school.

You don't even pretend to care, you're just sort of a thug. Friedrich Nietchze, pardon the misspelling, called that the 'master morality'. No pretense, no even attempt to meet anything, on anything other than your terms. And all we get is either the most strangled, self-serving logic, however simplistic or obviously stupid. Or just total defiance. God bless this country, eh?

I’m surprised how rarely we see o linemen switch to the d line. The one time we did it, it worked out great for both parties (Tillery).

ND has usually lacked serious size in the middle (300+ pound tackles). Mills is a legit 6’5, 300 lbs and is in shape. We pretty much always have a few guards who are in the 6’3-6’5 range and 300+. ND can usually go three deep across the offensive line and there is usually an athletic guard that won’t play. Seems like a no brainer but we almost never see that switch.
This is chaseball.

I'll take that as a 'yes', they should be forced to. And it is true, that rather than chattel slavery, the great social iniquity of the past that the involuntary amateurism of the NCAA resembles is communism more than slavery. And I never took you for a communist. But, you know, people surprise you....

How did they earn it?

Seems to me that selective repositioning should still be a viable option for filling positions of need. ND has had some spectacular success with this, and you don’t have to go further back than today’s AA Watts. I’ll be interested to read Echo’s reply here as he is a hell of a lot more qualified than I am. That said, I’ve always believed moving from the DL to the OL was damn near impossible. I still embrace the OLD notion that OL linemen are more disciplined and thoughtful, etc… and DL more aggressive and risk oriented, etc…. So, looking at our OL, two stand out to me as having the kind of size and PERSONALITY traits that could make this kind of position change: Pendleton and Terek. Both are north of 300 lbs, both are sophomores, both look to be bull like strong, both are very aggressive and road grader maulers in high school, etc…. Have no idea if either played any defense in high school, and it takes a hell of a lot more than size and personality traits to play interior DL at ND, but like to think our coaches are constantly thinking about options.

Do you hear yourself?
What your saying is these high price ball handlers don't need a great offense line so
is the o-line getting g their cut?
Though it was a movie remember Willie Beanen and his invisible juice.
The O-line showed how false that was

No, you generate the hate. You take responsibility for your own emotions. You don't blame somebody else. Like you can't effin' help yourself or something. That's how you guys think isn't it. But that's civilized society, you still get to unleash your rage, but you have to have a cover story, have to have an alibi. In simpler times strong men didn't have to worry about that. But now, if you want to get all enraged, you want be all aggressive, in a society of laws, you have to be able to blame somebody.

Do you hear wtf you're saying? You're actually making a claim on a given player's NIL money, and because football is a team sport, every individual player owes some of their success to his teammates. And presumably, by this truly perverse reasoning, he should be bound to share some of that money with them? With the OL, and the OL should all get their cut?

Good effin' god.....
