Indiana

Don't be like that. Let yourself have some fun, this isn't warfare. Lives aren't at stake. We don't need to see any possible threat to our even slightest advantage wiped out. Besides, we could easily end up hosting IU in the first round. Or maybe they host us if they go 11-1, which they probably will. I guess that's what you're afraid of.

Well I think they're a great cinderella story, I'm definitely pulling for them.
It was a nice, feel-good story until they passed us in the polls. Now I want them to lose. Sorry, have to draw the line somewhere.

Sheldon Day

It doesn't take 8 years. My nieces husband played 9 years ending in 2016. He was fully vested after his third season. A sad but interesting fact was their 401k match from the league was dollar for dollar yet many players were not participating during his time. Who gives up free money ?
I doubt they were seeing or taught the benefit of putting 23k away. Thats pocket money to most in the NFL.

F+ update, ND drops to 9th after week 10 bye

You just explained why them at 4 is an absolute joke. It looks like it's rewarding close losses and crushing average/bad teams vs actually beating anyone. Ole miss doesn't have a good win. Either does Penn state, miami, or indiana.

I'm very curious to see CFP rankings tomorrow and how they view teams like penn state, miami, indiana that haven't beaten a good team.
The system considers everything down to the play by play level. The best way to describe the system at the highest level is as "a ranking system that adjusts for opponent quality and for luck".

AP Poll Projections

I have philosophical ambivalence about that. Firstly, all such considerations and musings only draw attention to the futility and folly of having polls at all. They are antithetical to sport and competition. However, if you're stuck with them, I'm not sure how you should think about that. I think I disagree with you. What matters is where they're ranked at the end of the season. Especially if a team ends up like 7-5 or something. What does it matter if they were like, 4-0 when you played them? Even worse is how ranked teams load up on cupcake noncon opponents to start the year, so of course they will coast on their preseason ranking before getting exposed and finding their proper level. But the one mitigating factor is the fact that you defeated a team caused them to drop in the polls. And I don't know what to make of that. But it's not really that significant. If it wasn't ND that beat them somebody else probably would have....
I dont know there is single measure here.....Where you are ranked, who you play, when you played them. I'm sure we have all been on a team with high expectations and a loss or two, you move on and maybe lose a bit of motivation. Today, you see players opting out early...sitting....saving a year.........There is also injuries that happen as the year goes on....so maybe a team you play early is much better. Was FSU the same after their QB went out last year? So, I think the only thing you can go by is what they were ranked when you play them. Not perfect, but for what you win early, you lose late. Both FSU and USC were top teams....Army and Navy were not. It all balanced out by doing it when you play them.

Derek Meadows will be Irish

IF we somehow land Meadows and Parham this will be the weirdest large WR class i can remember anywhere. A ton of high upside but they all have very very low floors as they are all very raw other than burress. Burress has like T.J. Jones upside, and I think that would be awesome as we need someone t definitely hit in this class sooner rather than later.

Also, i'm not even considering Bettis as a WR, and I sure hope the staff isn't either.

F+ update, ND drops to 9th after week 10 bye

After South Carolina (a team Ole Miss beat badly) beat TAMU, Ole Miss got a nice bump into top 5. Their two losses are by a total of 6 points to LSU#12 and Kentucky#40

They've also dominated in all of their wins (less a 12 point victory to OU).

F+ update, ND drops to 9th after week 10 bye

Notre Dame was at #7 last week, but dropped to #9 this week after the bye. Defense is ranked 5th, offense ranked 14th through week 10.

Notre Dame has been floating around 7th-15th (but have been a lock in the top 10 for the last several weeks). There's also a group in the top 5 starting to pull away from the rest of the pack a bit with F+ ratings at 2.0 or higher. There are TWO 2-loss teams rated higher than ND (Alabama, and Ole Miss).

1. OSU, 2.26
2. Oregon, 2.19
3. Georgia, 2.02
4. Ole Miss, 2.00
5. Texas, 2.00
6. Alabama, 1.89
7. Miami, 1.69
8. Penn State, 1.68
9. Notre Dame 1.67
10. Tennessee, 1.62
11. Indiana, 1.57
12. LSU, 1.45

EXACTLY WHY I CALL ABSOLUTE BS ON THESE S+FP-ZEQ RANKINGS.

In 2018(season) the final f+p+abc silly ranking had Clemson ranked 3rd behind Bama and Georgia. Even though there was only one team @ 15-0 at the end of the year and a statement win against Bama this ranking somewhere had the "data" to put Clemson lower than Bama and Georgia!!! WTF

This nonsense hasn't stopped and now has OSU ranked higher than the team they lost to in Oregon.

Boise State isn't in the Top 12...with an absolute identical record and near resume as OSU.

Yet they aren't beside them which is where they should be. Hell they're not even in the top 12.

This all goes back to the sham AP poll. You have 5 teams in lieu of any record in the top 10 from the SEC. WHY?
If the teams you play are over ranked then it all looks blue sky.
The very same conference that WILL NOT play north the mason dixon line post halloween.
A conference terrified to leave the friendly confines of the south east corner climate.

Bama and the Rebels @ #4 and #6

Come on brotha...

Derek Meadows will be Irish

Based on NDs track record closing these fickle composite top 100 recruits during the MF era, it's hard to count any chickens before they hatch. But the fact that he's wavering on his flip to LSU and visiting ND is of course a great sign.

It's also funny that his ranking is falling from 50s overall to 80s overall and NOW he's considering flipping back to ND. Why isn't it ever the opposite?
