WTF Ole Miss

Playoff teams? Mississippi took 23 transfer portal kids in 2023, Oregon 16, Florida St. 12.

All three were NY6 teams in 2023, and easily would have made a 12-team playoff.
Wait

That FSU team that beat LSU by 21? Thats right. Guess LSU didn’t use the portal well. Gave up 55 to Ole Miss.

Recruiting trail is where you find the games biggest star players with the most upside... thus this is where you find the players that have the most impact/productivity/ value to your organization.

Transfer portal is a place to reinforce your roster. You missed out on that five star edge that your competition flipped? okay you better get a fourth or fifth year vet in here to stop the leak for a season or two while you continue to swing for the fences on the recruiting trail.

The problem at Notre Dame is that they don't have enough big upside star players from the recruiting trail to compliment the average talent they get out of the transfer portal and then they have a lot of transfer portal players as well so there's just a whole lot of average going on across the board on their 85 man roster

All of this adds up to them consistently being the 10 to 15th best team in the country.

ND builds their roster for a high floor but at the cost of having no ceiling in a sport where how high your ceiling is determines everything. And as ND fans we've been stuck here for nearly two decades and counting. And somehow no one at the institution has figured it out yet that we are DESPERATELY in need of landing higher quality prospects on the recruiting trail

And when you are making hundreds of millions of dollars per year (more than 99% of the rest of the organizations in the sport) you shouldn't be getting bullied out of obtaining the country's best prospects entirely.
